Well, my riff with this game is that if you're going to implement a SS mechanic then can it at least be effective? I'm pretty new, but I practice with the move details on and there are so many moves that don't track... but when you're fighting they do? It would make for a more competitive game, like VF or Tekken. People would have to learn to use tracking moves when they think they're opponent will SS. I think the only time SS is effective is when someone is running at you with an unblockable or something, I don't know.
Not a Wesley Snipes fan, I take it? Being based off an existing person doesn't preclude a character from being "respectable". There are plenty of them of many different ethnicities.
Currently, the Brazilian census has 5 different racial categories. One of them being "black". Another one being "brown" but that seems to be for all intents and purposes, "black" based on colloquial grouping (from what I'm reading. I don't live in Brazil). So, to say someone is "Brazilian" is as helpful in a race conversation as saying someone is "American".
True. Though in Zeo's first post, he had "male" in parentheses. So, before anyone gets started on this can of worms, I'm just gonna shut it down.
Based on the American usage of the term "Black"...
...Lisa is black. She is. There's no getting around it. Just accept it. Somebody can try to say "But, Hispanic and Lucha Libre and Spanish names and..." Doesn't matter. Being Hispanic doesn't stop you from being black. Lisa's black. Even if she was made slightly lighter (though I would say just less cartoonish looking) than in DOA4. And you know why? Because racial classification was BS from its inception. Completely. It's all just based upon how youkind of look compared to other people. Same with Halle Berry. Same with Beyoncé Knowles. Same with Barack Obama. The list goes on. No one really cares about your actual ethnic makeup when they're referring to your "race". Which is sad, but like I said, it's all BS.
as much as I love Rachel this is fucking annoying and sad...
At this point I don't care about stages and costumes. There are enough of those already IMO. Right now what I want is force techs back and more solid core mechanics. If I have to choose one or the other it will be core mechanics.
We don't necessarily have enough stages (or at least fun ones), but yeah I'd like for them to fix that and do something about online as well, so annoying trying to play there
I get what you mean but I heard they were returning alot of old DOA stages for 5U. I have always thought past DOA had better stages than DOA5 even though I only seen and barely played them.
1. Mkay.1) Not that I'm not a fan of wesley snipes, its that I'm not a fan of just plain copypasting wesley snipes. At least usually with characters based on celebrities, its just an obvious homage, not a direct copy.
2) At least to me, when someone says "Black", I think african. Not brazilian, not arabic, not hispanic, not just well tanned. African.
For people like halle berry, DOA5 Lisa, etc, etc, They might as well just be a white person with tan. I prefer to call them "Creamy".
1. Mkay.
2. That's kind of dubious. You keep throwing out Brazilian as if it's own thing. The African diaspora came to South America as well. Especially Brazil. Many people are descended from slaves and other immigrants from "Sub-Saharan" Africa. The same as in America. Many "Black" people in America have never thought twice about Africa and African culture. So, why are they "Black" but suddenly nobody in Brazil is because...they're from Brazil...? And how the hell is Halle Berry (etc.) "a white person with a tan"? What type of rules are you following? What stops them from being black? Is this the one-drop rule in reverse? Is it because they're not dark enough? Are you saying there's no difference between Halle Berry and the cast of Jersey Shore...? lol
We've got two black people and no guidos, just sayin'...
I mean seriously why can't they just add?
