DLC characters...not entirely out of the question

But Irene however was in DOA:D... getting kidnapped once again for Ryu to save her.

Ryu saved everyone in that game so it's a moot point. =P
But Irene was kidnapped... again. It's almost like its contractually required (section 4, paragraph 8 - the kidnap Irene Lew whenever you see ber clause).

Besides, of the 3 NG girls, not only is she the only one who has gotten involved with the DOA Series overarching plot, but she's probably the one who they can fit easily gameplay-wise. Rachel has that stupidly huge scythe and Momiji has her glaive. Also, Mo is yet another ninja, something the series has enough of.

I completely agree CyberEvil, I think I even made a post about this in one of the threads on DOAWorld.

"Lol, sorry you don't use words like:

How about DLC characters?

"Right now(subject to change), we’re not thinking about that. It depends(yes, no, maybe so) closer to the end of development. Just to be clear(To assure you), we’re not going to have paid downloadable content characters(this could easily imply them being free, because paying is UNFAIR). We don’t want to do that."

Right now, I can tell you guys that I won't be surprised if Team Ninja does have plans we don't know about. Their surprises were ruined in the character leak, so I'm sure they decided to add things that weren't even present in the demo. I could go for a lot of things. Here's a list of things I won't be surprised if were implemented into the game and/or made for DLC.

-DLC-
Retro Pack- this would include a bunch of redesigned stages and costumes from previous DOA's.
Music- soundtracks from previous DOA's added into DOA5's gameplay.

-DLC(free)/Implemented Without Us Knowing-
Character's like Genra, Alpha-152, Raidou, Tengu, Ein, more Virtua Fighters and (maybe Alpha Kasumi, but I seriously doubt her the most out of the others)

-Implemented Without Us Knowing-
Another new character that isn't Mila or Rig, more stages, costumes, Virtua Fighter characters, or gamemodes.

Is it similar to the feeling you got when you bought 100 lottery tickets and thought you were gonna win 2 million bucks and still ended up with nothing ? >__>
No lol. Its the opposite. I am a lucky person.

Shinbori can say whatever he wants, and I admire the guy, but in the end Tecmo owns him, his team, and all their souls. Don't expect free DLC from a company selling unlock keys.

I'm pretty sure that the recent fiasco at Capcom has other companies either looking at their own DLC policies or trying to capitalize by doing the opposite of what Capcom was doing. Free DLC characters may not make financial sense, but it does alot for PR and customer loyalty.

They gave free DLC for DoAD.

I'd want :kasumi: Alpha with an upgraded move set.

I'd love to see Kasumi-α in DOA5 too! Well, I probably wouldn't even play her more than a few times, but the thing is I really liked her VA and her theme. Anyway, I think she doesn't have many chances to get on board, tho. Her move set in Dimensions was the very same from DOA2 H, right?

I disagree.

She's a Kasumi character model with all of DOA2U moves archived by Team Ninja. Not to mention storyline wise she's still alive. Here's hoping TN takes some of my suggestions ;)

I think for DLC she has one the strongest chances of returning alongside the Ein move set in whatever form.

I may be wrong, but to my understanding, Kasumi-α became Alpha152. They are the same person, she just evolved between DOA2 and DOA4. At least that's how it looked like in DOAD.

I'd have to rewatch the DOAD story line vids (Which I posted in the media section;)) but from what I remember playing through, Donovan considered Alpha his " daughter " and she was the prototype for Alpha 152.

Hmm, it seems quite coincidental to my Team Hustle youtube series hmmm  (also in the media section;)).

But from what I remember Alpha and Alpha-152 co-existed individually.

Translation and choice of words are odd, I wouldn't really rely on this interview. What's clear is they aren't doing paid DLC characters, but hearing their stance on the DLC character concept, they didn't come off as actually being into it, since they would mention how it hurts balance. So whether it's free or paid DLC characters shouldn't matter.

If it's free DLC then everyone has access to it, if everyone has access to it then it's easier to balance said characters accordingly.

Everyone has access to it, as long as they have a network connection. More importantly, as long as the Tournament Organizers have a network connection.

No they didnt... from http://deadoralive.wikia.com/wiki/Kasumi_Alpha:
Created by Victor Donovan and the Dead or Alive Tournament Executive Committee, Alpha was a product created during the early stages of Project Alpha, a science experiment with the aim of creating the perfect fighter and human-weapon. She was later transformed into the inhuman creature Alpha-152 as part of Project Alpha-2.
