A large portion of people don't even know where the term Free came from anyways so why does it matter? Just keep the term free cancel.

yeah I think we should just stick with the term Free Canceling, I mean even when I do have to explain what it is to someone, they always end up understanding what it means and it doesn't turn into a long discussion. Just short, sweet and to the point :)

Since you're dealing with strategies, i still suggest Free Canceling as most of the hardcore strategical players will know it by that name when teaching it to newer players, and it's not that hard to explain.

Much like how people still call struggling "Slow Escape" when other games use the term struggle or struggle escape.

Hell no, not this again. On second thought, if a better name for "turkey" can be used for it, then ok, I'll rock with it. The concept behind "turkey" is rather funny to me, still.

No. You buy the whole package or you come up with your own concept.

Keep it simple:

Counter hit/Hi-counter hit (CH, HCH)

Guard instead of Free (guard cancel, K+G etc.)
Or just keep it as Free, no point in changing it to Hold that's for sure.

Stun or Critical State both work

Struggle instead of slow escape

-

There's no point in making up new terms for things that are already common place within fighting games.

thats what im going for ..
with the exception for counter hit ... i will stick to counter strike because this is what the game calls it now .. it wouldnt make sense to say counter hit when the screen clearly says counter strike ..

also im keeping slow escape because this is the term everyone seems to use here ..

well counter hit is a universal term though...i mean no one is going to be confused by that if they have the slightest bit of FG knowledge, also I'd say keep the :F: Button lingo the way it's always been plus most terms sound way better with "free" then with "hold" except when their is an actual hold going on...you know.

sorry but no ..
im not gonna call someone eric when he had a sex change and is now called erica ... even if his/her/its name used to be eric and technicly they're the same person (minus a dingdong)
simple as that ...
hold will stay ... thats the name the game has given it
and its counter strike because this is what the game is telling me its flat out spelling it for everyone on the screen ... theres no sense in saying something else ..

i made an exception for free cancel because thats just the term everyones to accustomed to .. plus theres no official name for it .. anywhere ... so that will stay ..

-_-' ok...so in the DOA community it doesn't work both ways...I can't say Jab and mean Light Punch here....thats what your pretty much telling me.

Counter Strike? really? Counter hit has been the name of that for years...and it's a universal term. There has been many times when a games term for something never really caught on and the community lingo was used, like in SFxTK no one calls CrossArt's that, they just say Team Supers, in Marvel they don't say Cross Over Counter, at best you get Alpha counter or something to that effect...why is this any different? VF5 has tons of in game terms sure but they stuck...but other universal terms work there too like While Standing or While Rising.

I can use more examples but the point wont stick so, i'll just keep calling moves and techs what i've been doing for years....
