Still seems like a marketing gimmick to push their audience into re-purchasing the game on current gen systems and getting their market transitioned and settled there for upcoming releases.

The real answer. XD

But to be fair, there has to be some incentive for buying the current gen versions of Last Round, even if they are minute. Most people can live without the new hairstyles and costume customization menu. The stages seem to be the biggest incentive for PS4/XB1 owners, because stages do play a huge role in DOA. At last last gen owners can still use the new characters and costumes, so it's like a give and take. Besides, as I said, it's clear that Last Round is an HD upgrade for current gen owners and even for people who might be interested in DOA5, but just never bothered with Ultimate/Core Fighters. Plus, I honestly think Last Round is also so that Team Ninja can get used to the PS4/XB1 hardware for any upcoming games.

No, it's just a give. Last gen owners don't really take anything notable.

Ultimate is already in HD at 720. If you're going to bank on the "even more HD than before" premise you had better go all-out.

We haven't seen a final build yet, so it's best to reserve how the game looks until we get our hands on it and see it for ourselves. Screenshots normally don't do the final product justice.

Most people can do without costumes/hairstyles because of the milking, so it's not surprising they don't care anymore! This is what they get. There's more! New characters? Most could do without them, too! And the "This is a good place to start!" Gee, where have I heard that before? Oh, that's right! Mass Effect 3! Granted, that game has three different modes, most I believe have played the first two and carried over. But really, you rather start at the end of something then the beginning. Since when has the end been a good plave to start - other than when you had to actually do things backwards to progress forwards (word problems, Swordfish, lol)

Again, why bring an update ... if NRS can bring a complete new game - MKX - not MK9.1 - to XBO/PS4. Now, in MK's case, this is a new beginning since today's audience may not be familiar with the MK of yesteryear (although they did a great job of retelling some it in MK9 - 1-3). If SE/CD (though the first game bred that shitstorm) can "wait" to bring an entire new TR to current gen and last gen, ftm - not an "update ... " IOW, both companies along with testing the new system were/are first and foremost testing completely new games - albeit sequels.

The issue as to why fans might wait is well. word-of-mouth! How many of us get pissed when we get all the sequels, updates, dlc, etc. only to be present with all of it in a big red box with a bow on it later if not for us just to give it to new fans? That's unfair!

The crux of this "eat & run" is due to all that transpired between DOA4 & 5. 2005-2015! A decade! Seven of those ten years ... 5 Vanilla should have been bigger than what it was - much, much bigger! Would we have had Ultimate, idk, idc either way, but we certainly wouldn't have LR. My joke regarding Alpha's costume, to put things in perspective. I don't sound so crazy, now, do I?

I want LR to succeed, I do. I just feel like it was unnecessary! All of the flaring tempers are unnecessary, but did they want this reaction? Probably not, but if TR got blown out of proportions - though rightfully so. Just my take!

Can someone explain the line: "if we optimize the game to last gen, we can't archive the game suited for current gen"? To me it sounds like they're saying they don't want to downgrade the stages for last gen b/c it will somehow mess up the current gen stages which makes zero sense to me. They've already said the specs are completely different so they had to create 2 different versions of everything anyway.
I think they meant "achieve" and not "archive". But, yeah, they're claiming that if they spend all their time making sure everything works on the previous gen, they wouldn't have time to do all of the upgrading and stuff for the current gen. This includes stages and maybe other things? I dunno. But, like Brute said, things would have to look a lot better than they do now on PS4/Xbone before people will buy this reasoning.

Ok, i got an important question
If you have all the characters bought and unlocked for the ps3 and you get the free to play on the ps4 does that mean all the characters will be unlocked for it??? or if i get it do i have to buy helena and w/e

I don't think they've addressed that specifically. But, I'm pretty sure any and all save data and downloaded content carries over from your account.

That would actually be something great to clarify but based off their website I'd say no:

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate players can carry over their unlocked titles, costumes and story progress!

It's still possible I guess but I doubt it. They want you to spend some $$$ on current gen. If you already bought all of the characters in CF for PS3 you can basically get by playing almost the entire cast for free on PS4.

Lol, what do you guys expect? XD There's actually not much stuff to reveal anyway. It's not a new game, it's just an update for current gen with a few more outfits, two new stages and two new characters. In comparison much less than DOA5U. The stages were already revealed, the costumes are not really news worthy, so the two new characters are everything that can be revealed. But there's still 4 months until release. So TN can't blow out everything yet. We probably can expect news for one of the characters in December in maybe a nice holiday trailer.

I want there to be a Season Pass for DOA5:LR. Like £15 ($23.98) or so for every DLC costume pack to release within 3 months. After 3 months, you will have to buy another Season Pass. The DLC's will automatically download for you if you have the Season Pass obtained along with the catalog. This would be nice. Very nice in fact.

I was thinking this a couple minutes ago, when I was endlessly scrolling through the DLC packs.

Here's hoping the new characters aren't goofy like the dlc ones were so far (anime Loli, feudal bird woman, nightcrawler kasumi). They did good with rig and mila (minus rigs 7 story leg throws...), and id like to have more "real" characters like them.

I doubt it'll happen though and well probably get more far fetched characters that feel out of place. Street fighter did the same thing with Rufus, hakan and viper, who feel more like KOF characters.

I'm sorry were you saying something?

To answer your question though, like you said they'll most likely be in line with MR and Nyo (not that I'd mind though as I think they're great additions). They'll be DLC characters on last gen just like the 3 ones before them so TN needs to "sell them" and will follow the same formula (the guy I'm not so sure how they'll handle). But expect: Santa, cheerleader, nurse, PE uniform, and preorder swimsuit for the girl. XD

This is a tragic "like"

Sorry Argentus. :/ Still have my fingers crossed for Marauder Leon. I really want to see it and I think it'll lift your spirits for LR.

I am curious though to see how they'll design the male and if they'll make him more anime-like (if that makes any sense).

Yeah apologies for being negative. Last round has been nothing but let downs for me so far

Hair and stages exclusive to next gen
Stages included are two I never liked to begin with
My main got one if the two costumes I didn't like yet knew would get in which is salt in the wound.
New hairstyles are so utterly random its Downright insulting.
Etc etc.

At this point I'm willing to bet Leon will get acopy paste pirate costume or something.

Buuuuut on the other hand...I just moved into my new place on Saturday so I'm no longer living out of my car so I can actually use my computer so I can go back and do the Leon and mila contest submissions I would have if I wasn't living out of my car at the time! :). I'm no Sync but I can at least do better with Photoshop than I did with crayola lol
