I said something along these lines before but I still wonder if TN is... secretly working on new possible mechanics that are equivalent to Power Blows and Power Launchers. Maybe a defensive mechanic? Power... "Hold?" (variants that holds highs/mids and another that holds only lows). Or maybe any move that produces a Critical Stun "early" or "automatically" in a combo... or even on first hit for specific moves. Maybe something that is environment based?
I'm sure why individuals at TN would keep this a secret but it may be a possibility... plus we do have a while to go before DOA5:LR is officially released.
Also. Was there supposed to be some other new mechanic that changes the properties of certain moves based on what costume the character is actually wearing? (Mainly the Power Blows... if a character is wearing a specific costume they will do... this move instead of... that move - one Power Blow may possibly produce a different affect, like an extended juggle state while doing less damage or something that permits better okizeme...)

God I hope not.

Power attacks and critbursts already minimize gameplay variety as it is.

The problem with these types of mechanics is that things become a "memorize, rinse, repeat" pattern as too many people try to focus almost exclusively on trying to link into these setups for "supers".

no that was just speculation based on an oddly worded ratings review way back when regarding weapons.

Understood... Can't help but to wonder what TN is truly planning, outside of what they've presented already in terms of innovation. We'll just wait and see what happens next.

Nothing really new in this interview but Hayashi is clear about two points in second question:
-No new gameplay features
-Characters will be rebalanced

I'll try to translate 2nd question (forgive my english, please)

-¿Any news in gameplay, even if they are only some adjustments, or news are only on graphics side?
-Yes, of course. We did some adjustments to make sure the game's balance will be the best it can be. As new features we didn't want to touch it too much, since we don't want it becomes something too much complicated (hard to play/different) and it ends discouraging players. About online, tournaments and stuff, people is using last additions we made in Ultimate, so we wanted players find something that they already are used to. So, it will be the most balanced game we did, but it won't have any new gameplay feature.
