Not relevant but... I kinda glitched Lorelei, and got in the sky...
I was just training with Ayane... And this happens....
That happens in normal Lorelei too? I got this in haunted lorelei. x There was that one glitch when it came out I remember where someone flew up into the sky and kept going higher and higher until the timer ran out
It makes me mad that people can get offended by sexualisation in videogames but think it's ok to carry guns to school and shoot people/hate on other races
Excuse me? I'm surprised only one person replied to this part of your post. Racism is still a widespread problem but I'm not sure anyone concerned with sexualization in video games is fine with it and has a single person ever said it's okay to shoot up a school besides those fucked up teenage girls that fetishize psychopaths to be edgy?

Speculation for this comment to be relevant: I speculate sexualization will be even worse in DOA5LR

To be honest, vanilla DOA5 did try to tone down the sexualization, but it didn't really work. DOA was created to stand out from other 3D fighters in numerous ways, and the attractive women and bouncing breasts were one of those ways. I think it's unfair to take that away from DOA, when it's been present with the series since the first game. Like someone said, there are plenty of conservative costumes for you to choose for your character, especially if your main is a male. Even when I use Ayane, I choose some of her more conservative outfits, like her school girl outfit. I rarely fight with binikis, unless I choose the Zack Island stage, where the MMA outfits for the males and bikinis for females make sense. Otherwise, Brad Wong C3, Eliot C4, and Ayane C12 are my go to outfits.

And another thing, people who don't want to try out DOA just because of the sexy aspects of the game are just using that excuse for a cop out. There are plenty of people who get frustrated with DOA due to the stun game and holds alone, but instead of complaining about those, they just look at the sexual aspect and rip on that instead. Every fighting game has characters that capitalize on sex appeal. DOA and TN is just unapologetic about it, because sexual appeal has been a DOA trait since the beginning.

This is because they wanted to tone it down, but y'all was like "lol nah". That's it that's the reason.

It's not a cop out if the game makes them genuinely uncomfortable with this type of appeal. This isn't just a few special flowers, it's all over the place.

Too much of a good thing is bad for you. That's my only thought on the whole sexualization business.

But enough of off-topic crap, what's this about this week's news being delayed to next week? Is there a trustworthy source that confirms this? Any other useful information?

This. Despite me having zero issues with the sexualization on principle, I still mainly aim for the simple sexy costumes like the Nyotengu avatar or the conservative outfits like Marie's schoolgirl outfit, Kasumis 2013 Halloween outfit and her ninja garb and the like.

The number of people who truly felt uncomfortable to DOA's sexualization yet not to any other fighting game would still make me laugh and are truly far between those who just wont admit they are scrubs overall.

Backlash from the fanbase

I thought it was Itagaki liking virtua fighter and wanting to make a sexy version

Do you really believe people that stay away from a game bordering on porn are doing so because it's too hard? I'd say maybe this could be true if the game wasn't that sexual but come on, look at it

They're being unapologetic about it because it makes money (well, makes money for KOEI who is quite possibly the one pulling the strings here) and sex appeal has never been as bad in any of the other DOA fighting games as it is now.

I want to have ALL Costumes because i LOVE THEM and i want to see them coming to LIFE :)

Also i am a NOSTALGIC FAN and want to see more ORIGINAL COSTUMES in the GAME .

Since DOA came out ,every Costume there was i liked and played with it.

Its a pleasure to see them in Current or Last Gen come to Life :)

like Classic Stages ect.

This Sex Thing annoyed me after the Second or third BIKINI WAIKIKI CHACCA CHACCA DLC (only GIRLS,perhaps)

But TN or who ever behind it decides it ,pays Rent ,too.

They realistically won't back away from the sexualization if the other alternatives won't be at least on par with sales performance. Your essentially telling them to make less money (Which would damage their bottom line and be a factor in regard of possible future game projects) if a constructive alternative solutions fails to appear. Did they comment if the Legendary/Casual outfits were at least close to the fetish/swimsuit outfits sales wise? I know we vocally say we want more of those outfits (I do too), but what good will it do if nobody, but old DoA players that aren't into fanservice buys them?

They already tried changing before with DoA 5 Vanilla Alpha, but you saw how that turned out because of fan critical response. Sexualization (been that way since DoA 1 since Itagaki embraced the concept of "action and sexy") is one of if not the image of this series like how Mortal Kombat used Violence and the beach volleyball spin-off games (Guess what? Good amount of people are still asking the developers to make another one lol) aren't exactly helping with the Western acceptable image.

Oh the image. The thing is about image is that culture has different perspectives on the term. Just look how Obama and Putin handled formalities in the recent trip to China lol that got media attention solely due to culture shock.

Just like how good old Merica glorifies/romanticizes violence as an entertainment medium, Japan largely uses ecchi/moe/kawaii/etc instead which irks each other. Just like how most western localizations of Japanese games have a certain standard (like censoring the GG Xrd box art), Japan has their own which is censoring violence like with the recent violent horror game Evil Within.

As long as Japan and Western (The "problem" is not just the Japanese fans populace continue to buy the fetish/swimsuit outfits according to the developers) majority keeps supporting the practice the developers will feel reluctant to stop. Why do you think they are milking this game with those particular kind of dlc outfits? That a male character will only get a costume maybe once or twice a year unless your Hayabusa? From a buisness perspective it makes sense.

Someone is gonna have to have a long and convincing chat (buisness wise) with Shimbori and the rest of the TN developers for any hope of changing. It's probably already too late for DoA 5, but for DoA 6 maybe they will stick with the rather conservative approach longer then the alpha stage next time.

Who am I kidding? You can't change a majority fanbase that has been built around several games/spin offs that was promoting the concept of fighters with bouncing tits. Tekken and Virtua Fighter built their fanbase ground up because of the gameplay, but DoA will always have the stigma of "That titty fighter game" that just also happens to have legitimate gameplay. It would take a substantial amount of future reorganization to at least dampen that stigma because the past will never disappear. Which brings an interesting question.

How much "toning it down" will warrant it to be enough? From which perspective will judge that? Will it damage or help the series in the short/and long run? etc etc etc

All I'm saying is that you have to be naive/arrogant if you think that the "problem" will resolve overnight. It will be a long and difficult path to force your ideals/perspective onto another that appears to be quiet satisfied with the current status quo. That doesn't mean though that I won't welcome such fantasies happening in reality in open arms if it eventually transpires. Also obligatory buff Ein remark insert.

The issue is that whoever is in charge now doesn't comprehend BALANCE.

The old DOA's were...well, fighting enternainment. They had sexy bits, they had modest bits, they had good bits, etc.

But Vanilla 5? Tried to dump everything that made it entertaining and just make it competitive.

When that didn't work they tried to just slut it up.

Now that's backfiring as well.

Everyone ONCE in a while they wise up with stuff like Casual and contest packs, but that's about it. It's been one long string of shooting themselves in the foot, i'm surprised they have any toes left.

Guys, the sexualization debate is fruitless and if you really want to read other's opinions on it you can PM others, attempt to create a new thread (good luck with that), or read through countless past replies such as those in the Casual Thread (which was the reason why that thread was locked). There is no point discussing it here. I don't want to report anyone so please just drop it.
