Sorry JKT I must have missed it. Interesting article for sure especially when discussing balancing
I look at players mainly from North America and Japan — where tournaments are popular and I can read their comments — and pick up opinions from the entire range of players: from casual players who only pick up the game once in a while to regular tournament fighters.

I don’t listen to just the loudest voices. I try to carefully examine all the opinions from different angles.

There's no need to be sorry ^^ hehe.

By the way I just wanted to note that in the interview when asked how TN justified the price for the update they said that they would continue to support LR with updates and that they may add new modes. Notice though how there's no mention of them considering future DLC stages. So basically a confirmation that Danger Zone and Crimson is it. :/
Hmm although they didn't mention the stages, I don't think its completely out of the question ^^. Maybe its not confirmed that there will be DLC stages in the short-term, I don't see its not a possibility much later on (a year from release perhaps?)

I like the bit about the Power Blow and other comeback mechanics. Interesting. A "revenge" button as he would call it.
Yeah I liked how in this part of the interview, they talk more about things many interviews overlook, like gameplay mechanics. I appreciate the interviewer trying to highlight a different viewpoint on the status of DOA.

Thanks for the links @JKT :)

For the interview seems to be an indirect confirmation that no new stages will be released with Last Round after the already showned "Danger Zone" and "The Crimson", but this to me doesn't mean that there is no chance for new stages later, overall when this already happened with DoA5 and DoA5U.

More, in a previous interview Hayashi mentioned the possibility to get DLC characters in future, thing that wasn't stated in this last interview but that for me doesn't want be seen as a sure confirmation that this will not happen.

So Bass' damage on throws are higher, and you can do P 3-4 times in row before they drop out? Nice.

Can't wait for the balance changes in LR.

P.S: Why didn't TN add in their combat mechanics? It might harm the "casual" side of things, but just add it in the tutorial, and teach them how to do it. I would have loved to see what they would have brought out.

Lol @ "Revenge Button"

Itagaki: "a wrestler should never beat a ninja"

Shimbori:"Dead or Alive is about pitting different fighting styles against each other. It would be wrong for a professional wrestler to fight just like a ninja, just as it would be wrong to make it so a pro wrestler could never win against a ninja. You want a quick ninja facing off against the powerful grappling of a wrestler! That’s what it means to have different styles fighting each other!"

Mildly off-topic

Honestly I think pro wrestling is far more dangerous than jujitsu. How many cases of jujitsu practitioners dying in training are they on record vs pro-wrestlers? You put a a real life "master" ninja in an octagon with a Kurt Angle or Scott Stiener(in their prime of course) and my money is on the wrestlers.

I believe the article made a pretty good summary on Alpha 152... a Glass Cannon and... a bit of a "Scrub Killer" - and the fact that balancing fighting games in general can be complicated.
lol @Itagaki's aesthetic approach towards character balancing

im going to assume you meant ninjustu and thats not really saying much as the proffesional style regularly hurts you more than your opponent. wrestling slams however can end a fight pretty easily if you manage to get caught in one.

i cant say anything about ninjustu though as everytime i find any info about it everyone says its complete bullshit. no one knows jack shit about ninjas it seems.

We're not talking about "real life ninja" we're talking about fictional superpowered characters that can teleport and shoot energy out of their hands and move their bodies in crazy ways.

That's because "Ninjitsu" kinda didn't exist. Ninjas were nothing more than people(usually other samurai) who blended into the crowd and who were trained to use improvised weapons or whatnot. Kunoichi were more or less prostitutes who were trained to seduce men and extract info from them with their sexuality and if need be kill(Setsuka is a far more realistic portrayal of a kunoichi than Taki was). What you see ninjas doing in fighting games are highly stylized Jujitsu which was very real(which is why I brought it up)mixed with some black magic shit on the side.

You don't really have to look very far to see stories about aspiring wrestlers dying due to improper technique from some asshole doing a move they don't have the chops and experience for. As for the wrestling slams yes one of those will more than definitely take you out but due to the power and skill required its kinda impractical. You're much better off with mat techniques but if you need a suplex then the DDT is one of the more effective ones. Thats how I knocked someone out for the first time.

Yes I know about "suspension of disbelief" but at the same time a Russian commando shouldn't be completely free to some purple haired Japanese girl who weaponized ballet/ice skating techniques.

The second he grabs her she can just teleport out of it. Any ninja that can teleport at will can do that in theory. Ayane's particular ninpo takes ages so I don't think that'd be practical for her to use in a fast-paced fight.

It is so easy to get off topic on this site
