It's not new to anyone but I don't think you understand what I'm trying to get at. My point: If TN wants a wider fanbase they've exhausted the bouncing breasts approach and need to think of more effective ways of marketing themselves.

Plus, they keep showing Hitomi, Leifang, Kasumi, Rachel and Momiji and not much of anyone else. we've seen enough of Rachel and Momiji we want to see Ein, Leon & Jacky that isn't from their reveals god dammit >:/

I'd like to think the presence of hot girls doesnt negatively effect DoA. I know if they werent in the game, I wouldnt be playing it as I would have lost interest by now.
As a casual player, the thing SF4 has over DoA for me, is the technical skill required to pull off combos and the satisfaction that brings. While SF4 has 1-2 frame input requirements and all kinds of complicated joysticks motions to cancel this into that etc, DoAs combos feel more pedestrian.
I know guys like Akira have tough just-frame moves. Maybe all the DoA characters should have some of those too? Add some kind of cool (but subtle) visual effect for pulling off a JF (like the purple flame in Tekken 4) and someone like me would be more motivated to spend more hours in training and I think it would make the game more exciting to spectate (build hype etc).
I think pulling off a tough combo is very satisfying in any fighting game and I just dont get that feeling from DoA.
When I saw the new launcher moves in DoA5U, I thought TN was trying to add some new visual flair to the combat. I do think stuff like that will get more casuals interested.

It's an interesting POV, but input timing is the only thing difficult about SFIV. Of course there's wonky hitboxes and charater specific set ups as well.

DOA5U is adding a lot of combo sub systems so players can be more creative with their juggles, I think that's what's really missing. Power launcher, new air floats, mid air stuns and ground bounces, etc. . .

I'd like to think that, too, but unfortunately I know better.

That's nice, but I'm more interested in being badass than hot. As long as DOA is fluid to play and feels badass, I'll keep playing.

SF makes it difficult to do things.
DOA makes it difficult to know WHEN to do things.

I see no point in making needlessly "difficult" inputs, as that's really you vs oblivion (once you master it, it's mastered) rather than you vs opponent. While Ryu's ongyoin T may have an easier input than SF moves, it's very difficult to create a situation in which your opponent will allow you to do it on HiC. Thus, there is satisfaction in the move that is gained from you vs your opponent rather than you vs oblivion (muscle-memory/input memorization).

exactly, you'd figure TK would put priority on ALL the new cast over showing the new stuff for the old cast. the fact that we seen more new shit for the old female cast than anything on ein or leon is pathetic. Leon didn't even get a traditional gameplay trailer like everyone else got and only got a short 5 second clip in the E3 trailer and the short teaser clip at the end of momiji's trailer as the only official media of him from TK.

general hype for 5U is far lower than for vanilla and TK's awful promotion for the game isn't helping any...can't wait for the next 40 second clip that barely shows shit and focuses on more T and A!!!

Guys like me struggle with the joystick motions to cancel a sonic boom into the super flask kick thing too. Its not only button timing for us. With a just frame system, it is pretty much just button timing but at least its something that gives some extra kind of satisfaction to the player, when they pull the move off.
When I used to play SC4 and SC5, Patsuka was by faaaaaaaaaaaar the most fun character to use, because of the technical skill required to do some of his/her cool looking stuff. I would love for that kind of playstyle to become prevalent in DoA (and SC too).
I saw a SC5 final for some tournament on Youtube and was bored s***less watching Mitsurugi and Nightmare poke at each other with the simplest command moves. Yawn. On the other hand, watching a Patsuka player flashing white for the whole battle pulling off Jf after JF was exciting, because I knew how much technical skill was needed to do that.

SF makes it difficult to do things.

I dont consider stuff like that needless, because adding goals for a player and the satisfaction they would feel in achieving them, will make the game more fun and encourage new players to train and veterans to keep playing.
It can take a long time to master some things and then you need to keep training to maintain a handle on it (how many SF4 players mastered Sakos Cammy combo?). Thats time people will spend playing the game and its skill they can admire when they see people doing it at tournaments (again with the hype building). I think it plays a huge role in why people like watching SF4 matches.
I agree that the challenge of DoA is knowing when to do something but I would also say the challenge of SF4 is knowing when to do something AND having the technical skill to execute it. DoA doesnt have that and I think it would be a better game if it did.

It's sad when TN is nice enough to show a combo video showing off new moves and people bitch about it because they are female.

Yeah, that glorious 30 seconds of footage. OOOOO AAAAAAH

SF needs "difficult" inputs because every character's movelist is so small compared to Tekken or DOA and the like. Thus, the mind games would become significantly less complex because less options would have to be factored in at any given moment. They need other elements to keep it engaging, and so they steer in that direction.

No, it was literally 30 seconds, just like I said. He only played from 0:40 to 1:10.

Compare that to all the Rachel, Momiji and misc TnA footage we've been getting and it's just pitiful.
We're not exaggerating, and you're out of your mind if you think that video is giving Leon enough attention.

I think DoA needs more elements to make the combat as engaging and satisfying as SF4's.
Perhaps we'll just have agree to disagree on this point?
Perhaps DoA5U will make the combat more satisfying for me?

How about you actually listen to what I was saying b4 commenting. I was addressing this comment by dontforkwithme

"Leon didn't even get a traditional gameplay trailer like everyone else got and only got a short 5 second clip in the E3 trailer and the short teaser clip at the end of momiji's trailer as the only official media of him from TK."

I never said it wasn't 30 seconds, I said it was more then what he said.

And that combo video is the only thing showing "TnA" and that's only because of the swimsuits, last I checked that trailer also showed gameplay changes and moves. But sadly people could look over that if females are presented and will have a fit about that

And I don't think "Tna" is the only reason Rachel and Momiji have been presented so much. Maybe it's because they both are new to the series and have fighting styles that are quite new to

And last I checked the only trailers they've been in were their reveals, an individual gameplay trailer, a tag team trailer, and this combo video and that's about it by TN. Everything else was gameplay videos by people who played the game at E3

It's not like they were shown like 10 times while the dudes were shown only twice or something.

I know few people wanted their sausage, but is it bad if they showed "one" trailer that gave the opportunity to show some combos as well as pre order outfits? Just hope next time they'll show the dudes to, I know I will

Maybe I could pass Momiji off as "new" even though she has a variety of moves from Hayates and Hayabusa (Hayabusa understandable considering he's her master). But Shimbori and peter garza said themselves many aspects from Rachel came from Spartan 458/Nicole from DOA4.. and her moveset was inspired by Leon lol.

anyways,,,

It really sucks that TN is limiting there fan base and marketing there game using the same methods they used for Dead or Alive 5 vanilla. Showing off girls in skimpy costumes and costumes that honestly no one is interested in other than those same perverted fans from 2012. They're gaining no new fans so I honestly hope they don't expect good sales. They made plenty of money from DOA5 so why can't they market and promote their game the way Capcom does SF, or the way Namco does for Tekken is beyond my understanding. SF x T has excellent game marketing. But TN promotes DOA with breast shaped mouse pads, countless bikini DLC and expect fans and non DOA gamers to take them seriously or to see their game as more than just a titty fighter. We had to go on twitter in 2012 and beg TN to make more than just bikini DLC..

You put a "^" indicating you were referring to the post just above yours (mine), not to mention I'm the only one who posted after your previous post in which you embedded that video.
I read posts quite carefully. It's not my fault if you are bad at properly addressing what you are responding to.

"Leon didn't even get a traditional gameplay trailer like everyone else got and only got a short 5 second clip in the E3 trailer and the short teaser clip at the end of momiji's trailer as the only official media of him from TK."
That's true. This video you showed was from Gamespot's interview with TN, and in similar situations they showed off all the other new characters as well (but actually completed each fight with them instead of stopping halfway through). This is not an "official Leon trailer" like the others got. The others got this, official trailers and more. So yes, Leon is getting shafted.

And that combo video is the only thing showing "TnA" and that's only because of the swimsuits, last I checked that trailer also showed gameplay changes and moves. But sadly people could look over that if females are presented and will have a fit about that
Let's be honest, they are showing the women more than the men, in bikinis or otherwise (in their "regular" outfits their tits are still hanging out, anyway). They are showing them more becuase tits sell. Trying to argue that point is futile.

And I don't think "Tna" is the only reason Rachel and Momiji have been presented so much. Maybe it's because they both are new to the series and have fighting styles that are quite new to
Rachel's style is not new. It's stolen from Spartan. And yes, tits are the main reason she is being shown so much. Tits=sales. See above comment.
Besides, Jacky and Ein still got official trailer sections that Leon didn't. He's getting screwed the hardest, no doubt about it.

It's not like they were shown like 10 times while the dudes were shown only twice or something.
The "new female" to "new male" (available) gameplay footage ratio is actually pretty close to that, yeah.

I know few people wanted their sausage
FFS why do I even bother trying to talk sense to people here anymore?
