EVO 2013: DoA5 has a shot! But there's a catch...

evo.jpg

So the EVO 2013 lineup was announced just moments ago on Wakeup SRK, and it's the largest EVO roster in years. Dead or Alive 5, unfortunately, is not on the main roster. This is due in no small part to a lack of consistent offline support in comparison to other games. We've been on the upswing, especially after the solid showing at NEC, however we have a lot of building to do yet. This is something that we're still working hard on changing, but this is currently our reality.

Now, the title says we still have a shot, and we do, but that catch is really going to put us in a put up or shut up position like never before! The Player's Choice slot, EVO 2013's eighth title, goes to the community and game that donates the most money to a chosen charity. The other part was that the game had to receive more than 500 votes in the poll that ran on the EVO Facebook page, which we did pull off. As of this writing, the donation page (link at the top) states we have 21 days to donate as much as we can, or til the end of January.

This is a chance for the entire DoA community to back our game. Online players, offline players, stream monsters, EVERYONE has an equal opportunity to help out the community. If you can't travel, toss a few bucks at the donation. If you prefer online play for any reason, donate anyway. If you do travel, definitely donate. Everyone should be donating as much as they can so that we can get our game back on the EVO main stage. Even if that doesn't happen, your money still goes to charity.

So DoA community: FSD members and DoAWorld members, online and offline players, casuals and pros...the time to step up or stay off to the side is coming!

You know, looking at the other games on the list... I can't see people rallying behind that many of these to actually put money down. Most of them are from communities that have some kind of representation already. Are Guilty Gear or Melty Blood fans going to splurge when P4A is in?

DOA has a real shot.

I don't know honestly... I'm actually legit afraid Melee will get the spot. People have wanted that game at EVO for years.

I'm in.

But it has to be this one.
http://www.newtownyouthandfamilyservices.org/index.php

or this one.

If we're doing it then we need to do it for those kids and their families. . .
I also had this idea I've been batting around for collecting money from people to show up at NRA and gun conventions, with a camera, portraying the people you don't want having guns.

(I.e Thugs acting really ghetto, Koran thumping Arabs, strange looking young men, ect.)

And this ties into the social conversation of the moment about video games promoting violence - we play fighting games and I think the only violent act thats ever occured in this communitiy involved Perfect Legend paint brushing Master once.

I got 4 copies( DC,XBOX,GC and PS2) of CApcom vs SNK 2 and I haven't played the game since 2006.Good times though.
I guess because Capcom vs SNK 2's appeal becomes stale after long peroids of playtime and then it starts to collect dust, but what about DOA5? Does it fall in that same category? NOPE lol.

Wish some players saw what I saw when I play DOA5. I've been to 3 local tournaments that had DOA5, and no one showed up. I'm turned off from so many 2d games thats being played at tournaments.
I donated the little amount for the chance DOA5 to make... and breast cancer

I personally would have preferred, and thought it would have made more sense, to donate to Child's Play over one of the lesser Breast Cancer research charities.

I'm donating for the beautiful women who has breast cancer (wish them well) and I'm donating to represent our community. Donating for breast cancer is more important to me.

I want DOA to make it to evo. It just seems like its going to be hard against something like Melee or even MLP. The people behind these games/community is too fucking big.

if you look on the donate page for each of those games, they both have over 100 FB likes. Not saying that all those people donated, but it shows they its more out there. compared to the 10 likes DOA has lol

It all depends on what amount people are donating. If you have 300 people only donating $5 but another game has 10 donate $200 then the game with 10 people had a higher donation.

For example, 3S, CVS2, and SC5 all have the same amount of "likes" as DOA5.

You guys are fucking up royal this time.

A) The money you're sending to breast cancer RESEARCH foundations is going mostly to promote breast cancer AWARENESS.

B) This is really generic and exploitative and you're not helping a single person.

Why not find a terminally ill child who wants to go to the superbowl (or a WWE show, UFC, Nascar, Whatver) or find a family thats having trouble paying a kids medical bills or someone who lost their home during Sandy?

What you guys are choosing to do is the most generic, unthoughtful, detached donation process you can do.

Breast Cancer? Really and who EXACTLY are you helping with that.

DOA won't make evo because of this and someone who could really use our help won't get it - congratulations guys. . .seriously, wheres the fucking poll thread for this idea?
