Interestingly when you take the top 7 from the voters poll on Events Hub:

1. Ultra Street Fighter 4: 1984 votes / 12.7%
2. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: 1741 votes / 11.1%

3. Super Smash Bros. Melee: 1716 votes / 10.9% (still counts b/c EVO wants it)
4. King of Fighters 13: 1459 votes / 9.3%
5. Killer Instinct : 1210 votes / 7.7%

6. Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma: 848 votes / 5.4%
7. Skullgirls: 829 votes / 5.3%

It's almost identical to the real lineup. The game that was "ripped off" so to speak was Skullgirls with Injustice wrongfully taking it's place.

So, US players. This is the challenge to you.

EVO allows side tournaments. Get talking, coordinate, and make a real push to get people there and JUST MAKE ONE HAPPEN.

Who knows, you might even catch the attention of Team Ninja and get some official support. But don't count on it. Get together, and get to EVO ANYWAY.

As much as I like Injustice this isn't cool. I can see one flimsy reason for excluding Skullgirls and one, if we're honest, sadly, totally legit reason. The flimsy reason is that the most current version of the game is effectively (to my knowledge) a PC exclusive at this point and there's no guarantee that there will be a final build available on consoles in time for Evo. Counter-point: Evo is five months away, i.e. plenty of time to sort that shit out. The totally legit reason is that NRS has financially supported events to (essentially) an infinitely greater degree than Lab Zero has, can, should or would. Money talks.

And the problem is they only want 6 or 7 games and since UMVC3 and USF4 were already locked in (which of course they would they had amazing turn outs) and ones like KOF and melee weren't guaranteed but highly likely, it's near impossible for a new fighter to squeeze in the last few spots.

Spoken like someone who's never gone to Evo if I had to guess. Unless people aren't participating in any other tournament it's just not feasible to run one on any scale over 10 people. It's pure chaos with pools running constantly and thousands of people milling about. Nobody has time to do a tournament during the event with any hope of decent numbers or even completing it.

That said, something Thursday or Monday has a shot, but not everyone shows up for the extra days.

People manage to enter into more than 1 game at EVO anyway. It seems like we could make it work as long as people were interested in it. Also, not being an official event might allow us the flexibility to run it earlier in the morning or later at night than the rest of the officially sponsored games. When I went last year there were a ton of side tourneys. People managed to do their Street Fighter II tourney in the middle of the rest of their EVO commitments.

The reason for not including Tekken Tag 2 was bullshit, mainly because Harada himself said that there won't be another Tekken game out this year. True, it didn't have a big draw, but I think at least one 3D fighter should have made it. Tekken is the most known 3D fighter, there's no denying that, so to exclude it is just stupid. They say that KOF13 is included because of it's international draw, but Tekken is played heavily internationally as well, especially in Korea.

have you never heard of street fighter before bro?
It's a fact, however, that Tekken has sold WAY more units than Street Fighter WORLDWIDE. So while Street Fighter is very well known and very popular, Tekken technically is the most popular because it's the best selling fighting game franchise of all time.

Tekken was the most popular fighting game but not anymore. They don't get as many people to show up for tournaments. I remember sometimes that DOA had more players at Wednesday night fights than Tekken. Here are the players that entered Evo for each game last year:

1. SSF4 AE v2012 - 1,601 players
2. UMvC3 - 1,297 players
3. Smash - 696 players
4. Injustice - 582 players
5. SFxT - 545 players
6. KoF13 - 433 players
7. P4A - 400 players
8. TTT2 - 355 players
9. MK9 - 233 players

all that proves is that tekken fans are bad at not scratching their games
