@Stikku: I call bullshit.

I'm not even a fan of Leifang outside of one particular leather outfit, and even I know it's not within Leifang's character to just up and kill someone over something like this in a canon storyline... maybe beat someone unconscious, but not actually kill someone, come on now. It's just as non-canon as Zack's ending where he and Niki search for treasure in a mummy's tomb just as an opener for the non-canon DOAX2.

But I still don't think its fair to compare a fighting game's story to an anime's story. Fighting games usually have a very weak story ('hey, we're having a tournament, let's invite the best fighters from around the world to enter.')

And in DOA5's case, outside of the ninjas, Helena, Kokoro, Lisa, Bayman, Christie, and possibly Zack, I really don't see how the rest of the cast really relate to the main story at all.

In a sense, they're really not that much different than Leon.

I mean, look at Leifang, she's had the same story for 5 games now. "OMG, Jann Lee is so hawt, I must defeat him"

I think in a fighting game, to take out a character because of story conflicts is pretty petty. Popularity I can understand, but story... Really, since when does story really matter to the point where you can justify removing a character because of it.

Leon was badass, and from the looks of it, pretty popular. And even though I'm not crying over it, I am kind of dissapointed to see him gone. I would love to see how much pain he would inflict during his power blow.

I still dont think it justifies that characters should be taken out of a game. To be frank, thats just lazy...

They had a special tag intro and outro in DOA4 (and maybe earlier), and are possibly in a circus together along with Leifang in DOA5. That's all I can think of.

Actually, I think that X and X2 are supposed to be canon. Irrelevant, but canon. I could be wrong though.

every fight everyone has ever played between characters in a DOA game is canon. especially the online matches. there's probably a canon explanation for lag, right?

Hayabusa is causing the lag. Every time he accidentally kills someone he didn't mean to, he rewinds the entire timeline, affecting everyone even remotely connected to it. Kind of like seeing a black cat in The Matrix. Now you know.

Nah you're over simplifying things. The VF5 characters added in DOA5 are incredibly unique and have a plethera of animations and work by a completely different set of rules.

For example in the Pai vs Genfu vid, she does a hold that puts Genfu in a unique stun that allows for follow ups. There's tons of small and unique details added to the system to fit them in properly. There's a lot more depth than meets the eye.

So you're saying the returning and new DOA 5 characters are not unique and don't have depth? You should really rethink that....

My thought was the cloned Ein learned Karate from spying on Hayate when Hayate was Ein. But except he becomes Evil and uses some dark arts mixed with Karate from Hitomi's father who was deceived to think it was the same guy.

The Final Boss shouldn't be Alpha it should be a clone of Hayate/Ein! Tired of Alpha...

On a more serious note, the final boss needs to be Donovan and we need a toned down playable version of him.
