Watched the movie. I liked it. A few too many fade to black edits in the beginning, VOs could have been a little more convincing, a couple other minor things but I liked it overall. IMO better than Advent Children in any case.

A couple things are explained in the movie as well regarding some promotional items as well as setting up for the game itself. Too bad the game had to be delayed because I really want to play it now.

I will preface this by saying that in general (art style, characters, gameplay, story, etc) , this game does not excite me at all, so you can call me biased or wrong to judge.

So, I saw that world trailer.
While the graphics are impressive, a lot of places just feel like a copy of real life. The more fantasy places are much more impressive and beautiful (imo), and make me want to explore them. While the ones based on reality, it just makes me want to see real places. Other than the graphical progress (which I fear will be ruined if they make the graphics worse for console), those places doesn't excite me, because to me it feels like it bases its wow factor on the photosimilarity.

I feel like that, in the future, years after its release, it won't be as beautiful as seeing Vagrant Story or Chrono Cross, because it's just a copy of reality that will feel obsolete because we will have even more powerful and realistic graphics.
Kind of like seeing TESIV: Oblivion years later.

Don't know if I explained myself well, lol. I feel like it doesn't have enough stylization and fantasy to look beautiful even when there will be much more realistic graphics.

The car glitch? Is that when they run you over?

There was a blue glowing boundary around the complete Duscae valley that you couldn't cross. The cars driving in the region however could. When you got yourself hit by one of the cars close to the boundary, they pushed you beyond it and you were able to explore more of the world. (It was quite tricky because cars would usually break in front of you.) Outside the boundary you could visit Titan under the shard and go as far as Lestallum even. But it was extremely glitchy and often the game would just shut down after a few minutes.

Here's a video of that method:

I wonder why it's there? Also I really like the look of the cars in Eos they still have 50's cars! The main characters though is very modern.

Also I'd have to say that even though a lot of the locations are realistic so they aren't some amazing never before seen thing I really like them and think they are beautiful and will be beautiful years from now, In fact I think the fact that there is realistic things right next to crazy fantastical things makes the fantasy things have even a bigger impact.

I do agree with you and we were actually talking about this over in the graphics and art style thread before. Let's get one of my posts in here:

The game world really gains much from these unique landmarks like that crystal mountain:

world2.jpg

Similarly the shard of Duscae and it's surrounding stone arches:

Or that rock in Galdin Quay:

galdin.png

It makes everything so much more interesting and fun to explore. I hope there are much more of these landmarks in the world because -let's face it- Eos seems a little too realistic and dull at times...

They could even go Xenoblade X crazy:

Even if technically very limited it looks almost better than FFXV in some cases... Imagination and a great art style really go a long way.

FFXV is however confirmed to be more fantastical towards it's end. What you saw in the video is just locations of the first half of the game. Tabata wanted the locations and story more realistical in the beginning ("a fantasy based on reality") to then transform everything into something fantastical and Final Fantasy-like. So, don't worry the really crazy locations seem to be still under wraps.

And then there is also FFXV's wildlife which is undeniably very beautiful and fantastical as you can see in this trailer and in that regard probably second to no other game:

Yay, I'm really excited that one of the best composers and one of the best orchestras will play on of the best current game soundtracks. O:

Bought and watched Kingsglaive. I actually really enjoyed it, though I suspected I might due to how much I liked Advent Children. Probably the best advertisement they could possibly have for FFXV for someone like me. I didn't like the demos at all but I'm still thinking about picking it up thanks to the world building done in the movie.

I can only agree with that. For what the movie was, I enjoyed it actually and I thought the lore and world design was amazing and really made me want to play the game even more. As I mentioned in my little review, I feared before that this Final Fantasy wasn't epic enough, not strange and fantastical enough. Not Final Fantasy enough basically. But it definitely is!

Weekly Jump magazin was reporting about more weapons in the game:

Wow, some badass guns in there. O:

Well I wasn't expecting Noctis to have a sniper rifle but whatever, It looks like the aiming is like first person shooters so that's a bit strange but I'm sure it will work.

Since Noctis can temporarily switch weapons with the other team mates in certain special moves, I guess that is one of Prompto's guns.
We've also seen him wield flame throwers and some kind of chainsaw before.

You know I was thinking Cindy is getting a lot of publicity but what I'm wondering how big her part in the game is going to be? If she just works at that garage then isn't she gonna be there for like 20 minutes and then be gone? Unless they've found ways to make her turn up more in the story since she does have a pretty big following.

Secret plot: She's the final boss in the game and a bonus character :D

She won't be just in 20 minutes of the game. She is this game's Cid. I know the English version named her "Cindy" but in Japanese, German and French she still is Cidney. I'll trust the original Japanese and EU versions. ;)
Also she has quests for you over the course of the game and more importantly she will upgrade your car in the course of the game. There were already videos where she is on the road too with her truck towing away the Regalia. Don't know what that is about. I hope the Regalia won't die every few kilometers. XD

Cindy/Cidney is on PAX too, by the way:

They even recreated her truck... x__X Their marketing budget must be astronomical... Too bad the promo blitz is pretty much useless now since they delayed the game for two months. They will have to prolong their campaign even longer with other events like this or the concert.

Okay well that's good to hear since I actually like Cindy/Cidney a lot so I'm happy to hear she'll be in the game for the whole story it seems to be like. And wow they must have so much money for marketing If they created her truck!

It's cool that she'll repair the car to in her truck and I don't think I'd heard before that that she gave quests.

They won't release any numbers (that would be bad publicity) but if you add the marketing budget to the 10 years of development and the development of it's two own graphic engines, first Ebony than Luminous and the movie and anime, this game game must be the by far most expensive game ever made.
We know that GTAV (including marketing) is with a cost of 265 million $ officially the most expensive game but I really doubt it actually really is if you compare it to FFXV. I would not be surprised if it triples that number. XD

I don't know how they have so much money to spend on this game, I hope they make their money back in the sales!

Didn't Tabata say they would have to sell at least 10 million copies to break even a while ago? 10 million (The Witcher 3 sold that much) is a lot but since it is a Final Fantasy and they always sell well, even over a prolonged period, that could maybe possible if the game is critically acclaimed. The whole critically panned Final Fantasy XIII triology sold 11 million as a comparison.

So if they sold 10 million copy's and they all cost £50 they'd make 500 million from the game to break even?

Well I hope they do since it would be sad if after all that the game didn't make back its money.
