Sooo...anyone interested in how the retail game build of Final Fantasy XV looks and performs...?
Polygon.com released 45 minutes of FFXV's retail game build in HQ. It is the already all too familiar Leide desert region but this is the actual, final game version that we will get to play in less than two months and that Tabata delayed the game for.
Not to already spoil the surprise but Tabata actually didn't lie, the game looks considerably better than just a couple of months ago. It is actually quite amazing what they eventually squeezed out of the consoles.
FFXV now runs at a rock-solid 30fps, is most of the time full 1080p resolution on PS4 (Xbox One is also stable 30fps but runs at a little lower resolution), the lighting has been upgraded again, there's sharper textures and no texture pop in anymore, foliage and LOD (level of detail in the distance) as well as IQ (image quality) have been greatly improved with considerably less jaggy character contours and hair.
Apart from just the graphics the menus and ascension grid are now finalized and there's lots of smaller improvements, like more party chatter and background music.
Long story short, here's the video, there are no spoilers in there:
Is this the first actual graphical upgrade that we witness in this console generation? XD
Over in the graphics thread I am going to make a few direct screen cap comparisons with the current and the Gamescom 2016 game build.
