Also you can go to the dashboard and dislike a player you lag with and it won't match you up with them again on Xbox at least.

Honestly, the avoid a player function on XBL doesn't work that well. It doesn't really avoid a player like it should for games that don't have a large online community, or a game that filters based on skill level (like DOA5). I still get people whom I've avoided as a match.

I believe one of the features of the new patch will allow you to see connection bars before the match starts, which is a godsend. I hate getting paired with the same laggy ass fools too.

I get the same. I try to avoid them but they show up again.

I have a funny problem. The ranking system, as we all know, is bad in the way it gives you points. Everyone, even the worst braindead button-smashers can become S+ given enough time, since losses don't take enough ranking points. So, at the moment my rank is A, and I already think it's too high compared to my actual skill level. I wouldn't want to rank up to S and then lose to other S-es all the time. I'd rather want my grade to get down to like B, which I feel is my actual skill level, so in lobbies people would know how much they should fear me or not fear me in advance.

DOA4 had so much better ranking system, you could actually lose your rank.

I'm personally not bothering with online at the moment until this patch is released. I honestly hope they've addressed the drop-out issue that I, and a lot of other people, seem to have. It gets to the point that I can't even play with people I know have good connections because it drops one of us out mid-match.

I also agree with the above post. DOA4's ranking system was far more universal, and reflected your skills a lot better because it was always active. Sure, people boosted, but it happens in every game. Until something happens with the online, I'm not bothering with it. It's far too infuriating in it's current state. I'm sure nobody will lose sleep over the fact that I'm not playing online, but locals are more fun anyway.

The avoid player feature doesn't really work because there's so few people playing lol It would be nice if you could filter by connection quality but it looks like we're not getting that. Post-patch I think the only difference is you may spend more time declining matches than actually playing

Hmm i like the feature except the fact that it will enable scrubs to avoid good players and fight only beginners to boost their rank:(

What does it matter if a few morons want to boost their rank?

The important think is we will be able to avoid laggers.

Also, if scrubs avoid good players: better for good players, they won't have to lose time with scrubs and they will play other good players instead.

PS: The ranking system is very bad. In VF5FS I only made it to Guardian (lower intermediate rank). In DOA5 I'm already A...

I'm actually not happy that we'll be able to decline ranked matches. I'll get declined a lot because people don't want to fight against me. I already get drops on the character select screen or winning round as it is.

Also, I have found that the connection rating is rarely accurate. I have 5-bar matches that lag tremendously, and 1-bar matches that only have the default online latency (which is still unplayable from a competitive standpoint).

I would probably only decline Helena players since it's basically an unwinnable match given the significant boost she receives from the latency (even in the best connection).

Well i just find it annoying when the top 100 of the leaderboards is full of cheaters like in DOA4, that is all. I find it annoying enough when i fight cheaters who use an arcade stick and use the turbo mode to slow escape and counter easily, so i really don't need the leaderboards to be full with cheaters.

I would decline Alpha players too because of the latency. Some of her attacks would be totally counterable if online didn't have such bad input lag.

The only thing that you should be able to see coming into a ranked match is latency. Who someone uses should not be displayed.

Also, not sure if this has been brought up, but being able to actually choose who you fight in ranked from a list is dumb. If this ever happens (in any fighting game), it's going to be abused to hell and back for boosting.

I don't mind Alpha players. You can't counter some of her stuff, but I knock her down one time and I can pressure her for the rest of the match. If she guesses right during the pressure, I generally have a life advantage and can turtle the rest of the match.

Against Helena... you can't do anything except block and hope you get a lucky guess on when she'll try to go low or throw (then hope that you ducked or pressed an attack button in time for it to register before you get thrown).

Alpha gets annoying because of the pressure she puts on you with the uncounterable attacks. Maybe I should try turtling more then.
Helena just gets annoying online for me. I'm basically stun trapped for the entire game because of the lag and effects of the stuns combined.
