Have any hope for a good story in DOA 6?

I personally don't . Because Team Ninja was never good with stories in their games.

I remember the first time I played DOA 2 the story was completely messed up . (On the other hand Tekken 4 and MK Deadly Allience and Deception had far better story and endings.)
DOA 2 was like an action movie that all of it's non action scenes are cut which is why in some parts you have no idea what the hell is going on.

For DOA 6, with the way it looks like it is going to be a simple tournament storyline for the side characters and the whole heroes vs Donovan for the main characters.
I at least hope that it becomes an entertaining mode and in some way have a replay value to it.(I hate story modes in FGs where you play it for 2-3 hours and then never ever touch it again.)

I think DOA6 will have a good story, from what we've seen from cutscenes and the general atmosphere, it's gonna be way darker and more serious than anything they've done before. My only issue is that the setting seems limited, alot of the cutscenes seem like they'll take place in the DOATEC Facility(The Museum stage and it's exhibits, The Freedom Survivor, Taylor Bar, and Colosseum are in it) and besides the hidden garden stage, Gym, and the Forbidden fortune stage and MIST lab(The Zero stage, Most hallway stage, and the dinosaur park are located in the MIST facility) there isn't much variety unless they'll show more in the full story.

Overall I think the story will be good but it'll get somewhat meh background wise but it's not surprising since most fighting games like SF5, Tekken 7, and even DOA5 used alot of the same in game stages for its story scenes. The storyline they used from Dimensions to DOA5 is way more organized and makes sense in comparison to the messy set up older DOA games had so DOA6 I think will be just fine. Plus we'll finally get proper introductions and backstories to Phase 4, Marie Rose, Nyo, and Honoka and Raidou

from the teasers, it looks like even the side characters will get sucked into the non-tournament conflicts. no, i don't have any hope because i've seen this "there's a tournament OH OH and there's a baddie organization!!" fighting game plot about 400 times already

but it's not a big deal as there are FAR better mediums than unga deplete health bar simulators to enjoy a story in

SC3's story mode used the good old "play n stages using one character" arcade format, but had a ton of replay value with the branching paths and secrets. that's probably the only time i found story mode in a fighting game entertaining and long-lasting
the modern timeline format where everyone's stories intertwine is ... okay, less fragmented, but ultimately not something i'd want to spend more than 2-3 hours in

^Doesn't really apply to all games but I think he's right as far as fighting games are concerned. I'm sure TN have a similar mindset.

The only way DOA6's story is going to be good, as in average, is if TN somehow becomes self-aware enough to realize that they realllly can't do fighting game stories properly after DOA5's train wreck, both figuratively and literally *ba dum tss*. I honestly wouldn't mind if 6's story is either a parody, callout, or pastiche of other fighting game's stories because as it stands, Kasumi: The Clone Wars will get OLD if they don't nip it in the bud by the middle of it. If anything, it will be cool to see how Marie and Honkytonk finally meet each other, if Helena will finally spill the beans about Kokoro's past, and most importantly, how the love triangle between Rig, Diego, and Hayate plays out. Plus DOA6 is supposed to be the final season of Mugen Tenshin Family Values so if Kasumi can finally gain inner peace I'll be good with that too.

...or just completely make fun of themselves with the plot and have random characters pull guns on each other, b***hslaps in every other scene, make NiCO a weaboo obsessed with anime tiddies, and give us Robot Honoka clones or something. Make me laugh with the story instead of at it like I have been for the past 8-or-so years! Like I said before though, they aren't self aware enough to know that a good chunk of the story got crazy and jumbled nor do they realize that they're standing on a literal comedy goldmine here so I can only hope that it'll be... not boring like L0L Calibur 6's powerpoint presentation of a story mode.

I've always enjoyed Team NINJA's storylines more so than any other fighter out there. I don't think they fucked anything up with DOAD.

Anyway I will take the complete 3D experience over SCs picture book and D&D story.

Now I desperately wanna see Ayane pull a gun on Kasumi and have Kasumi teleport behind her and be like "God I'm so tired of this shit can you get away from me already" and then just bitch slap her and go lmao

I don’t think DOA’s stories have ever been amazing, but they’re better than most other fighting games at it. Where DOA especially shines is that almost every character has something interesting to do, and is given a decent amount of attention. I hope at some point they move away from “evil corporation wants to clone a ninja,” but really, we’re here for the characters.

I actually really liked DOA5’s story mode with how everyone’s little stories intersected (or didn’t intersect). It seems like DOA6 is doing a more robust, ambitious version of 5’s system, and that sounds cool to me.

Every fighting tournament is sponsored by evil corporations. Tekken, DOA, Virtua Fighter, KOF...? No? isnt that a weird coincidence.

That's a good point. I guess it's true in real life, too, with like UFC and WWE.

Actually I would love it if Donovan turned into a wacky Vince McMahon character. I guess that's kind of what he was in the DOA movie.
