Just asking, but I've noticed that this thread is geared towards (imo) being ridiculously offensive with said character. Where is the defensive help? I'm literally dealing with this as we speak. How do I play against the rest of the roster. Surely, I can't controller-fuck everybody, but I'm bad if I don't do that, but I don't want to either. No disrespect too any guru, I am just tired of the "You got the best character with/for that tool, so only use that tool" How can I have the "best" character when all of them or doing that? But yeah, some actual help would be nice! (Sorry for the rant)

That's how I am. I'm a defensive player focused on holds and crushes rather than offensive rushdown.
The catch to being defensive in DOA is that you need to be able to read and bait, which is hard to teach, because its a matter of rhythm.

Baiting I do alot, holding though? However, I certainly bait those! Which I tell alot of new players! Holding even if you're really good at it, can mess you up. Blocking is safer since it allows you to throw punish unsafe moves (mashing sees alot of them appear - smh) ITA, it is harder to teach or is it? Not to mention, I love a good defensive oriented game - not a psuedo one (which I also see alot of online). We should play sometime. (Oddly, I haven't seen Nightpup, yet)

It depends on the characters and their holds. As I main Mila I have massively advantageous holds as they almost all set up Mount lol.
But when I'm using Leon? Much less emphasis on holds. Still defensive and trying to crush with either one though.

IKR! Ugh! lol Yeah, Leon is certainly a powerhouse character, but since I bait holds (many Leon players do hold alot, fme), he's not an issue. In fact, if I see, Bass, Tina, Bayman (especially Bayman, ask Russian_Chiropractic19) ... so, yeah, be careful playing me. (Of course, the strike-first, hold next mentality rears itself when facing Alpha ... yet, you know what mine is thinking (even if you are successful) which I think too many take for granted. If you hold correctly 99 strikes, who says you'll correctly hold the 100th or that I'm not counting on it? Looks like we're gonna have fun!! XD!

Should be able to play this weekend. Cool playing Awesmic a few weeks ago. Been trying to play a Leon specialist for a number months by inviting some people in here to a lobby, but I know we're on different schedules & in different regions.
I'll be at a wired connection, am low (?) intermed., and you can see my region. I've focused a lot on Brad, LeiFang and some others, but hope to improve with Leon in the next month (weekends) because I like his playstyle & character, and have a winning Halloween costume design for him.

I'm selling my X360 for an PS3, as I want to play online with more friends without having to pay for a membership. And as I realized earlier, more and more people here have a PS3 to play with. Plus, I prefer the controllers and it is very hard to slip up with.
Another reason for doing this is so that I can get GG:Xrd, My games back, Samurai Musou 4, and JJBA:ASB. I will do this on the weekend maybe, so yeah. PS3!

Also, this isn't really about how to be offensive with any character, it's about receiving information on any said character. How to play them, how to fight them, what you want to learn, people to play, etc etc. All people really need to do just speak up and ask something, really.
My forum has a thread about fighting Ayane, but I do know that sort of thing isn't really available in other character forums either. That solely depends on the members that are most active in that particular character forum.
But yes, if people seek something in particular, just ask.
