Is It Weird That I Prefer The English Voices?

I never liked the English voices mainly because I grew up playing DOA with only the Japanese voices. And, like almost everyone said, Lei Fang's English voice is just plain garbage. Helena's voice during cutscenes is okay but during gameplay, she sounds just plain unnatural.

Good: Kasumi
Neutral: Kokoro. Can't stand the battle cries, because the Japanese suits her so much better. But the rest of he dialogue is okay.
Bad: Everyone else.

Never have been bout English voices in games from JPN games (or any media) as it is never reflective of the creators' vision of the characters. For those who reside in the United States, unlike probably some of you here who started out on Cartoon Network's Toonami (DragonBall Z), I've been around since the Sci-Fi (SyFy) Saturday Anime days and the only acknowledged improvement made to Overseas localization was that the characters' original names were retained later on as at first even the names were changed (last example was the Tokyopop's localization of Initial D when Takumi was changed to Tak). Was producer Christopher Nolan's original intent for viewers to watch The Dark Knight Rises in French? Of course not.

Classic statement. Dubs are for scrubs.

Yes, because when it comes to "classic vision", every creator assumes their audience doesn't know a thing about the language they are using in the medium. And somehow I don't think Christopher Nolan is crying any tears at night because people do watch TDKR in French; not only does it help the bank account, but it actually gives his product an audience that would be categorically barred were it up to presumptuous types who imagine art to be so stale.

Dubs sucks if you don't enjoy it. Some of us don't mind things being dubbed. Not everyone know Japanese, or want to read English text when you can hear the character come to life with voice. I feel like when they make things "dubbed"(especially good ones) it shows that they care about the people who speak that said language and there culture and don't have to Japanese everything up(especially in 2012). I would feel the same way about anywhere else. I also don't mind Japanese voice either mind you. But what is wrong with the option? The creator vision should be that everyone plays video games. Not all the characters are Japanese nor come from the Japanese background. So what is the creator vision?

Personally I don't mind dubbed VGs, or anime. What I don't like is dubbed "live action movies". If a movie is French and based in France I want to hear it in French(I love District B13). If a movie is from Mexico and originally in Spanish I rather hear it in Spanish(I love the movie The Mariachi). Not trying to turn this thread into Dubbed vs No Dubbed. This might seem like a overly sensitive post. But truthfully I can't sleep and is bored and looking for any excuse to post. In the end you either like, or not. That's all that matters. XD

I would pay 10 dollars for a retro Jann Lee voice DLC

I'm told it wasn't Team NINJA's decision to change voice actors. Most likely, the voice actor just declined to continue the role, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with the new audio tracks for all the Dragon Ball / Z merch that's coming out these days (Remember, the original DB/Z were recorded in monoaural).

I wish there was an option like SSFIV where you can select and choose which character's voice you would like in Japanese or English. As much I prefer the Japanese voice over all around, I love Bass' English voice the most out of the bunch, especially his fight intro, in game and victory phrases.

I also like Helena's and Bayman's as well.

That'd be great. I'm used to listening to some voices in English and some in Japanese (In VF5FS Shun for example speaks Japanese and Lion English) so I'd love to have Gen Fu speak Japanese and Eliot speak English for instance.

Don't worry, TN announced they are adding Young Jann Lee as a character DLC, complete with the old voice actor, dragon gunner being low high low mid low and doing 10% more damage, an i5 dragon kick, buffed damage, and a full command list of tracking moves.
