Just light and mid weights does this work on.

This is true. The one I usually did worked on all weight classes as well as all walls. Less damage, but safer and not strict timing at all.

And yup weight does matter. Another reason Kasumi was on the unsafe side. Light as a feather.

I'd adivse staying away from her hoshinpo dash and walls. Mainly from her 6F+P when going against lights and mids.


One thing I love about DoA is that combo's can change because of weight class and not everything is possible against everyone. It makes you need the knowledge to know how to fight against others and to know what works and what doesn't.

Virtua Fighter has this. If you really like this aspect of the gameplay I suggest picking this up.

Her weight has nothing do with her being on the 'unsafe side'. It's her attacks frame-wise leaving her in the negative (minus) from almost all of them on block, and some of her good ones on normal hit.

(Yeah, I only tried is against Ayane so I'm sure it doesn't work against mid and higher)

(Lol, yeah I'm aware of that...She likes to slide under them or ruin the combo from slamming them into the wall on the second punch and then I have a sadface :( lol)

I noticed everyone seems to be picking this up for practice with the guest characters and just for learning how the Virtua Fighter system works also having fun in the meantime haha, if I can I will try to get it, but no promises very tight on money lately :(

I know those are what make her unsafe. I'm just saying her weight is another weakness. Easier bounce = more damage and less chances to hold. Kasumi takes more smacks to launch someone like bayman as opposed to the reverse.

I guess that is where we are different in opinions of 'weakness'. Yeah, she is open up to max juggles given a critical launch/bounce. I am fully aware of that; which is one of the reasons I don't spend too much of my time in a juggle state. Seldom do I give chances for that to happen.

10 toes down, what the fuck is a light weight to me.

How exactly are you suppose to use the teleport in a combo? Or do you just click the slice command and she automatically teleports.

After :7::K:, press :P::+::K: and she'll teleport and attack with a downward slice punch or press :6::P::+::K: and she'll teleport into Hoshinpo and you can follow it up with :P: or :K::K:

Not to forget that you have to be aware of your ground situation. You might incline 10 inches but that affects the juggle. I had to learn that from Bass in 3.1 and you just have to know how to freestyle the combo.

Oh ok can you grab after the teleport? And do you think we might get more than just those variations?

No grab after the 7K teleport. I know I said that earlier but, it is how I saw it. It didn't look like a punch to me but more-so a grab that toppled the person in the air. I apologize for that if I confused anyone. It seems that it's a downward punch and not a grab.

If :7::K: connects then the opponent will be in the air so you wouldn't be able to throw them. I tried it on blocking opponent and it didn't seem to work so you'll have to get the hit first. However, I believe I was able to get it after :9::P::K: even if the opponent blocked it. So you would be able to throw them in that situation but I'm not 100% sure.

It would be cool to get more variations but I'm not sure what else they would add. If she could teleport behind the opponent in Hoshinpo, that would make for some interesting setups against wake up kicks.

Does Kasumi's hair change color by each outfit? In her black outfit she has brownish hair and her other ones its more like her old color just darker.

No. She's one of the most unsafe characters in the game.

Some of her worst moves now have better options. Her back flip kick can now go into a teleport, where as before using it was probably gonna get you killed 8/10 times.

This only works on hit, not when it's blocked.

Do you guys think she's gonna stand up to the other top tier characters?

She can hang. I'd say she's a solid mid-tier at the moment.

Neat. Does anyone know if her Teleport holds are expert holds again, or are they the same from DOA4?

Single input, one for highs, one for mids.

One of my friends Lei Juan(aka Souretsoup? idk how to spell it) said that there was a pretty difficult combo to pull off with Kasumi after her forward throw launch? something like (not sure if you had to do the punches or not) :P::P: :7::K: teleport behind and finish with :P::P::P::K:....w/e it was it had pretty damn strict input.

The timing is not at all hard compared to combos in most other fighting games. The trick is to dash as soon as possible after the launch. If you delay, the opponent is too low to land the full combo.

Yeah I got the clarification from him...I wasn't sure if she actually teleported or she Hoshinpo'ed under them. Anyway, it's still cool :D

Also, can't wait to read the info being put on IGN :)

Nah... that's lighting, also water and dirt affect their looks I believe. It'll look bright red in very lite areas.

Alright thats good. But in the picture above it looked like the oposite. The darker the area the more orange her hair was and the brighter the darker her hair was.

I understand. Obviously I try not to get juggled as much as possible. It does happen. I don't want to come off as if I think her weight is a huge drawback. Like, it's extremely small weakness in my book. It's rare that you get hit by an air combo that wouldn't hit everyone else in the game anyway.

DOA4 combos I like to do with and or without a wall present...mind you some are just for flash and to be different than the norm since most decent Kasumi players know her basic combos...and for those who don't know the dash aka - means to hit the free button "Hold" in order to cancel out your string so that you are able to start anew.

All of this is off her :6:Free+Punch.

Works on Light Weights.
:P::P::P:- :P:- :6::P:Down:K:
:P:- :P::P::P:- :6::P::K::K:
:P::P::P:- :P::P::P::P::P:
Plenty can be done with Light Weights whether a Wall is present or not, it's pretty much left up to your creative minds/execution.


Works on Middle Weights.
:P:- :P:- :P::P::P:- Down:K: If timed right..."force get up/reset"
:P::P::P: - :P::P::P::P::P:
:P::P::P:- :P:- :6::P:Down:K: If timed right.."force get up/reset"

There are many combos she can do with her DownHold but when fighting Middle Weights I often prefer...
:P::P::P:- :6::P:Down:K: Puts them in a force get up situation thus giving you countless options.

This is off the top of my head and now since I'm dusting some rust off, I'll be getting back to you guys with more. Hopefully you can find something useful within some of this.

Some of these combos should work in the Alpha build mine "her double knees and few other variations" but I didn't go to E3 to test them out, but once DOA5 comes out I'm hopeful of providing useful information.
