Honestly, the whole discussion has turned into a silly back and forth with some very unfunny and immature people not leaving any room for a sensible discussion (as usual).

I'd still suggest banning her with all this money on the line. If most of you here are worried about what others outside this community might think, don't worry because they either a) don't care or b) been waiting for this news anyway, because they've been looking at the crazy damage her OHs do and all her long-ass strings.

There's no need to even be in this topic discussing Alpha for tournaments anymore. Some people aren't even getting the point still but keep insisting on posting with no technical strategies as to why she shouldn't be banned except for death, Emperor COW, V.Rayne, Sorwah & Codemaster. Just basically saying "It's stupid to ban her. You're just scared". If you watched Perfect Legend's stream (on DOA5U) when he was displaying character's frame data & some tools, you would see that Alpha's 7K is -5, her 33T got a boost, as well as her 236236T damage was almost 75% on hi counter if you were to add in the punches/kicks connecting. Not to mention some of her string manipulation. But no, "it's stupid to temporarily ban her" with 0 facts about her to back it up

Ya and whats your point? Her legitimacy is in question, she is easily leaning towards being a broken character. When money is on the line, logic dictates you ban a character that overpowers the entire cast.

Overall she is the same character as she is in 1.03. All the things people are complaining about were present before 5U, where were all these people crying back then? On paper she looks absolutely absurd but in high level/tournament play she has never done very well. Unless people start wrecking every tournament with her then she cannot be classified as broken.

Lastly I love how all these "new member" people are popping up parroting what recognisable name players are saying. Try coming up with your own opinions for once instead of repeating what others are saying. As soon as you use the term "broken" about a character who has never been able to win shit and only wins due to the opponent not knowing the match up you lose all credibility.

It reminds me of Tager in BlazBlue. He was the worst character in the game for so many years but he was a fantastic scrub/online killer. Alpha is similar. She is an "oddly" balanced character so placing her on a tier list is hard.

She hits hard, has great range, godly throws, a variety of tracking moves and decent speed. But she can't delay her strings for shit, has awful string manipulation and tons of high's in her strings.

There are very easy ways to deal with her, and if you are good at reading a free cancel which many tournament players are, SR is a good example of this you can deal with her long strings very easily, especially seeing as her longest string have no decent mix ups built into them.

Personally I'd say give her vastly improved string manipulation and nerf the shit out of her throw game but I have not spent any time with her in 5U so I can't say for sure what she needs. The fact that nobody has brought up any critiques that are really new in 5U makes me think this hysteria is for nothing.

IIRC xcaliburbladez has done quite well with her in tournaments.
If you meant "on a regular basis" it should be noted that she's not selected on a regular basis.
It should also be noted that "never" is a very poor word choice for such an argument.

Nice ad hominem fallacy.

Bladez dominates with Helena and brings out Alpha for shits pretty much. He always leads with Helena. If he was leading with Alpha for 99% of his matches instead of Helena this would be a completely differently conversation but that's not the case.

Having the 'Well-known member' tag on doesn't make you a good player or someone very knowledgeable and being a New Member also doesn't neccesarily make you a know-nothing scrub. Let's leave the insults out because it only makes you (not pointing fingers or naming names) look like a dick head.

I'm in the UK and I could say that I don't give two shits what happens at TFC, but I do care because as a tourney organizer, I would need to take responsibility and realize that I'm in an unpredictable situation where someone could just pick this character up and win +$8000. This would make the game and community look bad and add more firewood for trolls. I wouldn't want people to leave an event thinking "man, that sure was a joke".

If the character doesn't end up being broke, then good. But right now, we're not in the situation where we can sit-down and test every single thing. People would want to practice their own characters' combos and setups and learn other match-ups in just a few days.

I really don't have time to explain logical rhetoric to you, but it goes something like this:
"She has never done well in tournaments" means not once has she done well in tournaments. A single counter-case invalidates this premise and the proposed argument.
Counter: she has done well in a tournament at least once (xcalibur).
Premise is thus faulty. No conclusion can be accepted if it is built on a single faulty premise.

There are good arguments for not banning Alpha. This was not one of them.

If all you are interested in is semantics then there is no discussion to be had so we may as well leave it at that.

rhetoric =/= semantics

Your goal is to convince those in doubt that alpha is viable in tournaments. Saying that alpha has never done well in a tournament scene isn't helping your case in the slightest.
