Am I Zealot? Just wondering. Also, I think Ryu is a popular character, but I think if he was as bad as Brad Wong or as hard to play as like Kage, I don't think people would pick him. People pick Ryu because he's got a cool headband, but also because its easy to beat your friends who ALSO don't know how to play the game with your mastery of being able to do hadokens and shoryukens on command.

Ya but they don't know any better. He's a popular character and I think regardless of how good or bad he is we are going to see him as the most used character (at least online). Nothing particularly wrong with it but I do get annoyed seeing him so much when playing online. It would be nice if interest shifted throughout the rest of the cast instead of fighting Busa back to back to back..."oh this guy is picking someone else, cool" *Kasumi* "FUUUUUUUUUU"

lol

Yeah, you're Zealot. And I think you mixed SF Ryu with RYU HAYABUSA there.

This sums everyone's experience with DOA4 and 2U online.

DOA4 for sure, but I don't think I saw too many Kasumi's in 2U. Jann Lee on the other hand.....

What I hope to see in DOA5 is other characters used more. Tina looks like she might be with her improvements at least.

Be warned, it will be a BUSA fest again, though.

I dunno. When thinking about it, Busa was a little hard to use in the Alpha so people might just move over to Hayate.

To be honest, no one in DOA is really very hard to use. I don't know how much different 5 is yet, but BnB's were pretty mindless and punishes are generally just a grab (except in 3.1, which from what people tell me, DOA5 will be similar in this aspect, which I'm really looking forward too.) So to be honest, I'm really kind of countering my own point, but I was really only playing Devil's Advocate anyways. I think when it comes to DOA we'll always see tons of Hayabusa, Kasumi, Hayate, and Ayane. Although I think Ayane use from DOA2 to DOA4 went way down when she basically went from being a top tier character to only a high/high-mid tier character. In 2 she was pretty mindless... 4+p+f -> 4+p = win. For some reason I just doubt Tina will be popular, even if she is top tier. Bayman too. Everyone has been saying how good Bayman looked at the E3 build or whatever, and if he is top tier, I doubt people will flock to him, because the crowd that buys DOA, isn't picking it up to look at dudes.

We'll be playing mostly among ourselves so there's no need to worry. I'm 95% sure I'll be going with Helena, Tina or Lee.

You better get this shit on PS3, I don't feel like buying another Xbox Fork.

edit: The more I watch vids of Akira, I really think he's going to be top tier, or at least high tier. That dude has some mother fucking damage output. He honestly might be the first character I fuck with if he isn't as tough to play as his VF version. Not because thats to tough for me, but the degree of difficulty to play him in VF compared to playing any DOA character would be ridiculous.

With the homosexual sailor outfit and everything¿

please eliot is as straight as an arrow and a ladies man, i mean he was spittin game at christie in his story mode and got her longing for that underage prepubescent penis. his questionable attire is the most important part of my gameplan with him. i always used his C4 costume in DOA4 to get in the head of the homophobic haters who foolishly underestimate me due to being faced against someone wearing a tube top with short shorts. you best believe that whatever his most flamboyant outfit is in 5 will be the one i wear exclusively while showing the doubters the error of there ways

no need to worry about that, the moment i built a gaming pc was the moment the 360 was rendered worthless for me. ps3 is the only console i own now, hit me up with a friend request

To be fair Mike, every time I go home on leave my plan is as follows:
1. Wear dress whites (I'm a sailor)
2. Get bitches
3. ????
4. Profit

I'll hit you up with one tonight, but we'll probably lag like crazy on any fighting game together.

His air grab is not the problem.

Mind explaining?

I figured his air throw made any launch he does susceptible to triggering dangerzones, giving him more damage potential than others.

Of course his stance seems to be better and hella useful this time around.

If that alone puts him in top/high tier than I'm sure Jann Lee will be too, since both of his basic BnB's, ending with :P:, :2: :P:, :K: or :6: :K:, :4: :6: :K: will probably trigger them.

I'm pretty sure just about any character can trigger a danger zone off just about any launch, with or without an air throw. Plus, not all stages have danger zones, some danger zones are more damaging than others, and I don't see too many stages with enough danger zones to trigger one every round. Not to mention, if you're good, you're going to be making every attempt to avoid the danger zones.

The characters with the easiest guaranteed combos/damage are going to be the best characters. As of E3, that revolves heavily around sit-down stuns and critical burst. Hayabusa has both, but he doesn't excel at either. I didn't think he was top tier at E3. Good... but not the best.

As of E3 we didn't really get to see the full roster though either. I mean, I don't know how much time you guys got to mess around with your characters before the tournament, but the guy using Akira obviously didn't have a ton of knowledge of what he was doing. Swoozie was playing like it was DOA4. So, I don't feel like E3 was a GREAT showcase for what you could do. Decent, but not great.
