Meeting Hayashi, IGN tourney, and info on i46

Alpha could wear a outfit that hides her identity and her body.(kinda like what Ryu wears but has a full mask also.)
Would make sense that she would wanna conceal self and not be this loud and colorful transparent being in the open.

It'd certainly be cool to see Alpha with some sci-fi armor on her. KOS-MOS was all jelly-like in Episode II and pulled it off rather well.

I enjoyed talking to Hayashi since we got to talk gamedev on a few occasion and he signed my copies. The event was pretty laid back and some old school players were there too.

Game is fun to play and it's not as dumb as DOA4 (and this was the 0.95 build of the game, so it's probably close to completion). Bass has some really big hitboxes and overall he's fun to play. He's not as comfortable for me as DOA3 Bass, but he certainly has high damage potential. He lost a few of his ground pick ups like the hcf grab pick up. A front pick up still leads to a 50/50, but his back turned pick ups don't guarantee much (if anything) as far as I know. I don't even know if wall-TFBB gives you a ground pick up (not like if back-turned pick ups actually give you anything other than some advantage). The charge grab is actually very risky imo and you really need to catch a good player off guard. I'm very happy with how the different throws are laid out in the movelist though.

I kept on getting TFBB on a few occasion because the buffer system is just dumb. Never realized how easy the 6314 TFBB shortcut is on the 360 pad. 64 def-hold is his old DOA++ mid punch hold (I think), which I thought was a nice touch.

Cow did give me some good ideas for combos after the event which I might try next time.

Matt's Make-your-own move is in the game too and it looks BOOM! First time I got that move I did the SPD motion and kept on doing it for the rest of the event. Didn't realize it was actually a hcb throw 'till I checked the movelist afterwards.

Cow went on a sperging rant for about 10 minutes until the event organizer just raised his own voice and it was hilarious. Can't blame Cow; we're both stick players and they only had 360 pad set-ups for earlier games (sticks were for finals only).

and yeah, I do agree with Cow that the game needs a crazy person.

Yeah the crazy thing with the buffering system is that it accepts the WR part at either the front or the end of the notation. So you can get TFBB by doing 643H+P. This is also why you get it after a dash-in 41236H+P because you're hitting 6641236H+P which is a 64 and then a crouching motion coming back to forward/standing.

What what whaaaat? So maybe you can buffer the TFBB after all. And you know what? I'll be doing SPDs instead of hcb from now, just because I can and the game lets me.

I would also like to see her in gold, and perhaps a white or clear transparant look, something that would make her look like a ghost. Hell maybe even a shadowy look.

I also thought of the white palette swap. That would look badass. Gold and shadowy are cool too.

Honestly, can you blame me?
what kind of tournament organizer tells you, "BUT THERES NO MONEY OR PRIZES INVOLVED WHY DO YOU CARE?" it was never about the fucking money! its just about the damn satisfaction of winning!

Then it kinda really ticked me off when they reduced the tournament from a best out of 3 to a single fucking match.

As much as I prefer double elim, I was ok with the single elim concept since this has been the standard format in the UK for the longest time... only in the last year or so have they started introducing the concept of double elim.

the worst one was... "IF YOU GET TO THE FINALS WE'LL LET YOU PLAY ON STICK" seriously ? just like that off the bat ?
I was forced to play ayane for the most part because she doesn't require much technicalities in her inputs as opposed to Leifang....
(for fucks sake every time I tried to do 46 or 64 P on pad i got her fucking 236 or her 214 motions, and all my advanced hold attempts we're basicly fucked.. which reminds me, because of that same issue I couldnt do advanced holds which is my normal reaction to MID attacks since DOA2 arcade.. and you guys know how integral mid holds are. so I had this hesitation with mid holds because it wouldn't get through to my thick skull that I could only use 1 direction ) I was playing so shit but somehow I managed to pull through.

Also I don't use button binding on pad because I'm just not accustomed to the concept. my controls are A=H , X=P, B=K ... and I just try to use my thumb for the different combinations of those 3 buttons.

The worst part is when the guy was like, "doesn't it give you an unfair advantage when you end up playing on stick against a pad player ? " .. and I was like really ? when a guy is playing pad all his fucking life and mastered its functionality you expect me to be on par with his level by never touching a pad? Its like asking a Chinese person to read Japanese, he can get the idea of whats being said from most the of the Kanji but he just wont be able to say it and he will surely miss out on alot of unreadable stuff. For some fucked up reason they thought that using stick is cheating ..

Of course I would rage.

This is why I just stopped giving a shit later because I knew I will have the build for 3 days nonstop at i46.so i spent most my time with Hayashi at the bar.

Kitchener, you should really come to i46. I could use a helping hand in commentary from someone that knows how to speak DOA lingo.

You could also try out all your combos in a more layed back manner and ON FUCKING STICK.

I'm heading to Telford in a few hours to set everything up. should be a blast.

Is there going to be a stream for i46 and if so, can you give us the link or something :D
There will be a stream indeed

Plus, there will also be some side video uploads if everything gets set up well sent straight to my youtube channel.

Will link all feeds as they come through.

So the prize for an event that doesn't allow stick "with no prizes or money involved" was a stick for a platform the winner doesn't own? That's hilarious. At the bare minimum, how are DOA5 events supposed to be taken seriously when they don't allow for stick?

What about Zack???? Zack is that crazy and wacky character in DOA. He has got a clown outfit and he wears an afro with it. Surely, those are signs of a crazy Sick person?!?!?!?!?

As for the event, It was more of a casual event rather than a competitive tournament event. It was a shame that the tournament was only one match. They did first to 2 only for the final, which actually got me slightly upset. I really want to go to i46 but I'm afraid I wont be able to make it.
