I live in NYC, but I'm not a big fan of travelling outside of Manhattan(without cabs or a car). I'm fairly busy and constant travelling isn't exactly within my means.

Is it like a security thing? Or money? Or do you dislike trains? Also how far from Downtown are you? If you're close by you maybe able to work something out.

I've been wishing for this for a while but isn't it extremely feasible that we could get a weekly or bi weekly local tournament going at Next Level. You could even round robin it for like $10 entry fee on the weekends.

I'd go if we could guarantee at least 10 or more!

That's $25 giving train + Next Level itself. Not to mention it may discourage some from attending again. However if the venue were moved I can see this being a thing.

Well when you travel somewhere and intend on chilling for quite a while money for food is par for the course.

But $10 venue fee and $10 tournament fee might definitely be too much for a weekly for some. For a bi-weekly it shouldn't be but I understand.

Hmmm i'll brainstorm in the meantime.

I need a good $20, to prepare to go there. @Dr Snipe is right, the train is another thing. The food, I buy, usually chinese ain't cheap compared the BX (It's actually kind of the same, but 5.50 or 6.00 gets you way better options.) So, it's like $21, which includes the day pass. Now, you talking 10 more, that 31. I rather put it in another 20, do some drinking. My 21st B-day coming up.

Perhaps a monthly is the most financially feasible for most. Shelling out $80 a month on venue and entry fee not including travel and food fees is a lot.

The most practical would be a bi-weekly $40 a month not including food and travel fees or a monthly $20 a month not including food and travel fees. Both of these sound reasonable.

Btw I grew up in pretty much every borough of NY all my life. I only recently moved out to Yonkers NY. I hate traveling as well unless its vacation fun but perhaps for a bi-weekly or monthly it shouldn't be so bad.

I dunno was just interested in an actual local tournament since I have zero desire to play in the bullshit that is DOA5U online anymore where negative frames are positive and people play like they have nothing to lose.

@DestructionBomb @splslick your in put would be valuable here.

@Something-Unique can you tell me why this is becoming money focused?

I'm looking at the once a month thing but we seem to meet up once a month as well. Also most important what is the split 1st - 2nd or is there a 3rd? Winner take all seems wrong to me and an easy $100 might cause issues.

Money focused? What do you mean?

When you run a tournament there's always a small entry fee and then a pot because of it. The above is tournament standard. The only reason I discussed anything else money related is because others mentioned how expensive it already was so a bi-weekly and or monthly would make the most sense.

The main thing I was interested in here was just that a local tournament and thats the standard that goes along with it.

However if its an inconvenience to the meetups you guys already have casually at the place then disregard the idea is all. Nothing more, nothing less.
