Proposed Ban on Square Stages (excluding Danger Zone)

I think that the ridiculous square stages should be banned from offline tournament play because:

1. They suck.
2. They don't display what's unique about DOA.
3. I am pretty sure most people don't like them. I'm not alone on this by a long shot.
4. Maybe Team NINJA would notice that we don't like the stages and limit those kinds of stages to one or none down the road.
5. We would have a stronger community pertaining to environmental awareness.
6. More intense tournament matches.

Maybe keep one square on, like the wrestling ring I guess? But the big blanks might as well be dojos to some degree and I think they should go. What does everyone else think?

I thought this was a joke topic... I mean yeah danger zones are a part of DOA but the focus should be on the players themselves. I can watch a thousand high level SF4 matches on the training stage and it'll never get old as long as the players are good.

To me the best DOA matches to watch have nothing to do with stages (or characters etc), but it's when the players know how to block, use spacing, and don't whiff a dozen holds per round. Those can be rare even in top 8s lol

....There is literally no reason to ban these. In fact they are the most balanced and fair as there are characters that take more advantage of certain stage elements than others as well as characters that have more strengths and weaknesses with walls present.

Danger Zone is one thing, nearly a 3rd of the game's stages? No.

Just to give benefit of doubt that this topic is sincere enough and not another trash joke topic...

Any objective reasons why square stages should ever considered being banned besides subjective reasons like "they suck" and such? At least for Dojo you can make a form of argument that the stage wasn't meant for competitive play. You know what I think "sucks"? Stages with too little room to maneuver. Stages with too much room to maneuver. Stages that can nearly kill you off one hit confirm that almost turns the game into Divekick. Characters that make it hell for Ein. That people wear socks with sandals at tournaments. Stuff that would suit my self-interests if they were to disappear, heavily modified, or at least banned. Just because I think something sucks or other such nonsense reasons that can easily be disproven doesn't necessarily mean I should start saying "Ban this and ban that".

Considering the community actually entertained the idea of banning cosmetic costumes it wouldn't surprise me if square stages has some serious talk to get banned hence why this is getting a semi-serious answer from me. Not to mention "ban" threads seems to be a seasonal discussion here on FSD.

What the problem? It's too hot to wear boots/sneakers yet no freaking way i wanna let my feet exposed. Anything real aside from "looks stupid?" And sure you dont have a problem of stink cause textile in sandal has enough ventilation.

Yeah because we definetely want to showcase what a fun and balanced game DOA is with solid matches like genfu on ends of the earth. Melee should only do majors on poke floats and rainbow cruise because the other stages are boring.

We ended up on Eventhubs, Kotaku and many other sites, for the wrong reasons. An experience that would be best not repeated tsk, tsk.

But DOA1 all had square arenas, but instead of ring outs like VF and Soul Blade, it was Danger Zone. Banning square stages takes away what makes DOA, DOA! Lol

The only square stages that I removed from random filter are Dead or Alive, Arrival and Aircraft Carrier. The rest of them are fine.
