GameSpot has both its written and video reviews up. They gave DOA 5 a 7.5, or "good."

Some asshole said:
The Good:
-Complex and hard-hitting fighting mechanics
-Stable online play
-Smooth character animations

The Bad:
-Poorly executed educational mode
-Sorting replays is a chore
Can't believe with "complex and hard-hitting fighting mechanics" and "stable online play," they knocked almost 3 points off for story mode. Why do I have a hunch Tecmo didn't pony up as much as Namco... :Genfu:

Edit: @Maxwell Aaah! Ninja!! XD

The game is awesome but...
Sorting replays is a core!!!! Take 1.5 points argh!!! Poorly excecuted educational mode lets knock another point of it. Sounds Fair Now.

I guess I have what it takes to work with any of these sites! *Sarcasm*

Gamespot's review is good, both written a video. I got all the information I needed if I were on the fence about the game (which I'm not I'm getting my collectors edition today!) the score isn't relitive to me, in fact I don't care about scores and y'all shouldn't either it's what's in the content of reviews. If I let scores dictatate what games I bought, then I'd have missed out on great games this gen (like Nier) and bought some games I would have regretted. (like GTA 4, 10 on IGN....riiiiight)

So, according to reviews thus far, DoA4 is a much better game than DoA5?

I actually write reviews in my blog at www.mikenieto.blogspot.com and try to be as objective and play the game for a much as possible before writing. This "main media" reviews just make me want to vomit. Another article somewhere is bashing DOA5 for using three buttons because "it doesn't allow as many options as Tekken" but in the same site the VF5 review states they did a wonderful job at simplifying everything with just three buttons. What a fucking joke. This is why Call of Duty sells so much.

I was just having a browse of your blog then. Very easy to navigate & nicely structured out there mate. Props.

You got good taste in games too.

Thanks. I originally created it to keep a personal diary of my gaming/anime/collecting activities but after being witness to the rapid decline in game reviews I noticed many community members were much better at it than the main media sites and magazines so since I'm studying to be a writer I decided to put my grain of sand.

You'll probably notice a few mistakes in some of them, especially with the grammar but you have to know I'm from Latin America so writing in English is somewhat tricky for me.

Anyway, I don't think anybody should pay any attention to these reviews. It's sad because they're gonna scare a lot of people away from the game.

No probs, only giving credit where credit is due.

As for mainstream reviews, yeah i am pretty much the same. I tend to take the main media site reviews with a grain of salt. I will read them but nine times out of ten I won't let their opinion have a deciding factor on whether i purchase the game or not. I tend to stick to blogs such as yours or sites like http://www.fightersgeneration.com/main.htm.

I've always gone with reader reviews & or community member opinions from actual tournament players that know the ins & outs of a fighting game if i am unsure of a purchase myself.

But hey, that's just me ;)

Reviewers aren't shit these days, they need to get a competent person from the FGC to review fighting games specifically.

Still can't believe TTT2 got knocked because it had too much stuff in it, smdh at ign.
