I'm now really thinking about preordering the game. But it was aaaages ago when I last tried out a Streetfighter game... What kind of modes are to be found in the newer games? I rarely play online, so is the singleplayer stuff good/extensive? Is there something like a theater mode or like in DOA a watch mode where I can see the computer fight?

Wow the PS4 version costs 69.99€ the PC version just 49.99€. Why is there such a big difference? x__X

That first video is as basic as it gets IMO.
Maybe if you're an experienced Street Fighter player. Like, I don't understand why there are six buttons when the characters only have like two or three moves each and no strings whereas in DOA you have characters with 100+ strings. Where's that kind of info?

Ahh okay I see where you are coming from. I am going to probably butcher these explanations but here goes.

Think of it like this, instead of having to press P+K to get a hard punch you can press Fierce Punch(or HP) and instead of having to press 6P to get a medium punch with better range and damage you can press Strong(or MP) and Jab serves as your neutral P or whatnot. All in all you have about as many moves as a 2D character as a 3D character does. They are just accessed differently.

Strings don't really exist in the same way that they do in DOA/VF/Tekken. You have chains(easiest), Cancels and (hardest IMO)Links. There is no string delay in most 2D fighting games.

Chains are probably the closest thing that you have to 3D fighting game strings. You simply ascend through the correct strengths (i.e. LP>MP>HP) Most characters don't really have these and the chain is usually very specific.

Cancels are what you are going to be making most of your combos with in SF. This is simply "cancelling"(on hit usually) the recovery animation of your current attack with another one. Think of it as free cancelling on crack.

Links are the hardest IMO. With these you don't cancel the recovery animation in to another attack but rather you use the hitstun of your current attack to "link" the next attack into the combo. The timings are usually MUCH tighter than the first two but sometimes they are ass easy(This is one of the reasons SF4 Cammy was so devastating). Think of these as those guaranteed situations but with much tighter timing.

Someone is probably going to come in here and tell me how stupid I am but this is how I look at it. Hope this helps.

It all comes down to the fundamental difference between 2D and 3D fighters. The former are more about controlling space, while the latter are more about controlling time. The latter are more about learning frame data and using strings to pressure, frame trap and mix up. The former however are more about controlling angles and areas around the screen with pokes and specials.

Now Street Fighter, being the very genesis of the modern 2D fighting game emphasizes this the most. This is why you need those 6 buttons, since you will most likely be using them all at different points in the game.

However, the three basic strength levels can be broken down like this.
  • Lights
    • Used as quick "get off me" moves to create space
    • Fast hitconfirms
    • Are fast enough to be used to bait out other pokes that you can try to punish/counterpoke.
  • Mediums
    • Tend to control the most forward space of any normal attacks
    • Are usually the go to long range poking tools and combo starters (most especially true of crouching medium kick).
    • Tend to be safe only when spaced
  • Heavies
    • Deal the most damage of any normal
    • Are usually used counter normals, either for counter poking, punishing or as anti-airs
    • Knockdown normals are usually a characters crouching heavy kick or heavy punch
Now we also have to consider command normals, which are attacks done in combination with either a forward or backward input, which increases the number of normals at your immediate disposal.

Older Street Fighter's also had close proximity normals, normals that only came out when you were close to your opponent. SFV however changes most of these into command normals instead.

As for combos, you're not going to be relying on strings obviously. The closest thing the game has to them are target combos, which are strings that only come out on contact (either hit or block, but not whiff).

For the most part however, you're going to be relying on hit confirming of normals. These are usually done either through normals that chain into themselves (lights can chain at least once back into themselves), through two normals that link into each other even on block (blockstring), or through single hit confirms.

SFV in particular, like 3rd Strike before it, puts a heavy focus on single hit confirms. These are harder to do since they require fast reactions, but are very versatile, since you can get them off counter pokes and punishes. One key thing about these is that they're actually easier to do by link than by cancel. Linking with a single hit confirm means that you have more time to react and confirm the hit. Instead of having to cancel the hit immediately, you can input the move a bit later, since it naturally combos based on frame data alone. Street Fighter V's 2 frame buffer should greatly help in this regard.

Well there is nothing specific known about the In Game Modes right now. I really hope they bring back the Tournament Mode from SSf2 back .wich i think was awesome (ther you could see Computer Fights ,too.

I want to Preorder, too. But there is no Volcanic Edition in the Eu Market right now .............and I am thinking about to buy just the One Day Package and to play everything during playing the Game .

But its really hard for me to decide because i love all the DLC Preoder Costume Stuff :)

Lets take the air conditioning out of automobiles. It wont impact the way that the vehicle gets you to point A to B. Lets take out the stereo as well. Its totally unnecessary to the driver and sometimes works as a distraction(it actually does to me). See how stupid this line of argumentation is?

We all play games for different reasons and its not right to pass judgement on someone making a big deal of something you see as frivolous. Some of us play games to escape a shitty, violent or even pathetic life. I think its a real dick move to pass judgement on others for their preference.

Kinda agree. For me I'm in it for the characters. If there's a character I like I'll play even if I hate the gameplay, if there's no characters I like I won't play even if gameplay is good (its why I never got into street fighter aside from 3rd strike. Elena ALMOST got me to get 4)

Meanwhile the prudes get practically nothing. practicaly every female deseign seems to resolve around sex and beleive it or not, not everyone enjoys it. people are quick to say those gamers don't exsist but let's be honest how often has anyone even tried to appeal to them?

This is me. I picked up doa5 purely for Mila in her c2 because she was cute and badass.

All dlc post vanilla was strictly sexy/slutty, nothing like what drew me to her in the first place. Well like 4 of the near 40 dlc costumes which is a tiny percentage.

The last PS4 stress test has just about the complete menu interface with some locked out items.

Aside from Ranked and Casual online matches, Training, Capcom Fighters Network, Battle Settings and Options (the only things you could use), the other things that were there were local the Battle Lounge, Versus, Survival, Shop and Story Mode.

On a related note, the menu theme is pretty godlike.

Standing up against censorship is petty, right >_>

You cancelled the preorder because the game in general is not nearly pervy enough for you. It certainly seems to be all you care about, judging from what I've seen for a few years from you in the forums. You know, there are people who like to play their games with both hands on the controller...

To be fair...I'm probably gonna buy Street Fighter 5 on the PC because of it...after the mods come out.
I just don't like to support censorship over dumb crap like this. Either I can mod it back in or I'm not getting it or I just plain didn't know it was censored to begin with.

Just the principle for me.

EDIT: But even then, the Season Pass is turning me off from getting the game at launch if I could to begin with...

Or you could just earn the fight money to unlock the characters.

Depends on how hard you gotta work for said Fight Money to get the characters vs. The Season Pass.

yall would lose your minds if you saw everything that was cut from a game before launch.

I don't think you even remotely understand the difference but whatever, getting tired of arguing this anyway.

and as if my fucks for him couldn't be reduced any lower VirtuaKazama found a way.

honestly the only big thing that bothers me is that godawful super. i get he's supposed to be a weird joke type character, but so is Birdie and he has one of the best supers in the game if you finish with it.

Can someone edit out the "rise up" part of this topic title. I personally don't give one fuck about this game and I will stay down. Don't like the command and it just makes the title last drag on.

I'm also tired of guides getting some quote beforehand like it's going to engage me enough to click.
