I actually never tried the extra characters in SC4. I focused almost exclusively on Cass.
Here's how I feel about them:
*Scheherazade the elf was my favorite, loved her design and voice(Stephanie Sheh) and that she fought like Amy. Her personality was alot like Lili which I adored, very tsundere. I used her voice for my Cas.
*Kamikurimusi was awesome, loved her strong feisty personality and battle cries and how she was an Oni. Michelle Ruff did a great job voicing her. I used her voice for my Cas's evil clone, just lower pitched to mimic how Phase 4 has a lower voice.
*Angol Fear I liked for her design, the anime look was really cute and her lucifer spear weapon was cool.
*Ashlotte I loved only for her design and personality, she seemed like a really relatable and burdened character imo. Her choice of fighting style didn't suit her at all though, but her VA Megan Hollingshead did a good job giving her a detached emotionless air to her.
Ugh, I want them to return so bad, or at least their costumes. <_>

I like Angol Fear for her serious (imo) personality. I also like Ashlotte and Kamikimisuri (never will be able to spell it right) too, but I have no idea why. Shura's my favourite...
Edit: Another reason I liked Shura was because of that voice. Used it for most of my CAS lol.

Come to think of it, if these really are fakes, it's probably for the best. The pictures, if real, would've implied that SCVI takes place after SCV. I don't think they could do that without adding more fuel to the fire. I've been wanting for SCVI to take place after SCV, with Astral Chaos being used to take the series back there. It'd be the easiest way to bring back all the old characters, and it's already been hinted at. So if these truly aren't real, it's probably better than way despite how good the art looks.
They are taking their sweet time to announce the last finalist, who is obviously Taki.
But to be honest, I have given up the idea that they might announce SC6 with a battle of the two finalists on Gamescom. I have the feeling they want to keep on going with their fan activities for one more month and then announce something on TGS. There has to be something this year. They would be crazy if not, this being their 20th anniversary, long after the big character poll, after hinting at big news for months and after stepping up their their promo on social media from zero to 120.

I am really hoping for a "Tekken Tag"-esque game for SC6. Heck, that would give them a reason to use the extra characters.

Yeah, who knows what they'll do. It seems they're heading in the direction of mixing old with new, with the hints mentioned that shards of both swords were scattered throughout space and time, bringing fighters from both times together. I don't know how much they're going to take advantage of the plot device though, as I believe Hoshino's mainly going to use the old roster with some holdovers of the new. We'll see.

Maybe. I was surprised he beat Mitsurugi since he placed below him in the official poll by 94 votes. If only those Mitsurugi voters were there when the tournament was being held... but still, Taki will likely come out on top. 220 more votes in the poll will definitely be a factor here. Plus, you know...
