d3v has been trying to give DOA5 a lot of positive light on SRK but I don't believe that for one second that the majority of SRK feels differently about DOA than they did before and that those guys are open to new games.
There are a bunch of guys willing to give it a chance, but you're right, until the whole "holds out of stun" issue is resolved, DOA will always been seen in a negative light, not just in SRK but in other competitive FG sites as well.

Do you know how that ridiculous that sounds though, the "holds out of stun issue." It would completely change the flow of the game. They've already shortened the window, lessened the damage, and made the animations more obvious, I don't think there's anything else they could do short of turning it into a cheap VF clone. People get lucky occasionally in every game, but if you get countered in DOA5 I think most of the time you'll have yourself to blame for not grabbing or delaying more.

Aside from that, you can't expect someone who invested 10+ years in SF to switch to DOA no matter what they changed. I only play SC and other fighters casually and that'll never change because I don't want to learn all those moves and nuances. One game is enough for the average person I think

Synce. Those changes are nice and all, but what 89% of this Community want is "no hold out of stun". If Team Ninja wants to revitalize DOA and possibly branch it out to a wider audience, then they should please their Core Fans above all..."US"...

As much as some of the negativity may seem towards DOA, we all obviously love the Series but some of us "just" want a new DOA, while most of us want a "Tournament" viable DOA.

Apparently you haven't been around reading the (at least 3) threads on here that goes into extreme detail on this issue. It has been explained too many times on how to properly deal with it along with other things to keep the precious "flow" of the game. I suggest you read some of them in your spare time.

This is one of the threads you can look into, synce, if you haven't already: http://freestepdodge.com/threads/3-point-hold-v-4-point-hold.686/

89% ? really ?
id like to see those figures

all the people that wanted holds in stun still wanted it to be a tournament viable game ..

not to beat on a dead horse or anything .. but .. we've established already that .. tournament viable and holds in stun are not the same ...

Just put a meter on the holds already.

The more I think about it the more it just seems like the best option at this point. Frankly its already on something of an invisible meter, just make it visable and do all of the things people want done to the stun system - lower the damage, lower the window, extend the recovery (Except no holds out of stun, keep that.).

Being attacked builds it back up, slow escape stick movement outside of stun builds it up.

Some people must (still) think I'm part of the other 13%.

Well, fuck what they think. Just to confirm, I'm with the majority regardless. But even if it doesn't happen, I won't be butthurt about it either.

Talking percentages, I think we can put a high number on there not being a meter for holds... that's a drastic rewrite on how its done and our requests can be solved without doing that.

Also, what Awesmic said.

Taking holds out of stun does not automatically mean DOA5 will be more widely accepted in the competitive scene. However, it would make people immediately think about giving it a chance.

On the flip side, if you do not remove holds from stun, you'll have to explain exactly what has been done to get around the rampant use of counterholds in order to get a bulk of the competitive community to really give it a shot.

No matter what, if holds are the primary form of defense and allow you to "escape" a majority of the time, DOA5 will not be competitive. There's no wiggle room there. It's a fact that the game will have a very short tournament life if this problem is not addressed to a satisfactory manner.

If you want a game with holds in stun, you have DOA2 (all versions), DOA3, DOA4 and DOAD to keep you company.

Well as it stands now TN isn't going to take out Holds in Stun so we'll have another one of those DOA on our hands so at this point I'm like fuck it. At least we'll be getting something better than DOA4...which may not be saying much to a lot of you, but no use me bitching over what we don't have and be glad of what we'll have, and that's a better DOA than it's predecessor.

We gave opinion after opinion and repeat the same shit we've wanted in DOA to make it Tournament viable and or respected by other fighting game Communities so all we can do now is continue argue/debate about points that's been made countless times since DOA Central and before.

E3 is right around the corner...so time will tell the current condition of DOA5...

Unless TN plans on setting up loketests, E3 is probably our only chance, our ray of hope I guess you could say. We'll see what happens once it comes around. Right now I really see no point in discussing all of this any further, it's exhausting isn't it? We don't know much about its current state but hopefully we can steer it in the right direction when the time comes. Oh and of course you can tweet the shit out of them. But until then, have a Coke and a smile and STFU, lol =P

And yes it's exhausting repeating that same shit over and over and over to no positive end...

That's what I said at the end of my statement...

"Time will tell"...aka..."E3"...

お待たせしました。今週、新たにDEAD OR ALIVE 5のキャラ&プレイ動画公開を予定しています!人間大砲!?
This just says "Thanks for waiting. We'll be releasing a new Dead or Alive 5 gameplay video with a new character(s) this week! Human cannon?!"

They're obviously hinting at the circus stage known as "The Show."

What day have TN usually released videos? And they really need to drop the lips-sealed policy. The game is dropping in four months give or take, I want info!

They have always been like that for as long as I can remember, not saying too much of anything. It annoys the hell outta me too. Luckily The London MCM Expo and E3 are coming up soon. That's when we will get the info.
