Hope you don't mind if I've been sharing these types of details on NeoGAF. In fact, pulling one of Rikuto's choice quotes on SRK has been very beneficial.

Links to their comments would be nice, just to see what other people are talking about.

It's too bad we won't be getting Kasumi and Akira as well with the demo of the Alpha build, even though they are still in the Alpha phase of development.

I see they're treating Akira like Jesus, so I won't be surprised if he's top tier.

Who's treating him like a God? Akira has always been a tough, hard-hitting fighter. If he turns out to be really good then good. But I wouldn't want him to be top tier. I hope the game will be balanced well for all the fighters so we can see the usual low tier characters compete with the top ones.

I still think people are getting too anticipatory about the demo. It's not the TGS build and never was. It's basically the SF event build and still several months old. Play it to enjoy DOA, but don't bother picking it apart other than to note things to look out for in the E3 build.

I won't start forming an opinion about DOA5 until I play the E3 build. However, with the announcement of Akira, I fully expect Helena to play like Lei-Fei (VF5 ver. C).

As a side note, I just finished the NG3 guide. There's an interview in it that has a couple DOA-related questions.

Being quite honest, you see how they told us that the DOA5 demo will consist of 4 characters but yet today we seen not only the lovely Kasumi, but the hard hitting Akira from VF5, so that tells us DOA5 is deeper into Development than we know, or at least from what I feel.

Also, think of this...Akira isn't a actual DOA character and from what we know, the guest characters are normally some of the last to get completed and here we see Akira meaning that most to all the original cast is pretty much on the same level of completion as him...plus former employee Itagaki talked about DOA5 in pre-thinking stage and he'd like to see a VF crossover of some sort and looking at today shows me they are further along into Development and is holding a decent amount of characters back which we should be getting a glance at later this month hopefully...so September sounds about reasonable.

No offense, but you don't know much about game development. Just because they don't show characters, does not mean they aren't in a presentable form. Creating a model and animating that model happen near the beginning of development. It's finalizing the movelist, determining each move property and all of that which happens later in development.

The fact that we're seeing Kasumi and Akira now doesn't mean anything in terms of development cycles. It just means that they've been working on the game... which we already know.

And don't get me started with the SF's move list layout compared to Tekken's layout...those games couldn't be more different but yet they meshed together damn well...so it's safe to say DOA n VF will mesh together much more tightly..

Not really. Any Tekken player who didn't like SF before SFxT won't suddenly like SF now. SFxT still plays like a SF game, and nothing like a Tekken game.

He has not played any version of the game, but is just basing his findings off of the OXM video and recent trailer. Is the Akira trailer the "GDC build of the game"?

Yeah, just someone making a mistake on another forum.

Personally, I'd be surprised if TN have anything to say on GDC. I would've gone this year if it wasn't really pricey and I'm busy anyway.

Is the game even at GDC? I was under the impression it's not.

明日発売の週刊ファミ通で、今回のDEAD OR ALIVE 5での『彼』の参戦についての経緯を簡単ではありますが、語っています。
"In tomorrow's Weekly Famitsu, there's a straightforward article about "his" participation and the circumstances leading up to Dead or Alive 5."

バーチャファイターとDEAD OR ALIVE の関係については、また日を改めて詳しくお話ししようと思っています。
Someday we'd also like to go into detail on the relationship between Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter.

Guess they weren't joking.

The big news in crossover fighting earlier this week was that Virtua Fighter 5's Akira would be appearing as a playable character in Dead or Alive 5. He may not be alone.

In Famitsu this week, Team Ninja master Yousuke Hayashi reveals that it was he who asked Sega to let Team Ninja include Akira in the game. "Ask" may not be the right word -- something closer to attacking Sega in order to get approval would be more accurate.

Hayashi says that, because they're going to all the trouble of holding this collaboration, Akira probably won't be the only character. It's unclear if he means we'll get more Virtua Fighter characters, or if he's referring to other franchises.
Wondering how Akira will play in the Dead or Alive universe? Hayashi says that the character's commands are basically unchanged from VF.
