I have absolutely nothing against Ein (in fact he is the most used male character for me after Eliot and Jann), and if it came across like I did then I apologize @Zeo and @Kronin that wasn't the point I was trying to make and he was just an example. I'm just tired of the "He wouldn't sell well. Get over it and be glad you have something" as if it's wrong for us to be upset that we didn't get Tengu.

No, no you misunderstood me, I never thought that you was attacking Ein, live easy ;)

I expressed my preference for him just for showing to you that I'm a fan of the same category of @Zeo (so someone that has an interest for a character originally absent in DoA5 that wasn't Tengu) and of who like Bankotsubo, but even so I find a truth in what he posted.

Personally I'm not saying that "if Tengu wouldn't sell well, who like him has simple to be glad that he has something", on the opposite is right to manifest a dislike for the choice done by TN if you wanted something different (like me).

But at the same time I can't say to not understand the reasons behind what TN (or better TK according to what Emperor Cow said) is doing. They thought the the character would have been an economical failure and it's perfectly possible that maybe they are wrong, maybe they didn't believe enough in the popularity that a balanced character with an original appearence could get in the game even if not being a subject of the female fanservice: I really dislike to not get Bankotsubo (and you can believe me, otherwise all my requests wouldn't make sense) but with this I don't think that to include another Tengu character is an act without logical reasons from the company behind the game.

Even if I know myself and already can say that the new character will grow in me, I'm extremely sad because I was extremely sure that Bankotsubou would have been added to DoA5U. Now I feel sincerely guilty for having given hopes to other people as @Forlorn Penguin... :(

cmon zeo you know damn well you were in the same boat as tengu players are now back in vanilla when Ein was cut, as was I with Leon,.it just looks hypocritical to change your views against people who want tengu back now that your character returned. using popularity as an excuse is simply idiotic since more than half the characters on the roster are unpopular and rare to see; even other female characters like Mila, lisa, and tina are hardly played.

These same dumbass arguments were used against Leon's returned "just use Bayman or Mila dey are more popular and da saem newayz!" a female tengu with similar moveset doesn't fix shit other than pandering to the TnA obsessed nitwits who flock to whatever piece of ass they can fap to. so telling tengu players to deal with it and suck it up now after you were whining and complaining about Ein not being in vanilla for months just looks bad on your part.

I guess this will be my swan song but, I need to call bull where I see it and no one will be misrepresenting me and you just did that in a huge way.

1 - My views have not changed. I've said time and time again I don't agree with TK's method of business and using TnA to sell, if I didn't have faith in this game as a fighter I would not be here. I had the same pessimistic (but realisitic) mindset when Ein wasn't present in the game. Did I still want my character? Of course but it didn't change the fact that it was unlikely as he wasn't a character that appeals to the largest fanbase, I was vocal but I still knew the same truth I know and speak now.

The ONLY difference between now and then is that Ein was a more likely character to be added because he actually is more popular, and if he didn't blow chunks competitively then a lot more people would use him than the few you see because he actually does have a lot more people who like him.

2 - People may not use half the cast and characters like Mila don't have the most players, but people are still buying those Bikinis and outfits for her because she's a "hot" female and they eat it up like candy, and that's where the money is, it's relevant no matter how you want to spin the popularity card. Cash cow > character usage. Doesn't matter where the popularity comes from, if it's there it's valid.

So no I don't appreciate being misrepresented with my "whining" (which you were also doing btw if I was doing that) when everything I've said up to this point has been valid and true and not biased nor hypocritical in any fashion.

Do I think that a female Tengu is something of a spit in the face of Tengu players? Yes. Do I think it bandages the issue instead of solving it? Yes of course. However.

Is TK a business? Yes. Would Tengu be a lot of work? Yes. Is he popular, would he sell like hotcakes or even the next Bikini DLC? Heck no. They could potentially lose money even. And as much as you may like the character it doesn't change that fact.

It's fine to voice your opinion and desire, it's fine to complain about the way things are because they may actually be legit messed up but at the end of the day it's what it is all the same. In the end even if it's not everything you wanted, if the female Tengu has the playstyle you know and loved even if it's not the face and model, you will play her because at least, at LEAST you have the playstyle that you wanted even if it's not the character itself.

That's what you should be grateful for, and I stand by that statement.

I guess when people want something so bad they're blinded to any truth that goes against that desire, in the end it doesn't really matter what I say, I'm crucified if it's not pro Tengu. It was a mistake trying to make anyone understand or adhere to the ugly truth of 5U's primary business strategy.

TL:DR: It doesn't matter what I say or how I say it, if it's not "TENGU HAS TO GET IN" I'm a hypocrite and devils advocate especially considering I wanted Ein when he wasn't in because it's the exact same situation obviously. Oh and I'm pro TK and am totally for everything they've done so far (especially butchering my favorite character and making him one of the worst chars in this game) I apologize for the disturbance. This female Tengu totally sucks and is a disgrace to Tengu-dom and I should not have said anything different.

Phew, that's a relief! For a minute I thought we were going to have to take you out behind the shed!

Joking aside, my take on this topic is that the moveset is the most important thing to bring over to DOA5. I am greatly worried that a human in a mask will not retain the entirety of Tengu's original moveset considering the various inhuman moves. That remains to be seen though and I'm not going to take off points from TN until there is more info. However, I'd be a hypocrite if I said the moveset is the only factor in choosing a character and even though I wanted to sub Tengu, I doubt I'll sub the new character, even if the moveset is identical, especially if Tengu's arrogance and menacing presence is missing.

Off topic, but all this has made me realize how much I miss Soulcalibur's Hwang. He had the personality of a rock, but he was my rock dammit! ;_; Good thing I still have Yunseong. Oh wait.

Well obviously the "thing" has a true side step that even crouch evades throws, an 8i jab, 4i OH that launches on hi-counter into ceilings guaranteeing 230 damage, and a 2i throw that though breakable does 190 damage.

Or maybe you all didn't get that from the two screen shots? It was rather obvious to me.

I was thinking about how they would tweak Tengu's move set to make it more viable and the move set animations to fit a girl, possibly drawing further inspiration from kabuki theatures just from more traditionally female roles maybe. Or we could just continue to sit here insulting my intelligence that's fine too.

Well insults are indeed fun to throw at each other, I must confess that based on the screenshots the lower area of the mask does look like a female face.

Could be wrong. Could be right, and the costume belongs to Ayane and simply heralds the return of Bankosubo?

Who the hell knows? That's the problem with speculation. I could draw a million different conclusions from that screenshot and they are all very likely to be wrong.

Better to just wait it out and see whats up.

Zeo's post was all wrong (as in 100% "all") and I could break it down with quote dissections piece-by-piece as I normally do, but honestly, I don't see the point. The bourgeoisie has never been particularly empathetic to the proletariat, and that analogy / dichotomy carries into most social structures. I could respond intellectually or like a raving madman and it wouldn't make a darn bit of difference. I don't see anyone here gravitating away from their initial position/bias. Those who held Tengu dear to them are hurt by this, and those who were apathetic don't care. I'm not going to waste my precious time beating a dead horse.

Now, I'm not some instigator of a lynch mob and I want there to be no confusion on this. I'm not trying to demonize Team Ninja based on two highly misleading and disappointing screenshots. There's still a small chance that Tengu could be put into the game. It wouldn't make any of this situation fair, in my opinion. Teasing out Tengu the numerous times they have only to dump this crap on us is not cool at all, whether that be from a marketing, PR, or charity perspective. However, I realize there are some difficulties in plopping him in there (though not many, to be perfectly honest). I think at this point Tengu fans would be happy if he made it into the game at all. And by that I obviously mean Bankotsubo. Not whatever nonsense is going on here.

So yes, I am a little worked up, and I'm sorry if my words are coming off harsh. But, that should be understandable given what I and the other Tengu fans have been putting up with all this time. Team Ninja may have "have the right" to tantalize us like this, but I also have the right not to like it, and they shouldn't take my patronage for granted.

If they are going to release a new character they are going to tease it on twitter. That's just advertisement. It's nothing to get worked up about, especially since it wasn't even done in English. It's not like they were attempting to troll the west.

And the Japanese fanbase probably isn't giving them super negative feedback over the prospect of a female tengu, either.
