As the recent Street Fighter V beta is also open to the PC there has been some serious data mining going on. Now we do know how many polygons and bones some of the character models are made of. :D So, for everyone who is interested:

Rashid:
77.900 polygons and 383 bones

image_street_fighter_v-29624-3120_0003.jpg

image_street_fighter_v-29624-3120_0011.jpg

Nash:
114.300 polygons and 397 bones:

image_street_fighter_v-27627-3120_0004.jpg

The data also leaked some upcoming characters. Among them Urien:
82.400 polygons and 332 bones.

(this is not an official render!)

As a comparison, Ryu of Street Fighter VI featured about 16.000 polygons (which is suprisingly low):

So the new character models have about 6 times the polygon count. Wow, that's an improvement... Their finger tips are still pretty angular though. ;D
Does the total number of bones also have to do with the hair and moving cloth?

Got some pictures of dragon age inquisition finally, here they are. The file sizes are pretty huge so I put them in an imgur album you'll have to click and look through because if I put them all here It'd be about 30mb and I'm not gonna do that to everyone lol. I'll post a few though, make sure to click for full size. Link first: http://imgur.com/a/EiB4O

These have the lowest file sizes. Faces in this game look really good imo but the scarf it sticks on you during customization looks like shit as you can see

^I like the qunari a lot  they're very tall

Lighting and colors are really good

Those faces are very well detailed...they're realistic without invoking any uncanny valley, and I don't get cringey staring at them or anything.(The first one is my favorite, followed by the second and third one in case you wanted to know) The environments also look lush and the colors are really warm and comforting.

DA Inquisition is a really great looking game. And it's even a cross generation game, so it doesn't nearly exhaust the graphical possibilities of PS4 and Xbone. Shows how great art design can greatly elevate the look of a game. The reason the faces do successfully avoid the uncanney valley effect is that they are still slightly stylized and not going for a completely realistic look.
An interesting concept art that I found about the game's character design:

Might interest @Kodachi as well. :)

Almost all the textures in this game are really good, didn't get any close up pictures yesterday. Might try to later today.

One aspect it falls short in are the cutscenes. The frame rate drops to what looks like below 20fps at times during cutscenes and the animations can get jumpy and awkward. Heights also change all the time if you're a dwarf or qunari. Sometimes my qunari seems to sink into the floor to be as tall as another character like the episode of spongebob where he slammed his feet into the floor to hide his shoes. Also my dwarf I started yesterday levitates sometimes to match heights with other characters. It always happens when you can't see their legs and sometimes they go to their actual heights suddenly as you're looking at them. Lots of minor glitches but a lot are funny

Today on Paris Game Week Quantic Dreams announced their new game "Detroit" based on this old tech demo for the PS3:

Here the new "Detroit" trailer, rendered completely in in-game graphics:

After Quantic Dreams' Beyond: Two Souls was arguably the best looking game of the last console generation, this game has good chances be the same for this console generation.

Last but not least some screenshots:

certainly looks pretty, though i think its more on par with Ground Zeros than blowing anything out of the water. i hope the gameplay is good as i heard the last one wasn't very well received, i certainly hope so as that demo brought tears to me eyes for a sec there.

so im pretty pumped for the tekken 7 VR announcement, but im a bit worried will switching it to VR and having that super massive view mess with the the picture quality like when you fullscreen a video?.

Ground Zeroes as in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? That is a cross generation game and game models just as the surroundings are still on PS3 level. Hardly comparable with a true PS4 game. :/ Did you look a little closer at the MGSVGZ models? They are pretty blocky and the hair is made of pixelated bitmaps.

That Detroid game caught my interest. Beyond Two Souls was an amazing experience.
I'm impressed by the faces. However, I'm not very excited about the "robot" theme. This is so boring. Reminds me of I.A. Artificial Intelligence... ZZZzzzz.

Is the main chick based on a real life actress ?

PS : I thought everyone agreed on the fact that the best-looking PS3 game was The Last of Us. Beyond was amazing, but some models and textures were unfinished and laggy. For instance, many objects and characters were appearing on screen, and there was always some time before the details fully emerged.

Character design comparison of all recent Final Fantasy main titles (X, XII, XIII, XV):

FFX:

FFXII:

FFXIII:

FFXV:

My favorites are XII (minus some) and suprisingly XIII. X is too all over the place for me and XV is a little dull and boring... teaming up exclusively with the designer brand Roen was not a good idea imho. :/

My fave XIII characters aesthetically are Fang, LR Snow, Caius, XIII Serah and XIII Lightning I'm so glad Square/TN chose XIII Lightning again for her in Dissidia.

LR Light was too ridiculous although Beautiful Butler and Dark Knight in LR were great, she also was more aesthetically
pleasing in that game and looked like her CG/Prerendered cutscenes which she didn't in XIII/XIII 2.

The CG scenes were beautiful and now SE has an ingame engine that can recreate these I cant help but have an incredibly unrealistic dream of an LR remake or even HDmake ;~;

For keeping itself alive, every franchises need from time to time to renew them with a style more close to the contemporary times (aka the contemporary potential audience for their titles) and at the same time bringing a fresh air of news: despite the controversies that every time these matters bring to the old fanbase, without them a loyalty on the old formula could be payed with a possible premature end. In my opinion more a work is aged, more likely it's the possibility that it gone through "drastic changes" during its lifetime: designs for videogames (and consequent change of tone to the characters/plot accompanied with them) are no exception.
