I remember Itagaki's FB post about CC being a rogue-like but I totally forgot about PP. Man I can't believe we used to get yearly DOA games back then.

Code Chronus did indeed start development on the original Xbox.

I don't know how far along it got but DOA2U has leftover references: several unused character IDs plus skeletons.




  • 0x16 = "COAYANE" = Kid Ayane
  • 0x1a = "AYAME" = Ayame (Kasumi and Ayane's mother)
  • 0x19 = "COHAYATE" = Kid Hayate
  • 0x1b = "HADAKASUMI" = Naked (adult) Kasumi
  • 0x1c = "COKASUMI" = Kid Kasumi

I suspect the opening CGI cinematic from 2U was intended for Code Chronus. There's no reason to add slots and skeletons for characters who only appear in a prerendered CGI movie, so the embedded data is likely leftover from Chronus.

0x16 Kid Ayane and 0x19 Kid Hayate both reuse 2U's 0x12 Kid Tina's skeleton data.

0x1c Kid Kasumi's skeleton data was wiped while 0x1b Naked Kasumi reuses 0x05 Kasumi's skeleton.

0x1a Ayame (Kasumi and Ayane's birth mother) was the same size as 0x1 Tina.



Forcing the character IDs gets you the skeleton with a default character model.
