All hope may not be lost especially since this DLC is coming out to 5U first rather than the arcade. We had that sh*tty training uniform DLC that came out to DOA5U and then news for Nyo came out about a week and a half later. They may be saving the angel DLC for the arcade version with the new character.

Yes. @Kronin even has the tweet where TN confirmed that there were at least 2 more characters after Phase 4 (in addition to the tweets I have posted many times on this site).

Regardless of what their previous tweets said, if you all remember those translations from that stream a few weeks back, they didn't seem 100% confidant there would even be another character. They said lots of maybe's and if's (which is also where we learned that if there is another, they would probably be a VF or DW guest). I'm not suggesting they'll decide not to do another character, but if they weren't even sure what they were going to do for the next character just 2 or 3 weeks ago, It's possible we may not hear anything on the character front for quite awhile.
Even if they waited until Nyotengu was out to start teasing the next fighter, barely a month-and-a-half doesn't seem like a realistic timeline to go from "We don't know" to "Let's do this character" to Planning to Modeling to actually having the character running in-game to take teaser screenshots.
I don't mean to be a downer and burst any bubbles, but these are my thoughts on the matter.

Fun fact, "かも" (kamo) means either "might" or "duck". With where it is in the sentence, It's probably not duck. lol

Although are you sure they were truthfully unsure as to who the next character was or just purposely being vague so that they wouldn't give anything away until it was time to reveal him/her?

I learned to respect the fans...but past imagining WHAT Bankotsubo could do with his "otherworldly power"(Because let's face it, Ryu Hayabusa is fucking GOD(No, I don't mean a god, YHWH, Allah, Krishna, Ryu Hayabusa is virtually God with Jesus Christ metaphors), he'll be known more for his catchphrase than people literally knowing his actual name(or remembering it).

I dunno if they were just being vague. I didn't watch the stream either, @EMPEROR_COW did and relayed the details.
Dang, it's already been 75 pages since then. Anyways, I found the post... somehow.
OK so I was watching the JP stream and the guys were talking about the possibility of getting another Character in the game ... and if that was the case, it would most likely be a guest.
They mentioned that it might be from Dynasty Warriors since TK has been pressuring some sort of merge for a long time. That, or another VF to generate more arcade play (I hope).
Then they were like it might also all be false because it would end up becoming a balancing nightmare. They were saying that every time a new character gets included everything ends up having to be rethought and revised... So, we might not get anyone after all.
It seems TN has no intention of bringing back boss characters, which is unfortunate since I was really hoping for Raidou.
It was an interesting conversation .. I thought I'd share ..

Thanks Whisper I remember that although I guess it was too vague for me to understand if TN was really saying all of those things or if some personal opinions were being added. Regardless, the official statement from TN still stands with their being a 4th character. Maybe he/she isn't coming for a while but TN has not said that there won't be another so I still have some hope left. :/
