IMO, Christie can really wear anything and still looks great!

Who do you think I am?!
:jannlee:

Anyways, I am loving all of the Casual DLC (well, more like 90-something % of it), so yeah.

Akira: 6.5/10. My least favorite, but he hasn't gotten a great costume since his red coat. Still looks nice in a fight.
Ayane: 9.5/10. Makes no sense in a casual collection, but it's beautiful in action. Plus, no purple or butterflies anywhere. Despite this, it's my choice for 'Best Female Costume of Vol. 1'.
Bayman: 11/10. Ho. Lee. Carp. Bayman's is... I'm stunned. It fits him, breaks from his usual duds, looks terrifically badass, and fits with the casual theme far better than many of the better costumes in the set. My pick for 'Best Male Costume of Vol. 2' and current candidate for 'Best Costume of the Set'.
Brad: 8/10. Best 'casual wear' of the packs so far, and helps add a little color to Brad's rather bland palatte, but it lacks the same synergy as Eliot's, Gen Fu's, or Momiji's. If he had sunglasses, an easy 9/10.
Christie: 7.5/10: She looks beautiful in it, and it flows well, but it really doesn't suit her character. It lacks the 'badass' factor.
Ein: 7/10. Nice working man's gear like Hayate (fitting), but they went and zipped it down. Way to go, TN.
Eliot: 9.5/10. Really awesome design, but it doesn't really do anything that his C2 didn't. My pick for 'Best Male Costume of Vol. 1'.
Gen Fu: 10/10. A perfect fit.
Hayate: 7/10. A plain-ish design, but it's different from his other costumes and flows well in a fight.
Hitomi: 9/10. Matches her tomboyish appearance, looks great, and flows well in a fight, but doesn't fit the 'casual' part.
Jacky: 8/10. Looks good, but it's too much like his C1/C4 jacket/trousers combinations.
Kasumi: 8.5/10. Looks great, breaks her mold, and yet still holds that spark of innocence that a lot of Kasumi's costumes have.
Kokoro: 7/10. I like it, but she has better.
Lisa: 7/10. Pretty, flows well, but not something anyone would expect her to wear. Ever.
Mila: 9/10. Looks beautiful, but she should be wearing more than just the jacket over her tights. That said, it doesn't suit her fighting style at all.
Momiji: 10/10. Simple but fitting. Only costume that her glasses look proper on. Would be a scale-breaker if she had a hair-down option.
Pai: 7.5/10. Passable as casual wear, but it pales before some of her previous costumes.
Rachel: 10/10. Looks great, doesn't feel out of place on Rachel or in a fight, and still gives her a nice feminine tone that none of her other costumes do... in other words, it's not fetish wear. My pick for 'Best Female Costume of Vol. 2'.
Rig: 8/10. I don't think anyone was expecting this. Given Rig's enigmatic status in the story, it's hard to decide if it suits him or not, but it's casual as all hell. Man, it would have been hilarious if he'd kicked Jann Lee's ass in this costume instead of his C1.
Sarah: 7/10. Same argument as Pai, but a worse costume.

So general consensus seems to be as I called it:

Costumes are pretty as hell, but (for the most part) don't suit/fit the characters AT ALL.

I honestly don't get some of you guys ...
They give you old costumes from previous games .. you say we want new stuff ...
They give you new original - non recycled content .. you complain that you want the old costumes back ..

I think the costumes look great and a lot of thought went into making them ...

it also shows the diversity of tastes in each character ... maybe you like Mila but wanted something a little more feminine... well there you go! ... or for once an Ayane that isn't damn purple...

Why can't we just have good costumes that fit the characters instead of bad costumes that fit, or good costumes that don't fit? That's the issue here: The costumes seem dartboard random.

The costumes look great, but there was obviously NO thought put into making them. Otherwise Ayane wouldn't be steampunk, Mila wouldn't be Hitomi, Helena wouldn't be Christie, Christie wouldn't be Helena, and Lisa wouldn't be pregnant.

Way to go, indeed

Ein is like the playgirl pin up boy of DOA. I'm guessing he'll get something even smaller than Jann's speedo if they ever give him a fighter pack 'outfit'

That's ninja wear meant to fit in Ninja Gaiden matching Ryu's legendary black falcon and Ayane's new Ninja Gaiden C1. Totally different. Imagine a biker wearing Ryu's C1 because it also appears to be made of a leather material. ... @David Gregg make it happen!

Well, seeing a biker in this costume would look very strange, that's right.
However, I don't think that it was introduced 'just' to fit in Ninja Gaiden. Regarding to the last part of the story in DOA5, it would not have made such an impressive look if she had entered the lab in her blue kimono or her summer dress for example.

Therefore, they gave her a black, cool-looking ninja suit to make her more serious or mature, and now they applied that leather jacket with surely the same intention like Tenryuga mentioned before.

Of course, this is my own opinion and I would not presume to convince you to the contrary because this it all a matter of taste.:)

Well, it's also because it's heavily implied that Kasumi is now staying in Hayabusa Village or atleast near Hayabusa Village. And black leather battle garbs is pretty much the signiture of his clan, but saying that hayate and Ayane also wear black leather so it's more than likely that they just want to update the Ninjas costumes to be more modern.

More like "Want to update the ninjas costumes to be more bland."

The whole "costumes has to fit the character" is all open to individual interpretation.

Some outfits might fit the character just from the physical appearance alone and some might fit the character symbolically. Then... there are some costumes that are outright terrible even if they do "fit" the character.

Not really. A biker jacket has no place on kasumi, not with her personality, her appearance, or even symbolically. Same goes for most of the costumes.

One can make the argument that the black biker jacket on top of the light 'innocent' looking dress is a symbolic representation of how Kasumi has a balance of a light aura innocence on the surface and a more subtle layer of dark deadliness (The first DoA game perfectly shows this).

The point is the outfits are all open to personal interpretation to how well they "fit" or not.

You know what, I'm kind of digging the jacket. I just noticed it has the Mugen Tenshin clan symbol on the back of it (kind of hard to see in this picture: )

Take a close look at the detail that went into Kasumi and Ayane's NG ones, they're not bland. Hayate's C1 has so many small details too.

All I really see is "trying to cash in on Ninja Gaiden by dressing the other ninjas up like Ryu."

Kasumi and Ayane were in Razor's Edge and Ayane has been in that series for a while. Hayate's new outfit in 5U does look like a ripoff of Ryu's C1, but whatever. Not quite sure what they're 'cashing in on' with a few costumes that aren't even dlc. If someone bought the whole game for those outfits alone, I'd be worried about their mental state.

I really really wish they would have put Kasumi's awesome blue capescarfhood on the outfit in DOA. It would have made the outfit truly perfect imo. It's gorgeous. I understand if it was taken out for graphic limits though.
