With the help of google translate, the page said you now h ave the option to select which hair option, glasses, undergarments???, & sidestep you want right from the character select screen. Which.. is a bit better in my ugly opinion.
It's a really practical option even in my opinion, that give you the possibility to change hairs, glasses, inner (change to the vestiary, from the underwear to include remove a piece of the cloth) and sidesteps.
However there is another useful change,

It's impossible that this option will be included in the game, the DLC outfits are included in pack outfits. However in the end this is already available in DoA5U where you can unlock the outfits in disc playing online just like offline (more, I'm a fan of the old system where you had to play for unlocking characters and elements of a fighing game, so in my opinion would be a very nice system)
By the way, from what I understand the outfits have different degree of rarity: so when you play you will have more chances to get puzzle pieces for certain outfits, rather than other (a way to make play more the Japanese people XD, but also this one seems to me a really nice idea).
