The image depicts the mask-wearer has a grayish-purple hair color. I might think of Raidou underneath but then again, the old canon which had him in that hair color doesn't count as the story follows the Dimensions canon (where Raidou has white hair).

Yeah...not gonna be that guy with the obnoxious "I told you so" attitude, but saw this plausible scenario coming a mile away so put away the party favors for now. Hopefully we can establish now (we haven't already?) that TN tweets should be taken with a grain of salt if they are nothing more then vague statement with no legitimate evidence backing said claims.

In any case at least this will spark some actual new DoA discussion. I'm leaning more on the screenshot being a character then a new costume. TN wouldn't be all cryptic for a single costume unless it belongs in a bundle and they would be teasing those one by one which remains to be seen so far.

It's hard to react because of the lack of information, but, dear Team Ninja, that's so many females and "clones". What I like about DOA is the diversity in the casting, a nice balance between males and females, ninjas and "classic fighters". I know it sells better, but still...

If Tengu is back as "Female Tengu" indeed, at least give her a new haircut, like very long flowy purple hair. The same should have happened to Phase 4, she should have had a new haircut (Kasumi's missing ponytail from DOA4/DOAD). Here, they just look lazy.

I can't wait to see what this picture on twitter means... I'm "excited" but I feel like I'm gonna be disappointed. Realistically, Female Tengu would sell 5 times better than Tengu itself. We shall see!

It would feel too soon if TN decided to create the contest entries into costumes (I doubt that all the winners they contacted received their prizes yet) but I do know one Ayane entry that is at least Tengu-themed.

I just noticed that the Tengu mask from TN's tweet is a half-mask. Judging by the lips, it's safe to assume it is a female or at the very least, a guy that might be as pale and baby-faced as Eliot since every other guy aside from him and Jacky (at some extent) has a very tan complexion.

EDIT: The bangs on the left side of the image looks synonymous to Ranmaru Mori from Samurai Warriors/Warriors Orochi.

All this speculation and worry over whether its Tengu, a clone, a female Tengu etc. That's why its best to not get over hyped in case its not what you expected. Although it may be hard for those of you who waited for Tengu for a year (?), or for those that don't want Tengu at all, just try to wait patiently until TN releases more info ^_^

It's a little different in this case, because Tengu's theme is related to the deception (we fans brought back it XD)... so really, in both the cases of the return of Bankotsubo or less, made perfectly sense to use such posts from TN.
Of course I know that the outcome could be the one that many of us weren't hoping for...

Who honestly knows anymore, one thing is for sure though, i cannot remember a single fighting game such as DoA5U pumping out as much info & speculation as this. In a nutshell, this is pretty damn fascinating stuff.

Indipendently by everything, I fully agree with you. Never thought that a less popular character as Tengu could be able to do it inside the community, in itself is a great feat.

I've put a lot of dedication into this game and the community. Nobody is more dedicated than me. But like I said, I'd rather Team Ninja give us new characters first instead of giving us old characters we've already played with.

So dedicated to this game to abandon it if return a character that you dislike, and so dedicated to this community to not care if people wish for him (with some of them being the same people that asked in lesser measure even for your favourite Raidou...).

Did you ever stop to think about people answering to your comments trying to make change you idea about the game and to overlook this eventual disliked thing, while in the same circumstance you answered in the past "If you like Tengu you can always return to play DoA2 and DoA4"? Honestly I didn't see anyone say you to return to play DoA1 if you like Raidou or DoA3 if you don't want play against Tengu....

Apperantly reading books doesn't help to your intellegence. I don't play this game with super rank I am not combo expert I don't beat everybody just want see logical game characters we can't fight with your nostalgic X box character forever go get some help.
