Guilty Gear Xrd looks amazing though, and KOF XII/XIII and Blazblue just use 3D models that are drawn over.

Doesnt ggx use cel shaded models to look 2d anyway?
Bb and kof are still using sprites for actual animations so its not as bad.
Its not about the quality of the costumes..
The games graphics play a major role in dictating how they look.. so theres no contest there.
Its about how:
1) everyone got a costume.
2) every costume is actually different... Not a bunch of copy paste pajamas and towels ..

I hope one of the designers from TN is reading this and realize that we're tired of being disappointed with these copy paste garbage, But unfortunately they're going to keep releasing them.
It's also very likely not the designers' decision, to copy/paste towels or nurse outfits on each girl.
It's usually the heads of a company that have the say, if and which DLC is going to be made. They are mostly interested in numbers and as strange as it might sound to us, these fetish clothes do probably sell the most and we core fans in the forums are just the minority of all customers. They throw a bone to us once in a while too though. So, let's hope for better days. ;__;how TN redesigns throwback outfits

Speaking of costumes, I just got a FB message from TN today asking for my address & phone to send me something. I hope it's a PSN card I can use to get Phase 4, costumes, etc., but I'll be content w/what they send.
Oh, I decided to thank them while I was at it.

I felt he could use another costume, especially a Halloween one. I'm glad the hard work put into it was appreciated by your team. I doubt the prizes from the first contest is anywhere different from the second one. Since your Leon entry is a personal favorite from TN's staff, you'll most likely get an MR towel + DOA5 art book.

To quickly jump back to the discussion of Ayane having purple hair due to her being Raidous rape child. Someone mentioned how it was a constant reminder of her being an outcast. This made me think of NGB and how the ninja dog band was purple, came from Ayane and was meant to prove that you are a Ninja Dog. So, what is with these ninja clans and the color purple representing negativity?

its likely purple because at that point Ayane becomes your superior and happens to really like the color. its kind of a mark of dominance "you have to wear what i want you to wear".
Going back to the topic of costumes, I think the guys of DOA got off lucky. All of their costumes are truly unique, despite them not having the same amount as most of the female characters. Sure, some guys DID get copy & paste costumes (Akira and Hayate casual, for example), but it's few and far between. Also, this is my 1,100th post on FSD!
5/12 of Hayabusa's costumes are borrowed/theme costumes

What's even more frustrating is watching 5UA vids and seeing them pick only fetish outfits during fights. If I have to see a PE uniform one more time...
Aside from new characters it appears to be a major draw to the arcade:
