It's in reference to everyone. I wasn't speaking to anyone in particular.Who is this post in reference to? Most of the people here are level headed and own and play on multiple consoles.
And your second statement is incorrect. Read some of these replies again.
At first I was too lazy/stupid to get one, but then I got rich and decided to invest in a good converter. Let me tell you something: that shit is not simple. You have to...I just don't see how this balances out.. What, people are too cheap/lazy/stupid to get a 20 dollar converter so they can use their controller of choice? People made a bad call in the past as to what system should be used, so now we gota keep making it every time we hold a tournament in the future?
-(with good converters) swap your PS3 pad for a PS2 pad. The digital pad on PS3 pads are much better for fighting games. They're not 100% the same as everyone says they are.
-find a good PS2 pad (to get a "good" one is tougher than just buying one at Gamestop) and break it in. They're a bit more stiff, so the process is much harder/longer.
-the "9" notation on every converter is inconsistent. If you wanna test this yourself, play KoF and try to hyper-hop in a match like you normally would (if you don't compete in KoF don't even bother with this). If you occasionally get a full jump or jump straight-up, you'll know what I mean. I'll admit this is mostly a KoF-only issue though since having the ability to lightly tap "7" and "9" any time during the match is very, very important in that game.
-pray your converter doesn't act fucking stupid mid-match (happens a lot to MK9 players who get random-ducking issues). In the middle of a tournament, your stick could screw up, so you (or someone whose an expert) would just open that thing up and try and fix the problem. But if you're converter acts up, you really can't do anything about it at the time, just hope it doesn't happen again. There's no quick fix.
To this day, I still haven't found a converter that 100% works for me over any PS3 pad, and I'm the type of player that likes to play my best when I go to compete. Gummo even made a PS3 pad that plugs into a 360, but it has the same "9" notation issue and well, it died, and they're really really hard to make.
And for real dude, nobody has really complained about playing on a PS3 at a major in a very, very long time if at all. You'll have trouble convincing people like Big E, Jebailey, or SJ Cage that they've been making "bad calls" all these years when their events have been fantastic and most of them have been run with PS3's.
I do agree with what everyone says about "we should wait until the game comes out to make a decision," but I get the feeling a lot of people here already have made a decision. I'm just telling people not to have a shit-fit if there's little to no difference between the PS3 & 360 copies and PS3 gets chosen. Just be happy that DoA5 gets played on either.
Oh, and one more thing: is there any way to test this 1 or 2-frame delay you guys keep talking about? I've never even heard of it until now but I'm not always in the loop with that kinda stuff.
