What's the purpose of the "Your character" thing?

Super noob question I know, but I'm not getting it.
In the Wardrobe you can save various outfits (and titles) for various characters and then pick one of them as "your character".
What purpose does this serve, and why can't you use the pre-saved things in Ranked?

I'm not getting it D:
Maybe I missed something pretty big, someone please explain to me lol!

Did Tecmo ever comment on why you can't use the preset things saved in the Wardrobe, when using Ranked? If you wanna swap between characters in Ranked it's a super pain.

I apologize! I *obviously* meant it for TecmoKoei!
I would never direct that at you of course.

It was meant as a comment towards TecmoKoei's choice which seems rather poor and hardly useful, given the explanation you gave.
I noticed that but was hoping there was more than I missed, but then from your reply I acknowledged it was "just" that and I was kinda disppointed, but my disappointed was with Tecmo's choice, not your reply.

Maybe that feature was also meant to set who would be your default character and costume in character select for offline modes (instead of Kasumi) but TN was not able to implement that for release?

Maybe for a future update, that could be applied and even apply it for when lobbies get added but I doubt it.

I was thinking about that as well.


More than anything though they need to be adding the pre-saved things in the Wardrobe to Ranked, it's a real pain atm when you want to swap characters.
Doesn't even make sense to me why they would allow you to save custom presets for characters and then allow you to use them everywhere but not ranked. I mean: why?

In the lobbies its set for your character icon next to your name. Its just stating that's your main character and it shows on the main screen and in lobbies. The presets are also in lobbies.

Ya'll are over thinking this lol. Its not anything special, it just indicates that's your main character in the lobbies.

I’m not overthinking, I just wonder why we don’t have custom slots online. Lol.

Custom slots will be in Lobbies! Which is great.
Still makes you wonder why you don't have them for Ranked though, I agree.

Its a smoke screen. Its there to divert our attention from cheap lazy jpg main menu background to 3d model of our fav char. Yup.
