I consider Marie and new female so it's technically 17 (VFs still included).

But honestly, 15 more females added altogether on the next game isn't really reasonable.

Uh, actually yes it is. Dead or Alive 5 has one of the lowest character selections of any of the fighting games out there. in contrast, the new Street Fighter has 44 characters. The last incarnation of Mortal Kombat had 32. Soul Calibur V had 28 but got grief for omitting some of the favorites. Tekken Revolution has 29, but since that's F2P let's go back to TTT2 which has 59(!) characters.

The game has been stepped up and DoA needs to answer.

Sometimes, less is more. It's not really ideal to have a roster as big as MvC2 yet only a few are basically usable/essential. TTT2 literally killed it for me that the game itself became stale because several of them happens to utilize the same moveset with barely any difference from the character the moveset originated from

Sure, we have characters who technically practice the same fighting style with another character but different enough to distinguish how they play. Why just females? It's not like no one plays as a guy. I happen to play 5 of them.

if you want less, you could just have Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter. Point is: Variety is a good thing, and bringing more women to the game would be more fun. Why not have more of the best things in life?

People need to understand that Tekken Tag 2 is a "dream match" game, hence, why the roster is so big. But much of the roster are palette swaps of current characters in the main series, only with old moves from the current characters. Sometimes, less is more. Look at Virtua Fighter 5: FS for instance. The roster isn't huge, but the fighting styles are so distinct, it doesn't need to be. And need I remind everyone, as I always do, VF is seen as the most technical and deepest 3D fighting game series out there. Quality over quantity my friend.

Less isn't more, less is less. If you wanted less, you could play Street Fighter II with its huge roster of 8 people.

Well, Killer Instinct is at EVO and it's roster is only 9 characters. Skullgirls got a lot of positive press and it only had a roster of 8 characters in the beginning. It's all about the quality of the mechanics and the distinction of the fighting styles. No point in having a huge roster if everyone either fights the same or if lower tiered characters aren't even being used in favor of higher tiered characters.

From what I've heard, Skullgirls was punishingly difficult when you got to the boss levels. Look at Ultra Street Fighter IV -- there will be 44 characters and people will flock to that game.

You have to remember that the Street Fighter IV games are what revitalized the fighting game genre. Not to mention, Street Fighter did basically ignite the fighting game genre in the first place. It's a household name, nobody here can deny that.

Which means it doesn't have to do much except be a name in order to sell. A shame, really. I honestly think they're overrated. Mortal Kombat was better, as was Soul Calibur and DoA.

More of the best things in life? Women? Sorry, I don't swing that way.

I prefer equality. If they'll release 5 girls altogether, they should release 5 guys too.

I've seen him over at DOA World (during my short stay there). He thinks the entire game should be only females except for Hayabusa and Hayate. Seems he came over to FSD now. I wouldn't waste your breath. -_-

Wrong. I said Hayabusa and Gen Fu. Good try. Walk it off. I also said I would keep all the guys if they made them wear shirts in all their outfits.

See, this is how forgettable the guys are in the game, even a consummate player can't tell the men apart.

Oh what? Aren't they entitled for fanservice? Or are you just being an inconsiderate douchebag?

This game may be geared towards one specific target audience but it is also indirectly garnering gamer girls and gaymers that even though they are a minority, they can do a big impact (thus why the Fighter Pack DLC was created). Plus, there are people who actually mains/uses a male that isn't just Busa and Fu. They wouldn't want them cut off from the roster now.

I believe that there should be true equality. Either make the guys put something on or let the girls go completely topless and show their tits. Plain and simple. Oh and ad hominem attacks are so unbecoming of people like you. *sarcasm meter is about to explode*

By the way, that doesn't just apply to DoA. I believe that should be the case with ALL fighting games. Even the ones that have no sex appeal use shirtless dudes. Shirtless guys are like cancer cells. It doesn't matter how many you have, it's still too many.

For every gamer girl and gaymer, there are at least 3-4 people that play it for the good parts like me. Also, from what I've read, many of the "gaymers" love the women because they are strong and independent. Your argument is not only derivative, it is also partially irrelevant.

I'm pretty sure personal attacks are against the code of conduct here, so try to maintain some composure from here on out. *evil grin*

Not sure why people are arguing this. It's never going to happen anyway lol =P they aren't going to cut well established characters to replace them all with females. Just like they're never going to add 15 NEW characters in 1 game. Like I said, chances are it'll be 2 girls 1 guy or 2 guys and 1 girl since MR & New girl character are probably going to advance in the series. Arguing about something that is never going to happen is a little bit of a time waster, don't you think? =\

One question, just one. What is the title of this thread? I'll ignore the first part to even make it simpler for you. Is it "What do you think you'll plausibly see in DoA 6? or is it "what do you want to see in it?".

Just because you probably won't get that doesn't mean it would be bad to state what you want to see in the game.
I'm willing to bet that 95% of what people want to see isn't going to make it, as I doubt TN will have enough room, space or time to create that, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to live the dream. I want to make $5,000,000 in 2015. Will I make it? Probably not, but what's wrong with having a dream of something better?

I'm reminded of an old saying "a man's reach should exceed his grasp", so yeah, try that one again.
