Worst Game You've Ever Played?

What was the worst game you ever played so far? Mine is easily Soul Calibur V in 2012. That game singlehandedly killed the Soul series in every way possible by removing many iconic characters mostly in favor of annoying resins with only slight alterations and ruined the canonical storyline with its completely unnecessary timeslot that then director Daishi Odishima pulled out of nowhere. Not to mention the game itself split the entire fan base apart. It's not like Soul Calibur: Lost Swords and Unbreakable Soul were any better either. And I'm not going to even talk about Tekken as of late either. Just look at the bad decisions being made for Tekken 7 for example.

Ah, another SCV hater. :(

I hated MK9 because it constantly froze my PS3. I don't really choose games that I get disappointed in I guess I'm lucky and also beautiful.

Wow I really can't think of anything other game I didn't like besides MKvsDC. That game was poopoo water.

That's an easy one.

The worst game I ever played was Virtua Fighter.

On the Tiger R-Zone.

Here's an interesting fact. The Tiger R-Zone was named one of the worst consoles ever created to some lists.;)
It is. It truly is.

But to its credit, it makes for a nice low-budget DBZ scouter in cosplay with some modifications.

Yet SCV is praised as one of the most tournament viable entries in the series, which is honestly what matters the most.

And Tekken 7 is a step forward for the series. Bound was one of the dumbest things to add to Tekken.

Soul Calibur V was easily the blacksheep of the franchise for numerous reasons:

Worst protagonist and deuteragonist of all time (Patroklos and Pyrrha both did nothing but whine and cry throughout the entire story, which was atrocious to begin with, and were nothing but pathetic tools to certain characters. Not to mention the incest vibe between the two was creepy beyond relief.

The other new characters were no better since they considered a Chinese lolicon who greeted people by stabbing them (Leixia), a tapeworm who's only motive was food (Xiba), and a Naruto reject with valley girl slang who screamed jailbait (Natsu).

Also, there was absolutely no content whatsoever thanks to too much emphasis on the online aspect of the game. The series used to be known for its wide variety of single player modes such as Museum, the aforementioned side mode (Edge Master Mode, Mission Mode, Weapon Master Mode, Chronicles of the Sword, and Tower of Lost Souls), and so on.
How was the game successful in tournaments in the first place? The game was dead within a year thanks to rebalancing patches that made the game even worse.

Seriously, you just don't understand what made the Soul series unique in the first place and the disappointing sales for this game showed (1.38m compared to most of the other games in the franchise).:(

Most of the competitive Soul Cal players I've talked in real life or online (in 8WR or otherwise) have stated that they believe that 5 is the most competitive iteration of the series since II.

The problem is that majority of SC's fanbase is made out of casuals who could care less about all the improvements made to the engine.

I agree and disagree.

Soul Calibur is a competitely viable game and the game mechanics have advanced a lot. Today, there's still a good amount of players and I wouldn't consider the game dead.

I agree about what you've said about the story, characters and lack of game modes. I used to hold my own pretty well in Soul Calibur IV with my main Yun-Seong, and then... he got left out in Soul Calibur V. What a bummer. The lack of Talim, Yun-Seong, Seong-Mina and some others is just plain dumb. The story of SCV is the worst I've ever played too and wasn't enjoyable in the tiniest bit.

The only thing that made it unique was the fact that it was a 3d weapons based fighter. That's about it. What made the games progressively worse is the fact that it became a straight to console series. SCV (and SCIII AE) was a serious step up.

And didn't it also outsell TT2 or was that made up?

Soul Calibur V turned out the way it did because bamco didn't give the devs enough time. They had a lot of interesting stuff planned for the story planned but weren't able to implement it due to having less than a year of dev time. I used to dislike V for being different but it does have the best mechanics in the series. As someone who played 4 competitively, 5 is just a more solid game.

I like SC4 more than SCV, but I still enjoyed the game. Although the story was short, Sophitia, Amy, and Yun sung were removed, custom voice #1 from the last game didn't return (I loved Stephanie Sheh's voice acting in that game♡), and I had to relearn and reassess the new Rebalanced game mechanics, I still liked the game. The graphics were beautiful, the music and gameplay was great, and the new mechanics and modes including Character creation were well done and fun to use. Also, I actually like Patrokolos...his personality reminded me of Lili from Tekken, and I fell in love with Pyrrha...I've Mained her from Day 1. And the game did try to bring back some nostalgic things from the previous games, like the old stage themes and such.

Worst game I've ever played was "Color's Party". Its a doujin fighting game made in Japan using the 2D Fighter Maker program, and omfg...

Lunar: Dragon Song is the WORST game ever. In fact, it's so bad and horridly designed, I don't even want to play any of the possibly ACTUALLY GOOD Lunar games. I hate the Lunar series with a passion because of that ONE game. You took damage for running, you were forced to choose between either items of EXP, the leveling system was bullshit, the battles were too slow, and you ACTUALLY HAD TO SPEED UP THE BATTLES JUST TO GET THEM OVER WITH. When battle becomes a CHORE that you WANT to be over with, you're designing our RPG WRONG. It didn't help that the characters and story were bland as all Hell, a lot of NPCs were just lazy recolors, and so were a lot of the enemies, and the bosses were hard as balls, for bullshit reasons, no less... HELL... YOU COULD NOT EVEN CHOOSE WHERE YOUR BASIC ATTACKS ARE GOING TO HIT! There was one boss, who if you hit a certain part of his body, he would counter and possibly wipe your party. You could only use spells, the animations of which are awful and horrid. The worst part of that fight? If I was given the option to target which part of its body I had wanted to hit, he would've died in a few turns. YOU INTENTIONALLY MAKE A BOSS FIGHT INFURIATING?!! FUCK YOU, LUNAR DRAGON SONG! Don't even get me STARTED on the presentation. My God was it awful. The game was released in 2005. There was no fucking excuse for why the game turned out looking as awful as it did. It had crappy sprite work that a ten year old could make, possibly making it better, the dungeons were bland and forgettable, and the only thing good about the presentation was the music, and even that was mediocre. Overall, a terrible game that my 14 year old brain decided was good because "animu".

About Tekken 7. I don't see any bad decisions being made. The game runs at 60 fps, with gorgeous textures and character models, and the fighting system looks like it's a lot of fun. Yoshimitsu looks a little weird, and Lucky Chloe looks a little too cutesy, but other than that, I don't see too many problems or things to even so much as nitpick about. Don't like Lucky Chloe? Don't play as her. Don't like Yoshimitsu's design? Change it. Don't like Catarina or Claudio? Don't play as them. Realize that playing as the new characters is a CHOICE and it's not being forced on you. Also, don't like Rage Arts? You don't have to use them. I have seen plenty of footage of people not using Rage Arts and still winning fair and square. These new mechanics and characters are not being shoved down your throats, so stop getting pissy about em'. If they're in there, they're in there, plain and simple.

If anything, Tekken 7 looks just as good as Street Fighter V is looking and looks fitting for a next gen console. So, stop bitching and killing my hype for Tekken 7. Your negativity towards the game does nothing but hurt the community as a whole. Thank you!

TL;DR: Lunar: Dragon Song ruined Lunar for me because it was terrible, and I can't believe I fucking bought that fucking piece of mother fucking garbage. Tekken 7 looks good, and you're not being forced to use new mechanics or characters. Your negativity is affecting the Tekken and FG communities badly, and I understand if you want to criticize the game, but please save it for when the game is out and you have played it for yourself. Thank you.

Bonus: New Doom looks amazing. I literally almost had an orgasm watching the trailer. I can't believe Id is going back to their roots, but with better graphics! This is the Doom that I feel fans are looking for, and as a huge fan of the Doom games (yes, even Doom 3; shut the fuck up, it was good for what it was. Bite me), I have to say that I am SUPER impressed and I can't wait to see what the final product will look like.

Personally, It was Devil May Cry 2. The game itself functions well but the balance was just so FUCKED up that it literally induced depression in me. You had all these new acrobatic moves but the spaces were so spread out that combat was just too easy. Speaking of which Ebony and Ivory were WAY to OP. They knocked back enemies and did enough damage to kill with few shots, so you could sit there and mash the guns and kill the enemies very easily. Did I mention that the level design is shit and the textures were shit? Its to be expected for its a PS2 game but DMC 1 and 3 aged valiantly in that regard. Its really sad because its a bunch of small fuckups that add up to be a big one called Devil May Cry 2.

Now objectively speaking the Virtual Boy was shit. I played this thing when I was in the 4th grade and not knowing what I was seeing and rage quitting only to find out that I could not see straight for a few hours. Gunpei Yokoi needed his ass whooped for that.

Dark Souls
  1. No.... its is not difficult but fair.... thats a load of bullshit
  2. No..... it does not have a deep and balanced combat system. Circle Strafing and Chain Backstabbing is pretty much all you do whenever you're not cowering behind a shield
  3. No... it does not have great level design....it has a interesting world structure but definitely not good level design.
  4. No... it does not have a good backstory or interesting lore or top notch enviromental storytelling.... what it does have is scattered bits and pieces of details about its universe that you put together for an incomplete and inconsistent picture.... which the community will help fill in the Blanks.
Much of the reason why hate Dark Souls is because of the sheer amount of lies and bullsh!t surrounding what its actually like.

Soul Calibur 5, in my opinion, is a pretty fun game. But in terms of a Soul Calibur game, it makes me really sad, It's so light on content for a Soul Calibur game. Soul Calibur 1 2 and 3 were so good, especially 3, every time i think of playing SCV i just remember Patroklos and Pyrrha, and hating them. An arrogant dick, and a wimp. A 3 hour snore-fest of a campaign doesn't help either :p

on the flip side though, I made Achilles in Creation, and basically spent hours beating the hell of Patroklos with him.
it soothed the pain a little :)

Agreed. Soul Calibur was fun, mechanically, and visually, it even looked kind of like a PS4 game in some instances. But EVERYTHING else was just so bad, save for the netcode.
