Xbox-One Revealed

Hardcore gamers paying attention to gaming sites and blogs are a large number with a loud voice but a pretty minor part of the install base. I also think it'll sell well initially anyway, but who knows if it'll have legs. Developers likely love the idea of no used games without more money coming in so I think initial support from the big dev houses will be strong. User adoption will make or break it long term.

Playing in favor of Publishers who fear piracy and used games may work in MS's favor big time. They already have the advantage (given to them by Sony's big blunder with the PS3) of a massive loyal audience of COD, BF, Halo, Madden, Activision, and EA sports fans who will have no idea going into the next Xbox.

That's at least funny.

Just figured I'd point out what a lot of the fanboys are choosing to ignore right now. MS did plenty to shoot themselves in the foot but the PS4 reveal was also pretty terrible in general. I will say in retrospect that Sony did MUCH better than MS but they both blew chunks. I'm hoping for some pretty incredible games at E3 on both sides. MS because I want to love their new creation and Sony because I want a good alternative if necessary lol.

How exactly was the PS4 reveal terrible again? After the Xbox 1 reveal and how the Wii U is doing, the PS4's reveal was pretty fucking decent. Good focus on games while giving tantalizing details about what can be expected from the console and its features.

This is presuming that this "massive loyal audience" will be buying the Xbox 1. The people into these games are casual gamers that don't give a shit about loyalty. Look how many people jumped from PS2 to the Xbox 360 for instance. Not to mention that all those games, bar Halo, will likely be on the PS4.

Here's what a lot of people are missing...

Gamefly and Redbox as we'll as every other rental service will give.free marketing to sony and Nintendo.

Every commercial, every billboard about renting games will only feature those two next gen consoles. On top of that we live in a world where these "soccer moms" have smart phones - consumers are now much smarter because of that fact. Even your average mainstream gamer trades old games to get the new ones

And in stores like Gamestop...the cashiers ALWAYS warn you about this kind of stuff.

Now I'm hearing rumors that Phil Harrison may not have had up to date talking points, so maybe the used game thing isn't as hardline as once thought.

However, connecting to the internet once or more every 24 hours to be able to play offline games?
Unless it's go that capability built in then that's a problem.

Yeah their doing the whole xbla with retail. Its still different in a way cause you can currently play the xbla games offline any time. As long as you don't lose the license on the xbox via xbox reapirs. I do get it how it works, but I find it annoying cause I sometimes wanna do things over again. Yeah I can just get a MU and create a different save on their, but sometimes I dont wanna do that. Sometimes I just wanna start fresh on a new profile just because. I actually did that recently with DoA played story mode again just to get all the titles in one go. I did that just because.

I'm extremely uptight a cautious with my save data. I don't wanna transfer saves all the time. When I stop playing something. I back to the main menu - dashboard - turn off my console. I always switch profiles on the dashboard. Due to that behavior I've only had 2 game saves ever corrupt on me. Borderlands (completely my fault weapon duping near a autosave >.< ) and MK which luckily corrupted after I got 1000. I totally consider MK my fault cause all the switching I did of save data. My problem is I don't have that freedom anymore. Now I gotta hop over hurdles and jump through hoops just to enjoy my freedom now.

Plus, if you're a casual and your 300 dollar xbox plays COD and Madden....why buy a new console? This isn't 8 years ago when online play was still an innovation, when everybody didn't already have an HDTV. It's 2013 and every dumbass with a phone has an idea of what's going on.

If #XboxRipoff trends on twitter a lot of people will see it.

P.s anyone who makes the phone upgrade argument doesn't understand that a phone is something you wear nowadays. It's an easy way to show the world that you belong, are successful, ect - that's part of the reason why people I know have kick ass phones but empty apartments.

You are forgetting the advantages of the new and improved feature packed Kinnect 2.0 which will be the key marketing force behind the X1.

More like the "key FORCED marketing" ...

Was Kinect 1.0 even popular for anything other than playing Dance Central? lol

I'd venture to guess, that this may have been requested by some devs/pubs. EA specifically comes to mind, with how they all of sudden stated they will discontinue using online passes. And if this is true, is a major reason why I think Sony may also have a similar feature.

So what do you suggest "we" as "gamers" do about this? Boycott and buy Wii U's?

So if the kinnect truly is required for the X1 I just thought of a hilarious troll for it as the majority of people do not use headsets when on xbox live thus it defaults to the speakers. If you notice they don't have a headset yell through your mic "xbox off" and watch several people drop from the match xD.

With that said, fuck kinnect. That is mainly the one thing that will keep me from buying the X1 if that damn thing is required to be plugged in and turned on to use the X1. I have no interest in mandatory gimmicks and its the reason why I have yet to get a WiiU.

You can't do anything as a gamer besides vote with your wallet. If you don't like it by the time it launches, if it all stays the same, don't buy Xbox One. Buying a PS4 is of course up to you but if people aren't buying MS will either drop support for the platform or be forced to change it. Just a long process since they're expecting losses to continue for a while after launching the new system unless they're selling at an insane mark up already at launch.

I'd guess its more of a problem with pubs. They usually make unreasonable demands. Such as hey do what CoD is doingand make multiplayer or set unreasonable due dates for games to come out and the game get rushed. Majority of devs are, or were gamers at one point. Pubs they set the prices choose the dates you don't really need to be a gamer to be a publisher.

So what do you suggest "we" as "gamers" do about this? Boycott and buy Wii U's?

The day I think of getting a Wii is the day I leave gaming. There is enough gamers out there our numbers alone could make a difference. The question should be will these gamers get off the couch or not.

Think of playing Bayonetta 2 though.

Mistwalker making an rpg on Wii couldn't get to get one. Fatal Frame 4 also couldn't get me to get a Wii. So Bayonetta 2 sure as hell won't convince me enough to get a WiiU. I know the reasoning behind it coming out on WiiU. Still though fuck Platinum games. I'd rather rather see a shitty side game of Bayonetta come out on handeld. Rather than a sequel coming out on that ass console. The only game that could get me to buy a WiiU. Would be Shenmue 3 even that's questionable.

So with all the things that aren't compatible. The xbla, retail, and even controllers. That got me wondering about achievements. While I could care less about achievements carrying over or not. Even though I am an achievement whore. Still kinda curious if they will. They mentioned achievements, but never clarified. Im guessing they're waiting to drop that bomb later down the line. There's gonna be a lot of whores out there that feel used.

Wii u has backwards compatibility, so if you skipped the Wii and you wait till the fall it'll be 100% worth it.

I'm getting a Wii U and PS3 before I go to PS4.

So what, why would I subject myself to play on that shit console? Nothing makes it worth it to get the Wiinus. Thats a dickbutt console.

Considering playability of X360 and XBLA games won't be transferred over, I don't see why they would bother to have achievements transfer over. Acknowledging achievements for games that a person can't play on the new console sounds like LOLs to me.

When you think about it that does make sense. I prepared myself during the Orange Box days for this moment. I'm cool with starting over ready to prestige my achievements.
