Microsoft Cancels Post-E3 Media Roundtable Discussions?
Source
No open discussion about the Xbox One at E3. That seems to be the message Microsoft is sending about their next generation console. A reporter for the Toronto Sun has openly acknowledged that he received a press message from Microsoft stating that there would not be a roundtable discussion with Microsoft executives for the Xbox One.

Gameranx was the first to catch the tweets from writer Steve Tilley, who wrote publicly...

Got PR email saying core roundtable no longer offered due to "changes in our executives’ schedules" :-/

Maybe no longer offered means they're simply cutting out certain press, but it reads as cancelled to me.

Given they've vowed E3 will be all about the games, it would be an odd move to freeze out gaming media. It may be nothing more sinister than actual exec schedules, but you'd think that could be work-aroundable.

Gaming in 05, 6 and 7 was not half what it is today.

It's much more mainstream so if Xbox One is going to be an,overheating block of shit it's not going to go unnoticed by the public at large.

Seriously? Again? They really going to go down this road again? I know they for the most part of gotten rid of the RROD with newer 360's but have they really forgotten the shit storm that occurred in the early life of the 360? I mean, the xbone is massive, how is there heating issues? Maybe they should learn to design a box with decent airflow...

... and a better heatsink.

Let me get this straight ...

PS4 has better hardware specs, will prioritize games first, will still (expectedly) have FREE online play,

AND

WILL

BE

CHEAPER

than the Xbox One!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!?!!!?!?!?!?!?!

Analyst: Xbox One to cost $399, PlayStation 4 priced at $349

But does PS4 have Kinect 2.0 voice commands, TV/sports stuff and mocapped dogs?

Oh wait, Call of Duty Ghosts will also be on the PS4...

The PS4 doesn't come bundled with its motion controller (but who really cares about that?)

I still think having the Xbox One as an 'all-in-one' entertainment solution is ridiculous. Screw that shit. I have Netflix.

They put Netflix in Asia now? I know it took a while for it to come to Canada and they're just above the states.
Not yet. I have to unfortunately use a DNS server but at least it's a shitload cheaper.

And I knew that was sarcasm, but yeah...

Digital Foundry investigates Killzone Shadow Fall

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-killzone-shadow-fall-demo-tech-analysis

The available evidence from this and other Sony trailers suggests that this is indeed the case, owing to the vastly higher fill-rates afforded by the PS4's powerful Radeon graphics processor. Chief among the priorities in its design is of 176GB/s memory bandwidth at its disposal in concert with a whopping 32 ROPs - stats that place these aspects of the PS4's architecture on a par with some of the fastest PC rendering hardware. Put into perspective, this level of throughput exceeds that of even capable £120+ PC graphics cards, including current mid-range favourite the Radeon HD 7850.

Fast forward to the present, and we should take it as read that full HD is now the standard. Killzone: Shadow Fall is set to wave the 1080p banner when it arrives, and based on close, frame-by-frame scrutiny of the trailer, we can confirm this target is being realised fully here, giving us a crisp level of image quality we seldom see outside of PC gaming. But, while this leap gives us an impressive 2.25x pixel increase over the 1280x720 seen in Killzone 3, is this standard actually here to stay for all future releases?

New KZ:SF shots after the ram update for devs.

Thats shitty. How are Asia sells doing of 360? Excluding JP I know 360 doesn't sell there.
There's actually more people buying 360s here, but that's because you can buy pirated games for 5 bucks here (convert to US$ and it's only 2 bucks a game). But more people have PCs specifically for gaming because MMOs are much bigger here.

Yeah, I figured the PC thing cause the MMO genre. There's a reason that Shenmue MMO got released in China only *cries*. Although I don't like MMO's, so I wouldn't of played it anyway. Interesting the 360 sells more I had a hunch it did, but wasn't sure.

Too bad Killzone is a terrible game. Maybe with the new one they will figure out how to make it so there isn't a massive input delay for the controls.

Sony was very smart about the ps4's design, especially in regards to keeping system resources free to developers for games.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/191007/inside_the_playstation_4_with_mark_.php?page=3

Another thing the PlayStation 4 team did to increase the flexibility of the console is to put many of its basic functions on dedicated units on the board -- that way, you don't have to allocate resources to handling these things.

For example, by having the hardware dedicated unit for audio, that means we can support audio chat without the games needing to dedicate any significant resources to them. The same thing for compression and decompression of video." The audio unit also handles decompression of "a very large number" of MP3 streams for in-game audio, Cerny added.

There's also another custom chip to put the system in a low-power mode for background downloads. "To make it a more green hardware, which is very important for us, we have the ability to turn off the main power in the system and just have power to that secondary custom chip, system memory, and I/O -- hard drive, Ethernet. So that allows background downloads to happen in a very low power scenario. We also have the ability to shut off everything except power to the RAMs, which is how we leave your game session suspended.

Game over is the biggest fanboy....but he always has been so it's whatever.

PS4 is only a better alternative to xbox if it doesn't require online for gaming and doesn't have some kind of crazy DRM.

I'm not buying an X0- I will not support shutting down the used game market. If developers want people to keep their games then they need to make better games.

In retrospect online passes are a good idea and I'd prefer that over what MS seems to be cooking.

If EA is charging an extra 5 or 10 bucks for an online pass then ok, just as long as gamestop keeps the used price fair.
