Hopes for the future kokoro Doa5u

Hmm I'm really not seeing anything in 5U Kokoro that gets my interest. Like many characters she seems weaker than before and there's almost nothing new.

236P+K is a 18 frame mid P. The followup is a crumple stun.
Heichu grab nerfed to +11
1P has no heichu.
new 42 frame SS mid P: SS P+K. -4 on guard. Useless on counter hit; it's just a knockback.

8P6P is still a sitdown stun. Advantage nerfed to +17, no longer guaranteeing 7K. And her followups to her bounds are good.

P+K 66P+K P+K works up to Cruiser weight. This one needs to be set up with a lift stun otherwise the last P+K will whiff. Guaranteed 49 points for the juggle. Best part is that it is consistent and you dont have to deal with open / closed stance or 33P / 6KP whiffing on people that are sitdown stunned.

66 66P+K P+K consistent across the board. 39 points of damage for the ender.

This is all I have now I'm going to check out other characters.

Wow, I take back what I said. I thought she was losing a mixup route for a sabaki and some tracking. Turns out she lost the threat of amazing sit down stuns, mixups, and damage for... a sabaki.

Am I missing something obvious? I don't see any buffs.

kokoro got nerfed and it infinitely pisses me off that TN did this. Kokoro was already weak compared to the rest of the cast in DOA5. she takes about 60% more effort than other characters to win with. and that varies depending on matchups. against ayane? good friggen luck since kokoro is pretty slow. but not that just shat on her pressure game. now she has nothing reliable to open people up. 6P+K isn't even worth doing anymore. along with 2H+K being garbage now. wtf TN. WTF?

I still use 6P+K and 2H+K as tick throws. It's not that bad if you keep them honest with follow ups. Too bad it's hella risky.

Don't worry it's not just Kokoro, almost everyone got nerfed. For months now the writing was on the wall, but now it's for sure.

that's the problem. it's waaaaay too risky. kokoro's risk/reward is hella unbalanced. which is why i think it's time to replace her with another main. i waited to see what DOA5U would have in store for her and i'm very disappointed in what i see. i still love her as a character and will still use her in casuals but in competitive play i won't be using her.

I understand the concept of making everyone not play exactly the same but the reality is everyone got hit in this game. The only exceptions are the newbies (excluding Ein who can still kinda make it). I don't know about you guys but I'm going back to 4. Broken or not, at least it wasn't boring.

Yeah I hear where you're coming from. In v1.03 TN nerfed 4 of my characters and buffed 1, in 5U once again they nerfed 4 and buffed 1.

Nobody's scary anymore. I'm ready to go back to Tekken unless I find something interesting in 5U this week

Nobody's scary anymore ... exact words my friend said when he was fighting me who's got about 6k wins and under 1k defeats and admits that i make him sit up in his chair when he fights my kokoro yet he didnt feel that way, i was trying to figure out why the game thats always felt like doa just didnt give me that adrenaline like vibe anymore when fighting on offense or mustering my way back from a defensive point ... alot of these little changes have drastically put a different energy to the series

Kokoro is still good in this game. The only legitimate nerf would be her damage output, which is to be expected. Things simply just changed. You can't punish the 6P+K at -8 because you have to respect followups. You can't punish 2K at -15 because you have to respect followups.

She may have lost being able to stun with 33P and 6P+K. But, I think you guys have missed 236P+K > P. That string is good; it has Heichu, a good stun starter and extender, just as fast as 33P and 6P+K (i18), and is -4 on block. The new sabaki is amazing too; easy timing with a threshold stun. 3K4K being slowed down doesn't matter much either. She has mixups on all 3 levels. It's not like you're going to be abusing 3K4K a lot anyway. The bounds offer 66P+K, which gives a good amount of damage. Of course it's not the same as her SDS damage, but that ties into the damage output nerf. Options from Heichu aren't that bad either. They could be better, but they're no where near being sucky.

Stop complaining and pulling out the nerf card. Kokoro's still strong, she just changed. Just Adapt.
