I wish all characters were top tier. That would be perfect.
Like Guilty Gear.

The commentary was good, a lot of background was being given on top of what was happening. My only complaint is that Rikuto and Mystik don't have much chemistry between them.

I take that back what I said about DOA5 gameplay being slow, o_o is it just me or they must of speed up the gameplay. Because it seems like the gameplay was slow when I was watching some doa5 videos but the august built seems pretty fast. o_o

Watching Silent Legend body Vanessa was amazing. He really made her do what he wanted her to do.

Also when Crazy Steady almost beat Vanessa in one match, he should have won. I do not understand why he did not attack her while he had her in the air. One kick was all he needed with Sarah to win the match. But oh well.

Lastly, Punishere was wrecking people with Leifang. It was amazing to see the critical burst put in good use.

OH BY THE WAY RIKUTO: Sarah doesn't do Taekwondo. She just does 'Martial Arts'!

"Pre-Virtua Fighter 4, it was stated that she used Jeet Kune Do like her brother. Since Virtua Fighter 4, she fights with general 'Martial Arts', which includes Savate, Taekwondo and Karate style. However, it seems that her style still has some characteristics like Flamingo stances and grappling."

While yes, she has Taekwondo moves she isn't full dedicated to that fighting style only is what I'm getting at.

That was great to watch. I surprisingly watched it all aside from about 30minutes when I had to step out. I was surprised at the how well the underdogs did.

CrazySteady was as his shirt said, Really Really Ridiculously Good. He managed to knock off Kayane and I believe Vanessa as well. He was very good with Tina and Sarah. Even his LaMariposa didn't look too bad. I'd guess he has some VF experience because he was using many of her techniques and setup strings from VF5FS.

Swoozie didn't appear to have Kasumi's new tools fully understood at this point. He did well but missed out on a lot of damage potential in juggles. I never saw him utilize Kasumi's teleports in combos outside of the high counter reversal. His ground game and reads are still very solid.

Punishere was the biggest surprise. When I saw his lost in the 1st bracket I thought nothing of him. But then he shows back up in the 2nd bracket like a completely different player. He was a monster with LeiFang. The CB setup was epic, 13hits over 60% health on of the combos. I almost found myself routing for him in the end. He adapted really well once his CB setup was muted by Ryujin and NinjaCW

The tournament was great but sadly Kat wasn't good enough for the Announcer work. They should have had more systems around for faster battles and not leaving us with filler talk while people were setting up their controllers.Rikuto was good but you could tell he had to slow down and get in Kat levels at times to keep things smoothly since he wasn't going to explain her everything while she messed up tons of times.

Great tournament that created hype as it should and the players most of them should be proud of what they did around in this game. Definitely one of the most pumping tourneys I have seen. If I will judge the game because of this tourney the game surely looks viable for competitive play and great fun. Bring on more tourneys!

I just remember somemore stuff.

Someone needs to tell that kid August that this ain't Street Fighter. lol

Also DrDogg, you need to tell your IGN Tech peeps that mixing DOA music, the games background sound effects, and some random hip-hop music all together to use in a short player interview that has the mic volume really low and takes place outside during windy weather is just stupid. Who's idea was that? I had a freaking hard time understanding what NinjaCW and RyuJin had to say.

But I do know that RyuJin IS Jann Lee!

Wedge was cute!

Does that stun at 3:08 not count as a sit down stun? A bit retarded to be in a stun like that and be able to hold out of it.

Well, that was a fun tournament. Of course Vanessa wins though; if Master can't be there to "win", his girlfriend will. That Crazy Steady guy was amazing though, Punishere as well.

Holding inmediatly after stun allowing you to block the follow up which should actually link is a big big big problem, cant say it enough, and it will ruin this otherwise amazing game :(

Thats my only gripe... and i hate to say it wont get fixed... and this game would be so awesome if that wasnt there :/

From what was said, it sounded like it plays better than it looks in that regard now. There are a number of stuns that can't be held immediately, or at all. Maybe just don't think of the other ones as real stuns? With the shear number of stuns and ease of getting them, taking the ability to hold immediately away from all of them may swing he pendulum too far in the other direction. I don't know, but I'm keeping an open mind at this point. :)

That's one of the sitdowns. You can stagger escape it easier than the other one and reach holdable time. Sort of the draw back to being a sit-down at close range. The long range sit-downs have a tougher time to stagger and hold out of since it pushes them away from the opponent.

Lame... He had his chance to hold the kick...the followup to that stun should be 100% guaranteed. The guy didn't even look like he was slow escaping either...

He Free cancelled into an 18i move and the Ayane held the moment they were able to.
