I saw this picture of the XVV UI assets on a mod site, the user pointed out the 7 spaces available for characters on the left which is really interesting!!
I decided to share with you guys, but alas like he said, they should be taken with a grain of salt since it could just be vestigial assets that the devs left there/didn't erase

Let's hope it's just for two new characters, because until they do an Xtreme 3 Ultimate, getting all six cut girls into XVV is the closest they're ever going to get to redeeming themselves for cutting them out in the first place, and I will not tolerate even a single girl being left out.

And assuming this is actual data and not vestigial data that wasn't removed, that would mean that we're probably going to have the game last until possibly July 2020 at the latest (since the final character upload would be on April 2020, and the character updates occur every three months, meaning January, April, July, and October.).

Yep. It does. I'm guessing the bottom right corner has it scroll down, because unlike the others (which has room for at least seven), it only has room for two more icons.

BTW, you might want to post the link for the image, since I might need it for sourcing material on Dead or Alive Wiki.
