Anyone remember Requiem vs. Sweet Revenge at this tournament a few years ago? I've always liked this tournament because it's always been full of surprises, and it's promoted by @Vandy an awesome dude that's been supporting DOA5 since the start of the game.

This Friday you can stream KIT Pools at 7PM EST at NYCFurby.

Saturday Grand Finals will be starting at 7PM EST at PandaXGaming.

As you can see by the times, this is one of the few tournaments streamed later in the day in contrast to the early morning events. So enjoy it. If you are planning on competing in this tournament let us know in the comments because we have little idea of who is making it out.

Fighters' Destiny: Rivals - Episode Three (DOA Documentary)

Episode three of this documentary is out, and this one pertains to the rivalries that the community has developed over the years. I've seen most of these rivalries talked about unfold on the screen, so it's interesting to hear what people really have to say about each other behind the scenes.

It's fun and healthy to have rivalries with other people. These kinds of relationships push us to be the best we can be and most people, if not everyone has that special someone. This video is 36 minutes long, and we have the biggest cast of players shown in a documentary yet. Watch this!

Battle Royal JC Akira Dominates NEC 2016

Japanese player, JC Akira defeated everyone in his path at NEC 16 - Team NINJA's finish to their EPIC 2015 Battle Royal. The matches were impressive and insane throughout the entire NEC tournament... we saw it all: Lopedo fighting a plethora of clutch sets, E-Mann takes second place, and quite the showing from @hollow and Kwiggle. This tournament was filled with memorable moments.

If you missed the tournament a YouTube video playlist has been provided at Team NINJA's Official Channel. You owe it to yourself to watch these matches if you are remotely interested in 3D fighting games as these are some of the best matches the community has ever seen if not the best matches in all of 3D fighting.

Thanks to Team NINJA for supporting the offline community, and also for this great spectacle that everyone was able to enjoy...

(2025 News Archive Update) The 3v3 Tournament was hosted by Spooky on NYC Furby's Twitch Channel roughly ten years ago. The Official Replay has been recovered via YouTube and has replaced the old and dead Twitch links. Enjoy!

This tournament has had some surprising upsets, and some insane comebacks and performances from @CatzDaLegit. Do you have any wild, Team-Based memories with Dead or Alive?

doa_20_years_2-1-jpg.16290

Hello everyone, I am proud to announce the Dead or Alive Legacy event that I will be running at Winter Brawl X. The DOA Legacy event is a tournament that will encompass the first 4 console DOA games of the series. That's right, there will be separate tournaments for:

Dead or Alive 1 Ultimate (if DOA+ is not available)
Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate
Dead or Alive 3.1
Dead or Alive 4

At the moment, I only have a guaranteed pot bonus of $250 for Dead or Alive 4. There will be a signup fee for each game. The amount has yet to be determined.

This event is special to me for a couple of reasons. The first is that we are kick starting the celebration of 20 years of the Dead or Alive franchise. This franchise has had it's ups and downs and we as fan have stood by the game's creators at Team Ninja. The franchise is what brought many of us into the Fighting Game...

Fighters' Destiny: The Evolution of Dead or Alive (DOA Documentary)

Evolution of DOA provides us with more entertaining history relevant to the past games and how the community was involved at that time. It's amazing to think that we went from online clan fights, and laggy matches in DOAU to International affairs, big stages and expectations of players. But it is clear that the community still has a lot of respect for the past games despite how they have aged.

We also see Kat Gunn and Vanessa sitting together and having conversation. I think this is a good piece of the video and shows that any disagreement with another player can be solved for the better of the community.

The first episode of this documentary series proved the value of our community and how far it has come along. Infact to prove it further, Sonic Fox and @XCaLibur BLadeZ have generously donated their guaranteed trips to NEC to the next highest players in the Battle Royal: Hoodless and...

Battle Royal History WILL be MADE at NEC 2016

Next week, December 11th-13th will mark an end to the 2015 Team NINJA Battle Royal. We have seen some intense matches leading up to grand finals, but TFC champion, Kwiggle has dominated the tournament scene for most of Last Round's lifespan. Despite a loss to his brother, Sonic Fox, and his friend @XCaLibur BLadeZ; he has mostly been undefeated.

That being said, this tournament should highlight some of the best Gameplay you will ever see most if not every player being in their absolute finest form for the now 4,000-dollar prize pot and the title of Grand Champion for Last Round. You will see top players as well as the guaranteed players who earned their spot this year: Electrified Mann, Crazy Steady, Teru Rock, Sweet Revenge and Gehaktbal.

If you can't make it out to Grand Finals next week Big E still has you covered with five hours of competitive gameplay via Twitch that will also be streamed and replayed here at Free Step Dodge.

Community Finals Replay for the 2015 Canada Cup

I don't believe Canada Cup was actually streamed last week for DOA, but we do have a nice recording of Grand Finals. We finally get to see some players from Canada Offline; some that you might know at FSD such as: @Force_of_Nature who takes the tournament by defeating @Yurlungur in some entertaining, calculated matches.

It's always great to see more and more tournaments take place. If you have been to an event and haven't shared your experiences yet... check out this forum to tell us all about it!

Top 8 for DOA5 Last Round has concluded at SoCal Regionals 2015. CrazySteady and HajinShinobi have put on one helluva performance at Grand Finals. After several back-and-forth matches, CrazySteady has won the tournament and qualified to go to Battle Royal 2015 Grand Finals at NEC in December along with RIG|Kwiggle, Electricfied Mann, XCalibur BladeZ, TeruRock, and Gehaktbal.

But that's not all that happened: Nykko, mysticali, BLAZE, The Apprentice, TSP|Timtastic, and SwitchingCupid have all made their presence known at Top 8. There were some highlights worth mentioning such as epic Danger Zone battles, the ridiculous use of Momiji's 7K, clutch victories, and many more!

Also, the current standings for Battle Royal 2015 has been updated. Other than CrazySteady qualifying for Grand Finals, HajinShinobi, Nykko, and BLAZE have moved up in the rankings, while The...

Fresh off his win at 'Absolute Battle 6' Sweet Revenge takes the stand tonight on Lopedo's podcast. Most likely to discuss the clutch matches and hype that took place at that great event. You can watch 'Absolute Battle 6' at Salty Mayhem, now. Expect a lot less controversy this week, and a lot more gameplay and event discussion.

Before the live show tonight at 9PM EST you can check out the rest of Lopedo's podcasts in his archive that also shows when a new one is about to roll out.

Team NINJA has updated their Battle Royal schedule replacing the GUTS tournament with Defend the North in New York for the $500 pot bonus and points towards Grand Finals. The West side also adds California's Paradise tournament to the Battle Royal lineup which also adds $500 to the prize pot and points towards Grand Finals; NEC 16.

NEC is one of the biggest events in our community and is the grand finish to our Battle Royal. This is an event you are not going to want to miss. There is a 3,000-dollar prize pot, plus the winner is guaranteed a sponsored spot at next year's Finals which might be the best prize the DOA community has ever seen. You can pre-register for Grand Finals at NEC's Official Website.

Speaking of the West Side... be prepared for the SoCal Regionals Major next week to start off October. This is a grand West Coast occasion for DOA so don't miss it and be there for the action if you can. Top 8 for DOA has yet to be dated, so expect another news post for...

Miss the tournament today? Check out the results, and the pool broadcast thanks to Salty Mayhem. Top 8's broadcast from the same stream host will be available upon their broadcast's conclusion. Also check out the current point standings for Team NINJA's 2015 Battle Royal. Thanks @VirtuaKazama for keeping these points updated regularly.

Today we witnessed some intense matches in the pools, expanding on the emerging talent we have been seeing. We see Mz. Hoodless get into it with Project Bokuho, and she emerges victorious against his Helena. Another emerging female player, Shaz, wows everyone with her patient and powerful Ein. Even though she lost the set, she did win a game against E-Mann and fought intensely for a place in Top 8 against many players, but she ultimately couldn't seal the deal against Nash Fan, an excellent Tina player...

This Saturday was a good day for DOA players as Pools and Top 8 were all streamed the same day. E-Mann was the current champion of Absolute Battle, beating Master last year within some of the best matches we have seen in the community. What will happen this year now that Last Round is out? Sweet Revenge comes back for his Revenge; that's what!

Absolute Battle 6 was the next successful installment of Team NINJA's 2015 Battle Royal, and Team NINJA offered a $500 pot bonus and points towards Grand Finals.

Late Shift with Lopedo #3 TFC Controversy (No Longer Available)

  • 2,705

This episode, Darryl Vaughn aka Jyakotu uses the mini podcast as a platform to speak out on his actions post-TFC. The TFC tournament was held up by him, and it created a lot of controversy within the community. Whether you love the guy or not, he is a part of the community and a valuable contributor. Maybe the community should hear him out by listening to the mini podcast so you may properly respond during tonight's show in the live chat.

The show will also feature a few players including Shaz (a female Ein player) and possibly Sweet Revenge and some other names.

Be sure to share this podcast with your friends and with other players in the community. We obviously need players listening to it, because this podcast is for everyone remotely interested in the offline scene, and it's designed to cater to your needs and keep you caught up with everything going on while also being an interactive experience.

Late Shift with Lopedo #2 Feat. Matt Ponton (No Longer Available)

The first podcast was a huge success because not only did it shed light on the importance of community, but Kwiggle was given the mic and spoke to us about how he feels as a professional player in the circuit. As a growing community it's important to grow in every positive way possible. This podcast is all about converging everything we have done as a community and highlighting it.

Who knows about community better than Matt Ponton? Not many. Tonight, he discusses current news in the community along with the TFC tournament and possibly some announcements. We have watched DOA and FSD grow from just being a fan website to a hardcore community. We are bonding, writing guides, going to tournaments, keeping up with DOA5 for years and now we have a community driven podcast for your enjoyment.

Share this. Get it out there as Lopedo said last week. Share it on Dead or Alive's Facebook page, Team NINJA's Twitter. Take out a few minutes of your day to solidify DOA's importance in...

Battle Royal Kwiggle Retains TFC Title

  • 3,488

Today there were a lot of intense matches in Top 8, but above all else, Kwiggle vs XcaliburBladeZ in Winners really showed the importance of adapting to your opponent. We begin to see that Kwiggle has studied the Eliot match-up as he proceeds to hold out of Cali's fighting patterns and punishes him accordingly. Of course, Cali has more than one surprise up his sleeve and comes back with environmental awareness and mind games... though it's not enough for Cali to win the set against Christie.

A determined Cali bests a crazed Steady in every match which shocked a lot of the viewers due to Steady's incredible performance against Sonic Fox in an earlier set.

Now time for a Final, and Cali and Kwiggle get right into it. Hoping for quick reset, Cali turns to Helena for a powerful mix-up and wins the first match. Kwiggle quickly downloads his opponent and Cali turns to Eliot. Kwiggle goes into overdrive and prevents the reset with his main, Christie, despite some...

Even though NEC is going to wrap up the Battle Royal this year, for the past two years the community has seen TFC as one of our most important events. 2013 Lopedo won the tournament using Rachel, a character that was considered to be broken at the time because of the stomp vortex, but the set also featured some memorable Alpha-152 mirrors between XcaliburBladeZ and the 2013 champion that was honored by cheers within the enormous crowd.

2014 Kwiggle destroyed pretty much everyone he fought, including Lopedo. His Christie was pretty much unstoppable as he also won the mini-champions tournament that earned him a dinner with Tom Lee.

Now while TFC may not be the same spectacle as it was last year for DOA, we will still have 58+ players. Including: BladeZ, Crazy Steady (who was damned close at winning EVO) and Sonic Fox. Check the roster list, to see who else from the...

Still found it interesting that Square (or probably SquareSoft at the time maybe) actually almost bought Tecmo many many years ago. Wonder how that would of looked in another timeline.
