@Fluke, I stay in Chesapeake. My car is currently full for TFC but @Gruff757 may have room in his car. He lives in Portsmouth. You should come out this Friday to my place. I host sessions every Friday and sometimes on Saturdays as well.

Well I'm not sure where to start lol, but I've been a huge fan of DOA since before I turned 13. I''ve always mained Ayane and use a few other characters as well. I've seen some familiar faces, but otherwise I'm just trying to find my way around FSD. I'm pretty excited to see you guys for DOA5U and bring your A-Game ;)

@Blackula What?! I live in Chesapeake too! Right off Centerville/Mt. Pleasant! Small world.

Thanks for the invite to your place on Friday, I would absolutely be there if I weren't leaving this Thursday for a camping trip in Shenendoah. I'd be happy to come out to your place in the future after that though. As for TFC, thanks! I really appreciate the of ride idea/offer! No worries though, I may be bringing a friend or two, and I wouldn't want to complicate things. However, depending on when you guys are leaving, or if you want to travel as a group caravan, I might be be able to follow, or take someone if cars are packed. Looking forward to meeting you!

My goal is to leave somewhere between 9 AM and Noon. It's a 3 hour drive to Raleigh and I want to make sure I'm there in time for the DOA5U team tourney.

Also, I'm in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake not too far from George Washington Hwy.

Also, after TFC, we are going to be having a tourney in the South Norfolk part of Chesapeake on October 5th, Top Of The Food Chain 4.

Hi, FSD community. I've never really taken part in any fighting game community so this is my first one.
I've never really played much DOA, but I always admired the game's style. I started with 1 and 2 very casually, then skipped all the way to 5+, and now 5 Ultimate.
Anyways, nice to meet you all and hope to play some games with you guys. :)

Just take your time with it and you can always ask questions if you have any.
actually i do, but im not sure if i should ask them in this thread, but i shall ask right now to get it over with.

Currently i'm looking into the at least holding the controller iv'e came to the realization that i should use the D pad more than the analog stick. which is i guess, not a problem. but im looking on the forums to master my TINA and i see terms that is basically another language, since when do numbers like 789546 and other numbers are used in a Xbox platform fighting game?

This stuff is litteral a foreign language when i see stuff like frame system and combos and other things....im like..."wat"

Ah, the Numerical Legend. Before I explain, allow me the pleasure of welcoming you to FreeStepDodge and to the DOA community (I'd like to welcome the rest of you that has recently joined too, pleasure to meet all of you). We're more than happy to have a new member aboard~

To help you get started in understanding how to read those confusing numbers, there is a simple way to go about it.

Assuming that you're on a desktop PC, look at your Number Pad, that Number Pad will resemble and will be used as the following;

Legend

789
456
123

1 = Diagonal Down Left
2 = Down
3 = Diagonal Down Right
4 = Left
5 = Neutral
6 = Right
7 = Diagonal Up Left
8 = Up
9 = Diagonal Up Right

P = Punch
K = Kick
H = Hold (Free Cancel/Block)
P+K = Punch plus Kick
H+P = Hold plus Punch (Throw Command)
H+K = Hold plus Kick
H+P+K 8 or 2 = Side step

Example: 2K = Down and Kick

NH = Normal Hit
CH = Counter Hit
HCH = Hi Counter HIt

The format for the numbers themselves are actually used in a lot of Fighting Game Communities when discussing moves, throws, combos, juggles and the like. It's what we tend to use over actual emotes such as a :P:. Because after awhile, using these start to look pretty cluttered in a post filled with different combos and such.

I hope this helps, if you need further explanation, I won't mind giving another. Or other questions in general, I and/or others will be happy to answer them.

Hello there, SENIORS, and welcome to FreeStepDodge. It's nice to see a fellow Ayane player joining the community. If you ever want to talk about some Ayane tech or need a place of reference regarding her, feel free to stop by the Ayane sub-forums.

Hello everyone here at FSD, after browsing the forums a bit I decided to join this awesome community of DoA players.

I first got into DoA since DoA3 on the original Xbox and have been a big fan since. I am a Mortal Kombat player and first got into fighters since Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat 2 so looking to play much other fighters aside from MK, and SF. I use to have DoA4 on Xbox 360 but unfortunately my Xbox 360 and was a lot of years ago. I play on PS3 so I never had access to a Dead or Alive game again since DoA4 was a Xbox 360 exclusive.

I don't play 3D fighters much but imo Dead or Alive is the best 3D fighter series out there and most fun one too. Now that DoA series is now multiplatform I have ways to play and I want to get better which I never had a chance to on DoA4 when I had an Xbox 360.

Now I can't say right now I have a definite main but I am messing around with quite some characters in DoA5U. Right now that is Kasumi, Christie, Jann Lee, Helena, Hayate, Kokoro, Hitomi, Leifang, Tina, Rig, and Momiji.

Though I guess you can say im a Kasumi main since I mostly associated myself with her ever since DoA3 and DoA4. She was the character I used most, but i'll probably make my main decision sometime in a few weeks to see who that 1 character who I really want to learn but it will probably be Kasumi since she fits my style really well. Will have a few sub-mains as well.

I usually main female fighters in fighting games except in MK and SF.

I do want to level up in this game and become better and not be a noob because right now I do not even know what I am doing. Some terms thrown out on the forum I saw I do not know what they mean. PP6PK? PKK7K~P+K? PKK7K W!? If anyone can link me to what all this means would appreciate it.

I am looking to play some good players so I can improve. I am on PS3 so please add me. It is the same as my username here. Would love to get some games in with all of you. Want to get better and level up in this game.

Also checked out the matchmaking section very nice. Not sure if I saw any players in Ohio in there. Would be kool but unfortunately not looking like there any Ohio players here :/

Anyways, glad to be apart of this site. Loving this site so far. Such a nice community :)

Welcome to FreeStepDodge and the DOA community, JJpalmer and Gurimmjaw.

@Gurimmjaw if you look at my previous post 3 posts above yours, you'll see that I laid out a Numerical Legend for Artboxx earlier. That should help you gain an understanding about how to read the format.

Also, Perfect Legend and NinjaCW are Ohio players, I don't know who else are in Ohio though. But you can see if there is a thread for Ohio players within' the Matchmaking sub-forum here; http://www.freestepdodge.com/forums/matchmaking.19/

Oh thanks! Sorry must have missed that post of yours. Though one thing that does confuse me a bit is why 1= Diagonal Down Left, 2=down, etc. Hopefully I understand all this so far.

And yeah I know Perfect Legend an Ohio player. Will see if there are others. Thanks!

The Numerical Legend is based off a Number Pad on a Keyboard, same exact order. You look at that, then your D-Pad on your controller, and those are your inputs. Left is 4, 6 is right, 8 is up, and 2 is down. Then diagonal directions are applied where they are--7 is diagonal up left because it's between 4 and 8. 1 is diagonal down left because it's between 4 and 2, and etc.
