Do you want a tournament scene?

Do you want a healthy tournament scene for DOA5?

So, with some possible revisions of course, I'd ask everyone if everything listed in that post would be enough to make things work competitively without pissing off the folks who enjoy counters in stun.

I like the revision you made there, the more times they use a hold in stun, the higher the payoff it will be when you finally punish that shit. One Question. Will this carry over into the next round? like SCV Guard Break? If so this may break the hold in stun mentality all together, even if they are in the game...no one will want to do them....if that was your intent then thats just badass~

Chris, it's really like talking to brick walls.

No.
Its like talking to someone that has a different opinion from your own.

A community behind a game makes it big, makes it "tourny worthy", makes it to EVO.
Thats been said. Thats been done.

It seems now all that's being disputed is turning DOA away from a counter bound system to a strike and stun bound system; just like Tekken or Street Fighter.

Not saying its a bad thing to do. But not saying its not a bad thing to do either.
Its all a matter of opinion.

Edit:
I enjoy Tekken. I'm getting TTT2 also when it comes out. I would like to see DOA is still DOA in some respectable form.

So let's keep it the same even though no one likes it or let's change it a "LITTLE" bit and see what happens?

DOA has been the way it is for over a decade. It hasn't had a tournament scene. What makes you think it will suddenly have one now, without any significant changes?

One may laugh at my reasoning but look at YouTube, for instance.
The Christie v. Bayman vid already has more views than the Hayabusa v. Hayate full pre-alpha vid; released over 7 months ago.

The new art direction may help in others taking the game seriously in another respect.
I think one may underestimate the power of boobs.

Fans makeup the community. Community makes the game.
*shrugs*
Anyone seen the T&A ads of SCV?

Yeah the community that's forever arguing. Some people jump down others necks just for having a opinion they don't agree with. I'm going be somewhere, or doing my own thing. If DOA5 some how some way "becomes competitive" and I show up to a tournament, it won't be because i'm representing the community.

Do you honestly believe that graphics are what have been holding DOA back from having a competitive scene? Not its flawed gameplay? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

I don't blame you, the way this community's actin' up. :/

Sorry if it was implied.
I was being slightly sarcastic, but what I hoped to imply is simple.
The new design (mainly Christie's boobs) has drawn more lookers. Lookers might play. Players may like.
I'm talking about community.
(and you gotta admit those viewing numbers are undeniable and baffling)

A tournament scene is a whole 'nother story. Maybe because I put SCV in my post, that brought that up. Sorry.
SCV is a solid game and has had a larger, more successful tournament scene than DOA.

That is a drastic change or it wouldn't be disputed so heavily.

Having you take added damage because of Holding? You already get more damage than the attacker and multiple opportunities to break out of the attackers offense. What we are proposing is a way to limit the guessing and reduce the amount of guessing someone will do (at a high level).

Like I have said before the Hold is a defensive measure used to stop your opponents momentum and grant you room to breathe. The way it is now, it breaks offense in too many ways and doesn't offer the person in the attacking position ENOUGH for guessing right. However not only does the defender get you off of him he gets more damage than you did.

If they take counters out of stun right now, I guarantee you that game couldn't come out in September.

They'd have possibly over 25 characters to completely rework and tweak, making them effective in an essentially entirely new system.

Edit: I believe in also how MASTER put it; that's just not going to happen.
I really don't think they'll do it.

Either that, or they better get to work on "SUPER DOA5!" I mean everytime they make a crappy NG they remake it and "SIGMA" to the end lol.

I'm not talking about removing stuns completely. . . .why do you keep saying that?

Oh, haven't you heard? It's planned to be called "Razor's Edge"... a Wii U exclusive.

Take that, Sony and Microsoft. =P

But seriously, no... Super DOA5 sounds wrong. Now DOA 3.1 Ultimate with online play and DOA5's graphics engine to weather the storm for the tourney players until TN decides to remove holds from stun (should they keep holds in stun for DOA5 on release) that makes sense...
