What do you want for NG4?

I am also not necessarily interested in a big focus on Ryu's love life, but I do hope that NG4 really does spend some time on and build upon the great backstory, mythology and cast of characters that encompass NG. Truly, there are not alot of other action games/IPs out there with such a rich story background and cast of characters. So, I would want NG4 to indeed explore Ryu's relationships more with other characters, in particular NG-focused characters like Jo, Momiji, Irene, Muramasa, etc. The character interactions were one of the things I liked the most about NG3's story (the stuff in Hayabusa village and with Momiji and Jo). I think NG4 should focus on these existing strong characters (including Ayane, Kasumi, maybe Hayate) instead of creating new characters like Mizuki and Canna---one-shot characters that don't really have much relevance to the larger NG universe and story.

On the romance side, I doubt we will see anything to major or explicit develop. It does seem clear that Team Ninja is setting Irene up to have some kind of special relationship with Ryu based on her presence/statements in DOA:Dimensions and NG3RE. But, I am not sure if the Ryu-Irene couple is as final or definitive a thing as it was in the original NES trilogy. I personally definitely don't see any romance angle with Ayane or Kasumi---I think they are both too young and one does not get the romance vibe at all with them and Ryu (Ryu treats Kasumi more like a tough older brother/father-figure). I think the most likely candidates for the romance angle would be Irene of course or Momiji. Possibly Mizuki as well, but I find it doubtful she will be a recurring character in future NGs given that functionally she serves an identical purpose as Irene, and the changes to RE with Ayane's chapters made a point of adding Irene to the story.

it could also answer some mysteries like whats up with Muramasa. my personal theory is that hes an ancient person extending his life by trading goods for life essence possibly searching for something which would explain the traveling.

Agreed. Muramasa is a fascinating mysterious character----he is very old and has crazy sword skills. What is his history/background? What is his connection to the Hayabusa clan? Has he been a trusted advisor outside the clan for generations? My theory is that he has his rare goods/antiques shops for the purpose of tracking down possible ancient artifacts related to Fiends so as to make sure they do not fall into wrong hands.

This kind of discussion makes me wish all the more for a NG novel, manga or anime someday....

That's interesting because in NGS if you beat him he'll lose essence and if he loses to much he dies. so that theory makes sense.

Roshi shares little in common with Muramasa other than the fact that they're both old dudes with beards and a hunch. Personality-wise they are opposites, and while Roshi's talents are quickly outdated as the series progressed, Muramasa remains an expert and valid swordsman as of NG2.

Anyway, Roshi sucks so enough about him. That said I find Muramasa pretty damn boring as well, and feel his role should be limited to the game's shop.

Speaking of Muramasa and his shop, the modern NG series could ultimately result in another homage to the original NES trilogy if, at some point in the future perhaps when Muramasa dies, Ryu takes over his antique shop business (and by that point maybe marries Irene). It is a fun thing to think about bringing it all full circle.

Momiji could be left in primary charge of Hayabusa village while Ryu is on the go with the antique shop being a cover for hunting down fiend artifacts and his various missions.....:)

And here I thought Hayabusa already owned an antique shop...

More kill technics (name escapes me right now) on single enemy types (2 or more on crawling humans, etc.).

So, the real question: Will he receive a new iteration of the Legendary Black Falcon suit?

He has thus far in every new iteration to the main series.

/secretly hoping he keeps LBF3 except for the headcreast, which returns to the LBF2 iteration
