I noticed a change in Wrath of the Gods
It still deals a lot of damage but the damage seems to be all lightning damage now. When you block it it no longer staggers or breaks guard and you consume a very small amount of stamina to block it (and despite being lightning damage you take almost no damage/none when blocked). Small as in unless you are at almost none left you will not be guard broken.

It's been patched, it now tells you about an appearance change (not specific about it though).

Edit: Three hours after I had jumped in it I finally died and wondered why my character sounded like a woman when I had created a male character. Took forever to figure out it was the coffin.

Just beat the Pilgrims of the Dark Covenant quests.
The boss was kind of a pushover with my faith build (respecced back to what I originally was going for, pure mage doesn't cut it for me in these games). He had less life than I expected and it only took 5 Sunlight Spears to kill him (4 casts at 32 Attunement and +1 with the Saint's Hood).

Seems like Faith builds are kinda game-breaking. Everyone says that they defeat the tough bosses by just chucking some silly magic shit at em from a safe distance.

Lightning in general has always been really good, not too many enemies have high resistances to it and more often than not it is a weakness to most bosses (dragons and undead/hollows specifically). I would say that magic is better for damage simply because that is what it is for, miracles are a damage/support and do both in high bursts while magic is more of a constant dps and overall has higher damage.
And I think Darklurker also has low health. And having 97 Faith might be a part of that equation...
Edit 2: Just checked, he has 5,500 hp. Kinda low for endgame-ish.

I'm playing a Sorcerer with around 40-something INT and similar ATT and doing shit for damage with my spells. Not sure what else to do to improve it. I'm using the first staff so that's one thing but I haven't found one so far that's better after upgrading it a bit. I do alright because I stack multiples of spells but I feel like I should be doing more damage at my level.

Maybe everything is broken. TBH 90% of bosses are absolutely braindead with my build and I have no magic/miracles/pyromancy/sorcery at all.

With your kind of Poise/Defense anything is braindead.

I just noticed...I haven't picked up Havel's yet. I was positive I had too. Damn I'm slipping.

Attunement is great to put points into until around 40-42 (Edit: 43 for the softcap for attuning slots and extra casts on spells). Once you are at 64 int you can cast whatever magic you want and all you are doing from there is enhancing weapon scaling (highest required Int is 64 for Soul Geyser which isn't too impressive for being the strongest spell in the game. Must have been the damage nerf it received). There aren't a lot of staffs available, best one is the Staff of Wisdom that you find at the Dragon Shrine, requires 50 int to use (180 base magic damage with S rank scaling, at +5 with Magic Infusion it is 297 without Int scaling)

I need to get to the Dragon Shrine first. I'm not sure where I am in the story path because I've wandered quite a bit. I've killed several bosses by now and been to a ton of areas. I forget where I am at the moment. I tend to get to a new area and then go back to Majula before shutting down. I think I'm at the Iron Keep which has proven to be a bitch. Those black night guys go down in like four shots of Soul Arrow but they're fast and if I miss a shot due to their speed they get close enough that I have to dodge and switch to my Fire Sword that I'm still using. Not enough FTH to use a lightning weapon to any great effect.

One of my favorite bosses is in there. Hope you like surprise difficulty spikes.

Do you like Raw Damage, Speed, Magic, Healing, or Lightning?

Strength 2 Handers for Damage.
Dexterity/Adaptability one handers for speed/Bleed/Poison.
Intelligence/Attunement for Magic.
Faith/Attunement for Lightning/Healing.

And throw in Adaptability all around, that is a great stat in its own (reduces animation speeds for just about everything).

Everyone lets take a poll! Suggest what build i should pick when i start dark souls 2
Use my build. Fuckton of vitality and strength with a little dose of endurance and adaptability.

Then equip the full havel set, max out the shield, get a bastard sword, +10 that motherfucker, then get a poison broadsword for backup, +10 that fucker too, and voila. Easy street.
